At 68 years old, I have add a lot of fun on my boats. I always wanted a pontoon boat, late in life, bad knees. But my son, 48 years old beat me to it and bought one. He said that it was his turn to take me and mom on his boat. I guess he is the "captain" now!!! lol Love your all's videos, regardless of the mode of transportation.
It is so refreshing to hear all of the Thankfulness and Gratitude remarks and how you both go out of your way to help fellow hot rodders. THANK YOU BOTH
That’s the nice thing about being mechanically inclined. You were able to fix the boat for less than $20 and quickly instead of pulling it out of the water and having it sit at a boat shop for months because they’re backed up and then shelling out $150 or so for a rotor replacement. Boating is fun and far less stress when you can fix it yourself.
You two remind me of my wife and I. My mind will immediately race to “this is going to cost 5 grand” and then I back up, and start with the simple stuff. All the while, she’s standing beside me handing off tools and answering questions like “does that look right to you?”. And then the shared happiness of “it’s fixed!”. Have fun, enjoy the journey!
Glad the repair job was an easy fix. My happy place, I would have to say is my deer blind, just before sunrise. Daylight is just creeping over the horizon, you can just make out the frost on the ground, my heater is going, the steam from my coffee is swirling around. It is so quiet and still you don't dare move. In a few minutes you will start to hear the first birds start to chirp. When it starts to get a little lighter the animals start to stir, you spot a rabbit taking a few hops, turkeys are starting to come off the roost, through the early morning mist you can see a few deer moving. You grab you binoculars, it's "Tripod" the three legged doe and her twins. This deer is famous and a legend around our parts (The Texas Hill Country around Junction) and we leave her alone. Been sitting in that same blind doing the same thing since around 2002, never gets old.
I know a lot of the V-8 ski boat guys with EFI motors replace the rotor and distributor cap every year as part of the annual maintenance. I think there is one that is better to keep from getting corroded. I think its brass that is best. Glad it was a simple fix!!
Had a 22ft Malibu Wakesetter for 5 years or so. Loved it! Had the Monsoon engine with fuel injection and electronic ignition. Flawless - not a single issue with it. Probably ran it 300-500 hrs. Tapped off water pump to fill fat sacks. Had hot and cold DIY shower. Awesome boat.
Funny I just replaced the distributor cap and rotor on my 06 Centurion Air Warrior. Decided to do plugs and wires too. Before the engine was rough and the cap was corroded inside. New one fixed my issue. Did a bunch of other maintenance stuff at the same time.
My happy place is right here with you. Your passions remind me of mine when I was younger and able. At my age now, I can refresh my memories as you sail, fly and drive through your life. It just brings a smile to my face everytime I watch your video's.
Our sons have memories like those on our local lake. They are both grown now, and moved on with their own lives so last year we sold our SkiSanger. It was sorta sad, but time to move on. If the grandkids show an interest later who knows, we may buy another, after we move into the forever home... Enjoy the place you are in your lives...change is the only constant in life. My "place"...out in the high desert of Northern Nevada, at the crest of a huge sand dune where the sand is sculpted into incredible shapes being out on the dune early in the am and remembering those I love who have gone before us...listening to the wind...or...20 odd miles from there ,at the crest of 7500 ft mountain in a Juniper forest, where the smells after a thunderstorm are just incredible, watching the sun chase the storm away, and my wife of 41 years and I enjoying a few moments together as the sunset starts to give way, then jumping in the Turbo S and scooting down the hill and across the desert to camp, listening to her giggle as the suspension unloads and loads up over a hill..then camp, and a Elk Steak on the BBQ, and around the fire with friends. That'll do it.
When my daughter's job was real stressful I talked her into surfing with me after work in the summer months. I'd drive up to pick her up & we'd go to Doheny regardless of the forecast. Riding is nice but so was just floating in warm water, when it was almost flat, waiting for waves to come through. Also like making carving turns (or trying to;)) on snow skis on uncrowded slopes. Until I read one of the other posts I had forgotten how freeing a motorcycle ride can be. Got to get the old bike out! So there's a number of things but they seem to center around things like your cousin said where you have to be in the moment - focused on what you're doing - forgetting about everything else. Glad it was a simple fix but odd failure..... Bad materials or something else going on in there? Thanks for sharing your beautiful trip!
