this video randomly showed up in my feed but it was a very cute and wholesome 5 minute watch, im glad you loved frieren! as an english speaker who only knows hints of german i didn't really pay attention to the names of anything whatsoever until after i finished the show, what a masterpiece!! glad season 2 got announced :D

@@wingo9967 I'm glad it showed up in your feed. I was getting a bit sad that no one was watching it 😭 (I'm kidding. Not rly) I can't wait for season 2! We have manga volumes 7-11 here and while reading I was imagining the soundtrack and animation 😂

Ahhhhhh, as a native speaker, even the English manga had me bawling my eyes out from laughing... It's... something else, alright.

"Wirt" is profession, a Tavern Keeper, Bar Keeper, something along the lines of that

She said it perfectly: Knowing german all the names felt like dad jokes ^^ and some things were so badly pronounced in japanese that I didnt even get it untill reading the subtitles for example "Auslese"

@@EmbersNest yeah my husband Yuta was reacting so much when she said Auserlese cuz that's what the subtitles read and he said it's not the right word 😂😭

Cute video! Most of these German names are really on the nose haha
Btw Himmel can mean both heaven or sky.
And Wirt means... not sure there is a specific English word, the closest is probably innkeeper or host.
And übel means nauseous/nasty. As in you feel it when you have an upset stomach and need to literally puke.
But also anything so bad it makes you feel sick like nasty rumors or a nasty personality.

I mean übel just kinda means bad in general. It's what spoiled food is. If you're bad at a skill it applies if you suspect something is wrong it applies
