Aircheck: 'FM100' WMC-FM/Memphis, Tennessee Signs Off; Flips to Country - June 12, 2023

After 56 years, and through a few format shifts (starting with progressive rock before evolving to Top 40/CHR and then to Hot AC), 'FM100' officially signed off at Noon today following a 6-hour farewell show and The Breaks' 'Memphis, I'm Coming Home to You', a promotional song for the station from the late 70s. In its place, WLFP's country format and 'Wolf' branding moved to WMC-FM. The heritage WMC-FM calls will be retired, with the WLFP calls being transferred to 99.7.
I have logged the last 7 hours of 'FM100's' existence, from 5 a.m.-Noon. Much like the sign off of 'Star', I will divide each hour of the farewell show in separate airchecks. As the file is VERY large (to the point of my computer freezing up), it may take all of this week to edit/mixdown and post.
This part of the aircheck includes roughly the last 25ish minutes of ‘FM100’ (including the farewell song) and the first 20 or so minutes of ‘The Wolf.’

"My radio's picking up FM 100! I hear Memphis calling me home!" I made a trip back home to Memphis last fall, and FM 100 was the first radio station I looked for on my car stereo. Sad that it is gone. :-(

Audacy had every opportunity to use talent from WMC to complement the "combining" on The River but no, they still fired people. Who cares if it was simply business, people were let go and for no reason. Screw Audacy.