First time viewer - but how much enjoyment I had watching you both "trying" to bring that J D 650 back to life.. part 1 ended before I could see the finished project.. You both are such a Joy to watch.. and comps from an older senior gent. I still enjoy watching a Very Pretty young lady with a great sense of humor.. who supports her handsome "very intelligent mechanical" husband. Now I am going to watch the boat project!
Ouchita is a happy place for me too! That leg she was skiing in can turn into absolute glass! I’ve camped many times in that park, the island right in front of that leg leading to the dam, and on the islands further out into the lake. Great times!
I learned to ski with my grandfather on the pond he and my grandma lived on up in CT, miss those times with them. Now I go to Lake Norman every year to wakesurf, slowly getting better! I haven't skiied in ages but I'm sure I could get up on them just like I used to!
That Malibu sounds so good. Well done!!!! Your cousin's rendition of what skiing means to her on the lake gave me chills. It was amazing. My family has a cottage on a river that has been in our family since the '30's. We have been going there for the summers since I was born. We continue to use it to this day w/ our extended family, as my mom is one of 8 kids. Thank you for the memories!!!!!
Hi Aaron, Emily .. I literally just brought home a 2000 Bayliner 2855 yesterday that I picked up in New Jersey . It's in great condition but I can't wait to get in there and do my own preparations and tweaks to get it on the water in the upcoming weeks. I'm a new boat owner and I've heard and read so many contrasting stories about boat ownership and the upkeep/repairs etc but I must say that after watching your videos and seeing how you guys tackle all the challenges with such an upbeat and positive outlook it has inspired me to have that same mindset going forward. I'm sure there will be some bumps and bruises but its good to know that there's some folks out there that have such amazing spirits and experience that I can draw from .. cheers!!!
@@flyingsparksgarage Hey Guys, so the Navigation unit on my boat is outdated apparently. They don't make the card for the region that I'm in (Georgia) anymore so I'm looking at using an iPad for navigation instead. What are you using and do you recommend a tablet vs an actual Navigation device? thanks
I had a 19 foot Sea Sprite boat that I loved going fishing on the pond I used to live on here in Maine. My dad and I used to fish on Lake Michigan when I was a kid in Illinois. He loved to fish and we made some memories on that lake. He's been gone 20 years this September. When I was on my boat, I felt that he was with me and the love that I have for boating and fishing that I got from him. I love the boating and family videos. Cherish that time and make the most of it. 😁👍❤️
Yes yes , you brought back a very fond memory . I live in Virginia and we use the ski at Lake Anna . There was absolutely the best sensation going backwards and forth across the wake . We used to see how low we can go to the water . Use damn near every muscle in your body to do it . But that night you went to sleep .You slept all night . I I've forgotten until I saw this an brought back good memories
I am always impressed with the mechanical abilities of you guys. The trouble shooting was spot on. I spent a whole summer decades ago trying to learn to water ski on one ski but failed. I did however enjoy spending time with the girl trying to teach me. It turned out that I was much better at fishing. Can't hardly wait until the next video.
My first time water sking I was probably 10 years old? It was behind a 10ft aluminum rowboat with a 10 HP outboard!😂 It took about 300 ft for my ski tips to break the surface and plane! I was the only one light enough to ski behind it! That was on Lake Erie near Sandusky Bay. 1962.
My boating days are over, but the last one I had set happy place memories that will last a lifetime. There was another couple that would join Carol and I on a regular basis for the weekend. The boat was a 36' Trojan cruiser - a 1965, built of Philippine mahogany. What a beauty! We'd wait until around midnight, after the day activities, and go out when the lake was like glass. Set the throttles to a tic above idle and just amble around with the stereo playing, dancing on the aft deck or just watching a million stars. It was grand. [Grand Lake O' The Cherokees, Oklahoma] Glad you have the boat and family to make your own memories.
My happy place is my 3 bay shop behind our house. I have restored a few cars. Rebuilt a Lot of wrecks , several street rods and currently building a stretch rat rod out of a rusty 37 Plymouth,!! All of this work while Allman brothers blasting on Pandora
As a kid we had a Bach (holiday home) on the water in Coopers Beach in New Zealand. We all learnt to ski behind out little 13'6" 'Fish-n-ski'. Every one of us got up first time and skied the entire bay. We were all skiing by 9 years old and single skiing by 11yrs old. Now I'm 55 and we have a different Bach but still ski every now and again and we now have a grandchild who I can't wait to get out on the jetski with me. I love your enthusiasm. Let's see Emily behind the boat sometime.
You two are such great advocates for enjoying the water.. And doing so on normal persons budget. Congratulations on such a fantastic find, what a bargain! For me, Skiing on Lake Conjola here in OZ and 20 years in water ski racing was and will always be my happy place. Thanks for suck great videos and such an infectious attitude towards each other and life.
Yes we have a special place. It is Lake Brownwood State Park. I will be 67 on 5/12. I have been going to that lake since I was a little kid. We bought a new travel trailer in 2015, I find something to do to it all the time!! Have a Blessed Sunday! And Mother’s Day!
I like ur episodes with the boats the most. My sons started this kind of sport with me, like my father did. Its absolutely wunderful to be on the water enjoying the time together. Thats what life is all about. Love to see more of you both. Greetings from Germany Michael
just ran across you guys the first one was about the rpod i picked a 2018 19 ft last year after having a 2006 winnebago itaska 37 ft for 10 years but have enjoyed it so far we are on the east coast NC we go to TN camping . but back to your story and boats an old saying that boats are a hole in the water you dump money into LOL but that can be said about anything you do i just look at if you get enjoyment out it to be worth it . i do like the way you two get along . a pleasure to watch. Gary, Patsy and Rusty our chawinni
Great content guys, well done on the fast diagnosis. If only all breakdowns were as simple to diagnose. Appreciate your hard work keeping us entertained. Looking forward to the next one.
I bet Aaron was delighted to see the exploded rotor arm when he took the cap off. It's so satisfying to find the exact problem, no maybes or could bes, just a simple, logical repair. Nice to find the part at the first store you try too. Not a bad result Aaron.😁👍
We go snowmobiling in the north woods of Wisconsin, St. Germain. I feel the same way as your cousin speeding down the tranquil trails of Wisconsin. 8 hours of just erasing everything in your head, concentrating on the Snow White scenery. That’s my happy place. Keep up the great content
So awesome!!! I never was much of a good waterskier but I grew up in the Lake Tahoe area so snow skiing was the go to for me!!! That's where I got to in my mind when I wanna "get away"! Nothing like fresh powder up to my waist and making first tracks on the slopes!
Hi from UK, England. Just got hooked this evening on your channel. Just wanted to share the happy place … we love to snow ski. There are a few runs in the Alps that me feel at one with the Earth and the snow. It’s a weird sensation. … we are planning sharing our thoughts and skills in the near future and took a lot of confidence from you guys to start soon. Jules n Karen love❤
I had a 16 foot Glastron CVX way back in the early 1980S. Spent a lot of time out on the water skiing with friends. Met my wife at a party in that boat. Best days of my life. I worked nights and we were usually the only boat on the water most of the time. You guys have flown over this lake in your plane, lake Winnebago/ Butte Des Morts Oshkosh. I live not to far from the EAA and have had just about every plane you can imagine fly over my house.
I spent many of my younger years on lakes, I learned how to ski and sail competing in regattas. I loved it and will always remember those days😉 Enjoy your family time for the memories🥰
Love watching you two. I grew up with boats and water skiing and we had a cabin on an arm of the lake where the wind usually went over the top of the ridges so that part of the lake was fairly calm and loved to ski on it . That was my youth and of course children grew up parents sold cabin and I didn't ski enough to keep my O'Brien Ski . Well mainly because I strained too many muscles like back and groin which hindered me working . Any way love your life style keep it up while you're young enough to enjoy it . I decided to by a white water raft and float rivers out here in Oregon I'm Now 65 going on 66 and I still love the water and easy floats and drinking beer
My happy place is driving my classic truck, anywhere ... anytime. Part of it is the showy me ... when my truck drives down the road .... all eyes turn to see it ... I get thumbs up ... and more smiles and photos that a Lamborghini. Within a week it will be going to the shop ... upgrading it from a slant six, to a 360 magnum
Just sold my boat after 12 years, but I changed the fuel filter every year and dumped in a can of sea foam every full fill up. Just a lil tip that helped me.
I worked a few years with a marine mechanic on everything from inboards to 160 foot mega yachts. The sound of mercruiser V8’s cranking with a no start situation gives me nightmares. A lot of the time the fire system would have an electrical fault which would cause the no start. In Australia, most of the mercruisers are on salt water and rusts the hell out of the manifolds and risers. Change your seawater pump impeller regularly and watch your heat exchangers for blockages and save over temperature faults and failures. Good channel.
I grew up on a lake in NC. Mountain Island Lake. As a kid we were always in the water. Last time I was able to ski, my experience was exactly as your cousin described it. Turning, pulling, jumping the wake, until my hands just couldn't hold on any more. I dropped into the water to take a rest and had to have help getting into the boat because in addition to my hands cramping up, my legs decided to take a nap too! I always find peace when I'm on the water. Fresh or salt. That's my happy place! BTW I had rotor button from the beginning. Past experience! LOL!
One of the greatest sports to be in boating also another reason to be a decent mechanic , nothing worse than being stranded on a boat I've had many scenarios over the many years of boating and we managed to make it back to shore almost every time. You guys are awesome keep enjoying life!
You asked about a happy place. Many years ago I went through one of the hardest things in life to go through. Two weeks into the hell I bought a motorcycle ( I've had many ). The second I got out on the road all the hurt stopped and I was free and at peace. I was enjoying every second of it and the scenery around me all the while paying attention to my surroundings. The only other things in life that does the same for me is the fact that I'm an Artist and Professional Photographer. I can immerse myself into it for hours and block out the world around me combining the two.
You talked about what’s your happy place? Mine, Hallett Motor Raceway in Jennings Oklahoma. I haven’t been in a few years but I used to have an old Mustang I’d take there for HST events. I remember getting there early in the morning. While I would be unloading my car off the trailer and getting it ready for tech the open wheel cars would be practicing. Something about hearing them bouncing off the rev limiter on the front straight going into turn one would always get me pumped for the day. I just love that sound!
Our happy place is where we moved/retired to in :Lake Havasu, AZ where we can cruise on such a beautiful lake. Anther happy place is RV boondocking in the desert with our Jeeps and other off road toys. Often we will have at least a dozen rigs where we "circle the wagons" with all of our friends. You guys have a great thing with a ski boat along with a cabin cruiser to hold larger groups. Thank you all for such great contend as we are new to your channel which we really love!
Lake Ouachita is a beautiful lake and area. A lot of people from our area - Northwest Louisiana - go up there to ski and have a nice vacation. It was nice to see your cousin ski, it reminded me of the big ski tournaments we used to have here in Shreveport at Champion Lake. Have come to enjoy all your content here on your channel.
Our favorite vacation spot is Bear Lake, split halfway between SE Idaho and NE Utah. Its nickname is the Caribbean of the Rockies, as the water is warm and blue! Have been going down in our all original 1969 Silverline Deville with the original Merc 1000ss outboard, but just recently picked up a SeaDoo Challenger 1800 with twin Rotax 787 jets and a wake tower. Should be fun this year!
I found the ending interesting. We live in northern Manitoba (Canada, eh) and we have huge numbers of lakes around. 6 or so years ago my wife's Mom came to live with us and with her limited mobility we purchased a pontoon boat - largely because it had a toilet area - and it has been both a source of satisfaction / peace and a ministry opportunity where we can get people out on the lake very comfortably.
Jennette's comments brought a tear to my eye, precious ! I don't have a single "go to place" but 3; Mt Hood ski resort where I was a Warren Miller groupie, Detroit Lake where I learned to fish, ski and drive a boat, and Beverly Beach where I built drift wood forts, caught salamanders, fed the birds and ate too mans smores.
My Sundancer 270 tried to sink on me. Down at the marina and when I went down to check on it the engine compartment was full of water. The bilge pump outlets had just gone underwater. Happy to say we got it to shore and on the trailer before it sunk.
Seeing my 13 year old daughter, step off the dock on slalom and stay up for the first time, ski hard for 5 mins (I mean hard), drop the handle and glide in, still with dry hair, is a happy place memory I still cherish. C.T. Australia 🇦🇺
As a teenager I used to go camping with the Boy Scouts in the mountains of NH, I retired and moved there in 2008. I center myself by riding my Harley through the White Mountains, it clears my head and makes any troubles I'm experiencing fade away!
Plunkin for steelhead in the winter at the spot I went to growing up with my father. Its pretty peaceful with 30 degree weather sitting next to a camp fire reading a book or watching a movie while drinking hot chocolate after a mile hike in and watching the morning sky brighten up the day, waiting for the bell to ring to let you know its game time! My father would get me out of school just to go fishing.
I am in the process of doing a top end overhaul on my bro-in-law's 20' Spectra boat, has 1970 Chevy 454 LS6 engine w/427 heads(the good ones), had to pull heads and get a full valve job done, replaced all intakes and 2 exhausts due to heavy varnish from.......guess what? Bad gas! It caused one of the huge 2.19" intakes to bend from being glued shut from varnish from bad fuel, and gorped up a brand new Holley 850 marine carb($$)with what looked like scrapings from an outhouse. Many other things wrong from being stored for several years near the ocean in So.CA, starter, alternator and distributor were all junk from corrosion and sitting. Trans blew up 2nd trip out, thankful the v-drive is stout! Hoping that your Malibu just needs fresh fuel, or something simple, and not much else! Enjoy your boat time irregardless, we did yesterday out here at Lake Havasu where I live! It is our happy place and the marina is about 5 minutes from the house here! So nice to hit the lake when it is 115+ outside in our desert in AZ! Keep up the good video content! Thanks so much! (I see you had a bad rotor, good idea to keep a spare cap/rotor on the boat!)
Lake Ouachita! We were just there! Three of us went there to have a small memorial service for our buddy who passed away last year. We were friends since kindergarten. Grew up in Hot Springs and we camped there all the time. We have names for the special coves and islands. (Instant Tree, because my drunk friend stuck a stick in the shore and exclaimed, "Instant Tree!!"; One Rabbit Isle, because there was one rabbit on it; and Handbuzzer Island...who knows how that one got named.) It's such a beautiful place. If any of your fam grew up in HS, I probably know them! lol
My happy place is Lake Anna in Virginia. A couple of us cousins from Pennsylvania meet up with several cousins from all over Virginia (all our Uncles have passed on...) we meet up 2 or 3 times a year down there, bass fish, sit around the fire telling stories and jokes and fish tales and lies, play poker, just have a good time together. Like you guys, it's all about staying connected with family.
My favorite place to go is lake texoma on the okie side. My grandparents bought a lot on the lake in 1959. It took years to build the house and all of their grand kids were involved in some way in the construction. But during that time and long afterwards we enjoyed fishing, skiing, and camping there. Many wonderful memories.
Emily, yes I do have a place, I take my shoalwater center console boat from San Antonio to Rockport and just drive it up towards mud island and it's so exlaxing and peaceful for me...
So cute her fixing his bead on his hat while she's filming and he's mid sentence. Then him telling the body he's towing to "follow me". Great stuff guys. She is hands down the mostest all-around gf/wife. Smart, sexy funny, humble, attractive, hard working motor head beast.
l started going to Rockport Tx in the 60s as a kid to visit family. l went there a couple times a year until the mid 90s. For whatever reason the once global Tx seafood industry started to die then and is now sadly decimated. l went back several years ago and knew then l had to find a new place. Rockport was magical until the 90s and something changed. Blue crabs, red fish, shrimp, oysters, sea shell shops etc all dirt cheap and now all gone. l feel for people that go to the area now on vacation knowing what l and the old timers there know. Love your channel.
Great that it was cheap reasonably easy fix. It's been so long since we've had our boat out on the water, though we do lack the good inland water ways in Australia. I prefer ski boats, there's a lot wake boats here now and they're causing huge erosion issues because it's a narrow river. (not to mention sinking the occasional old school ski boat tied up to the banks.
We used to have a summer cabin in northern Minnesota on a lake that was 9 mi long and a mile across water so clear you can see almost to the bottom spent many many many hours water skiing All Summer Long.. I've had race boats and jet boats and race skiffs and you name it if it had a engine on it I had it, growing up as a kid.. but the best part about it was being able to wake up before the sun came up jump out the boat with a thermos of coffee and go anywhere I wanted to and anchor and fish... And remember a boat is only a hole in the water you throw money into... LOLOLOL
Had to be electrical, pilots never run out of fuel, Haha! Thanks for the video! Ah, I was supposed to take my Wife, Sister-in-law, and her friend out on our Malibu Yesterday (8/13/21) but my trailer wheel bearing was smoking. It's toast. Didn't want to risk loosing the wheel. Haha! Glad you guys had fun. Malibus are great. We have been to a lot of lakes over the years but we tend to gravitate to our local Napa River and the narrows in Lake Berryessa in Northern California. So many good times.
I love your boat videos! I am really into boats. My happy place is Lake Roosevelt here in Washington state. I love boating it in my newly restored 97 blue water monte Carlo.
always buy a spare, I have a ton of spare parts for my old OMC 4.3 Cobra I/O.... that V-8 ski boat sounds great... we are in salt water so that brings a whole new issue to boating especially with inboards which is corrosion control...OMC gasket sealer keeps bolts from seizing....OMC triple guard grease keeps props from seizing on the shaft....Corrosion X HD keeps your oil pan from rusting out...then there's trailers, same thing lol.
Lake Texoma is my happy place since the late 60's. Family camping trips galore and where I learned how to ski. So many memories of yesterday and still making them today.
my happy place is camping, sitting in front of the fire with a few lanterns (Coleman and railroad) burning around the campsite. I have an old pop-up trailer that never fails to attract some folks and we usually stroll down memory lane :)
Adventures make life interesting and you guys always jump in with both feet. And, if things don't work out, you two take it all in stride and work through it while laughing all the while, making it look fun. It's very motivating. Aaron's even keeled personality, to Emily's bubbly, laughing personality, you guys gotta be the cutest couple on utube. On a different note, I am lucky to have more than one happy place. As a whitewater rafter, probably starting day 3 on a multi-day trip is when my happy place starts. Skiing, fishing, hunting, all have those moments as well.
Our family has owned a place at a place called Grace Lake in MN since 1934. Spent every summer there. My oldest brother owns the place now but whenever I visit all the fantastic memories come flooding back and such great memories.
Loved the video. I used to live Stuart Florida. Bath tub beach, a coral reef in the shape of a bath tub. Was my quiet place, BTW it would make a great video area for you to film. Excellent fishing area too. Now on west coast, Punta Gorda, peace river park is my quiet place. Mobility issues from accident hold me back a bit. Let me know if want to go to bath tub beach, love to see you. Just a thought. Kenny.
Absolutely love your videos with the boats. I know the feeling of being at peace when on the water. We boat on lake George in the Adirondack mountains of NY and it’s by far the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. Everybody had their own happy place and it looks like you guys have yours.
The happy place is home behind the Mastercraft at about 7:00 am . A couple quick laps and the day just feels better! In the winter its on the snowmobile. But we had no snow last year! Any way to go fast and feel the wind in your face or buffeting you helmet. Great vid guys!
What a knockout 😍 nothing better than a lady who can outdrive and outwrench me but to look this good doing it with an awesome personality to boot- yeah your husband is blessed 🙌 love you guys
Couldn't agree more!!! The Wife & I just bought a new Toy Hauler for our Polaris Rzr 1000 Turbo S. We are Adrenaline Junkies & enjoy the Outdoors but we're older now & the days of sleeping in a Utility Trailer are over. We now have the comforts of Home out on the Trail & let Me tell you... IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! 👍
EXACTLY! People have scoffed at me for owning a boat because of their poor opinion of them but I tell them I'm getting my money's worth out of it and it's my money not theirs. My rig is in the water up to 100 times a year and has seen who knows how many fish come over the side of it!
My grandparents lived on the Arkansas side of Bull Shoals lake in the 70's- 80's . We went there every summer. My grandpa would take us boating for the day. You could boat, water ski for miles. My grandpa was a wiseguy and he would try to wipe you out now and then, my grandma would get all exited, and yell "Rolly cut that out, are you trying to get him killed!" My grandpa would quietly snicker, and say yes dear. It was a lot of fun boating, and exploring the woods in the Ozarks.
The marina life is the best ! So many fun people all with like interests . Had a Bayliner 2858 with 7.4 single drive prop they called elephant ears . 12 years .Our kids all grew up on it never let us down ! Stayed at a marina in OC Nj. Sooooo many memories Enjoy Tim
good job troubleshooting glad you got it fixed we used to have property on a lake in north Wisconsin but my mom had to sell it because the taxes were too high I loved going up north and fishing we didn’t have any speed boat just a couple aluminum boats with a 9hp evinrude too bad we don’t have it anymore but we couldn’t justify keeping it and only going up there a couple times each year so it goes I know my mom hated selling it lots of memories of vacation times when my dad was still here and us kids were little
To answer your question at the end, my family is from Arkansas so they too grew up fishing on lake Ouachita, since the 40s after WWII. My grandfather would go with his fishing buddy and they would bring home like two giant green coolers full of catfish. Then he would spend the rest of the day filleting fish, the we would make a big feast eating fried catfish and casseroles. He also took me fishing down on the gulf. Right between Destin and Ft Walton Beach in Florida there is a stretch of road that connects the two with no buildings on it and its covered in sand dunes. We would pull over and fish that spot and since no people were in the water we would catch all kinds of fish. Everytime we went there was this GIANT 6ft tall stork that would come. Every year we would go and I would turn around there he would be. Always startling me because he was so quiet. He never missed a beat. My grandfather said that that bird came even when he was young, so we he around 70+ years old. He called him George. There is just something about fishing the surf on the beach. It's not the same on a boat or calm water. That is my happy place. After the ridiculousness of this year and last year I made a promise to go as I have not been in about 20 years. I know George won't be there but there is still a tiny part of me that hopes he does show up, even if its another stork.
What a cute rescue squad!! Aron lucked out on that one. Glad it was something simple I guess when you're a mechanic you get used to fixer uppers and small fixes. Have a good one. Good luck and be safe.
I swore off Boats years ago because every year it was another $1500 and a bunch of hours to get ready for Freshwater...... I have to say though that the whole Inboard and Jet drive thing Ive seen on your Video's and Garrets Video's is making me rethink my choice here. Plenty of inexpensive Boat hulls out there so im now tempted to find something with solid stringers and maybe have a project jet boat or inboard.......... Dangit... You inspired me! lol
Awesome video. Happy for you that it was a successful fix. I have a 21' Ebbtide and run it at Winnipesaukee here in NH lots of fun memories. Have a great summer👍
You can sometimes tell from the sound of cranking, what might be wrong e.g. one cyl down on compression. In this case I thought I heard one cyl firing way early and stalling the cranking speed. This sort of loss of timing could be a failed crank keyway or slipped distributor but in your case I think the failed rotor arm was allowing spark voltage to flow to the wrong cyl and thus out of time.
I use to ski behind my dads aluminum fishing boat with a 18 hp Evinrude tiller motor. We had more fun out that Fishing boat. It was fun and we caught a lot of fish out of it too, good memories. Back in the seventies.
to stop rust jacking of the rotor. after cleaning the shaft with fine sandpaper or scotch brite.. smear a very thin coating of Hylomar or Permatex 85420 flange dressing on it. it will prevent rust build up and keep the rotor easy to pull off for decades..
Talking about "Happy Places" Canyon Lake, Texas on the South side of the lake near Cranes Mill State Park. Or as a kid we use to came at the state park for $2.00 per day. Also Lake Travis State Park, we camped there for a month during the summer when we were young. Both use to be the bomb. There are many places around the USA just like those. Some are in California, and many other states that I've been to. All of them are a happy place when you are in the correct state of mind.
No place specific, on the lake or in the woods away from the rat race is all that matters. Frequent stop is a little lake called blueberry, mostly undeveloped shoreline and a healthy population of pike to catch. I just signed the deal on 15 acres of forest on Rainy River, on the Minnesota/Canada border so hopefully in a few weeks when we close that will be my full time happy place. It's raw land right now, but hopefully we can get a house built next summer, planning to build out of rock so I'm reading Masonry books to learn another skill so I can build it myself.
"Best part of having two boats on the water. More boats to breakdown!" LOL. This is how my vacation goes every year. Lol. Two boats and four jetskis amongst the family. Guess who's the family mechanic.
So your wife is smoking hot? Lol
Exactly we would do plugs Cap and rotor… Condenser every year end of season
Sure appreciate this comment and happy to have you here!!
Lol.. Good to see a Carolina person..
I'm about 30 minutes from Lake Wylie..
I'm sure there will be some bumps and bruises but its good to know that there's some folks out there that have such amazing spirits and experience that I can draw from .. cheers!!!
That is SO AWESOME!!!!!!!
It isn’t always easy but MAN is it worth it!!! Hope you make so many incredible memories!!
Higgins Lake, Michigan is my happy place. Raised on the lake and continue to return for serenity every summer.
I was born and raised there. It is a very special place .
Greetings from Germany
Michael
Thats awesome! Janette described it perfectly, I love skiing and barefooting behind my 1989 Challenger, we take it out every weekend.
just ran across you guys the first one was about the rpod i picked a 2018 19 ft last year after having a 2006 winnebago itaska 37 ft for 10 years but have enjoyed it so far we are on the east coast NC we go to TN camping . but back to your story and boats an old saying that boats are a hole in the water you dump money into LOL but that can be said about anything you do i just look at if you get enjoyment out it to be worth it . i do like the way you two get along . a pleasure to watch.
Yes! Chasing down all the possible's is a pain don't care where your stuck.
I loved it and will always remember those days😉
Enjoy your family time for the memories🥰
Glad you can share experiences with your family. So many of us don’t have families to share with. God bless Emily
I love being on the water the sense of calm and peace it gives you is unmatched , wonderful content thank you 👍
I grew up on a lake in NC.
Yall look so happy together. I'm glad to see family stick together.
My happy place is duck creek in Oklahoma especially on the 4th of july but dirty bird does the trick for a day trip! Okie for life lol
It's pretty tough to have a bad day on a boat. Hope you are enjoying your summer. Thanks for sharing.
My Sundancer 270 tried to sink on me. Down at the marina and when I went down to check on it the engine compartment was full of water. The bilge pump outlets had just gone underwater. Happy to say we got it to shore and on the trailer before it sunk.
Always loop the bilge pump hoses so they can't do that.
Seeing my 13 year old daughter, step off the dock on slalom and stay up for the first time, ski hard for 5 mins (I mean hard), drop the handle and glide in, still with dry hair, is a happy place memory I still cherish.
C.T. Australia 🇦🇺
I am relieved to know there are kind, fun and beautiful people like you on Earth. I was beginning to think that all the good people had vanished.
My dad had a SeaRay Sundancer 370 with 454s. We used to have a blast on the California Delta. I miss that thing!
we have sundancer 370 now and try to use it every other weekend in calif. Nice boat
I have a place just down the road from Blake Shelton.
Emily, yes I do have a place, I take my shoalwater center console boat from San Antonio to Rockport and just drive it up towards mud island and it's so exlaxing and peaceful for me...
Yes, the California Delta is our place for serenity. Been doing it since 1976. I enjoy this content of your "you tube" site. Keep up the good work.
Skiing, fishing, hunting, all have those moments as well.
it's AN ACT.
You have such a beautiful outlook on life! Bless you and your family.
My happy places are either scuba diving the ocean or on my paramotor thousands of feet up in the air. Sunsets are beautiful from up there.
Kenny.
Old guy here, skiing the California Delta in the 80s and 90s. Nobody skis anymore. All wake board or wake surf. Nice to see somebody ski!
I like to spray silicone lube into the cap and rotor. The stuff doesn't conduct and displaces water and slows any rusting. Fun video!
Yeah, the hubby was smart. He snagged her up in High School. Gotta grab em by the heart strings when they are young, so they imprint on you. LOL
Does not really matter what the cost, when you are really enjoying it. That's all that matters ☺️
Couldn't agree more!!! The Wife & I just bought a new Toy Hauler for our Polaris Rzr 1000 Turbo S. We are Adrenaline
Junkies & enjoy the Outdoors but we're older now & the days of sleeping in a Utility Trailer are over. We now have the
comforts of Home out on the Trail & let Me tell you...
Sooooo many memories Enjoy Tim
good job troubleshooting glad you got it fixed we used to have property on a lake in north Wisconsin but my mom had to sell it because the taxes were too high I loved going up north and fishing we didn’t have any speed boat just a couple aluminum boats with a 9hp evinrude too bad we don’t have it anymore but we couldn’t justify keeping it and only going up there a couple times each year so it goes I know my mom hated selling it lots of memories of vacation times when my dad was still here and us kids were little
Loveland Pass Colorado Backcountry snow skiing, hitch hike up, ski down. Simple fun day. Carve turns in the powder.
Peter u are the hero of the family and thanks for being a great dad
Never get a day off as a mechanic, especially nowadays! 😁 I know the feeling!
