GOD TIER!!!
Nico, I bet you were salivating every second of this video!
GODDD TIERRR!!
I've just referred to you in a post above, now just seen your comment. F....CASIOS ROCK!!!!
It's between Casio and Grand Seiko 😉
CO CAINE!!!
I find it infinitely fascinating how Casio watches have the same amount of pulling power in watch collector circles as Patek and Rolex and the like.
If Bill Gates owns a huge collection of Casio's and he wears a Casio Marlin Duro MDV-106... Something good may Casio be doing 😏
I mean, they're one of the giants. One of the early founders in watch making which revolutionized the industry. So it's pulling power as compared to other giants like Rolex and PP is pretty expected and nothing surprising if you ask me.
@@paulbrowning5376 facts!!
@@sc20134 Yeah, but Bill Gates is kind of a trash human, so maybe not the best brand ambassador....
Even the great Nico Leonard consistently puts Casio into the 'god tier' of watch brands. Who can argue with that!
I bought the Casio Sailor Moon watch for my daughter. She doesn’t like watches, and this limited edition didn’t grab her attention. So it’s now the coolest watch in MY collection. Moon power make up, indeed.
When the great Jack Forster was still at Hodinkee he wrote an ecstatic review of the Casio AE1200 World Time. That immediately sold it to me. Fantastic watch: Five world cities can be loaded from an available 48, five alarms, countdown timer, stopwatch a ten year battery and a perpetual calendar that will outlast the owner. Mine cost £22 from Amazon three years ago. Amazing.
Casio royale IS the BEST ever watch made PER buck, no question about it
@@luismasanchez9367 couldn't agree more, i have many nice watches but I can honestly say that my Casio Royale is my favorite watch. I got the SKXMods stainless steel kit and the watch actually feels quality, I wear it on the bracelet, on a leather strap and nato straps, it's so cool on all of them
The reason I used the Casio reference number in my post is not all watch retailers are aware that the AE1200 obtained the nickname “Royale” which only applies to the model with the gold coloured case. It acquired the Royale name because it resembles the Seiko G757 5020 Sport worn by Roger Moore in the James Bond movie Octopussy.
Me too. He left HODINKEE??
@@joshsvoss yep, he's at Watchbox i think, still makes good content for a good team, so i guess all is well
Just bought Casio royale, absolutly amazing, I miss it here
Came for watch knowledge. Got non stop chuckling at these two's banter AND watch knowledge. Well done.
The A168 is a great watch. And the various dial design options, finishes and bands really do a lot for it. And the Royale is a great option for larger wrists. It also has a ton of color, material. Band options. That one is a current favorite.
I love the A168 as a watch, and quite honestly I love that infinitely adjustable stainless band that I would buy a bunch of A168s just to have the bands for other watches.
I too like my A168, but the metal band is rubbish and wouldnt even come close to fitting my 8.5" wrist. More importantly to me in my 60's the A168 digit size is (way) to small, a better choice for legibility would be the 217H, much larger digits and easier to read digital display and to me legibility should be more of a key feature in a digital watch - IMO too many reviewers dont give near enough importance to digit size and basic legibility as a main watch feature.
For those weird people like me
Here's the Hex code for the color on the Patek Philippe (accoding to the image) is 90CEC9 which consist of 56.5% Red, 80.8% Green, and 78.8% Blu
The casio however, it's hex code is 76D2BE witch consist of 46.3% Red, 82.4% Green, and 74.5% Blue
My dad passed away 7 years ago. Ive got his f91w in a drawer still running and keeping exact time.
Great choices, and I'd add the MDV-106 Duro. 200m diver for around $50 USD.
Yep. Duro is one of my three favorites. I wear it every time there's rain in the forecast, which in north Florida is a lot. :D
They were closing out the Doros at Walmart for $11, an amazing value.
I'm guessing they were making room for the MDV-107. Same watch, but without the marlin logo. Hell of a deal either way.
I never had anything else than Casio. I think I am on my third watch in my life (I am 60 now). The first one in the seventies of last century was a Casio digital watch with a solar cell in it, so the battery would last 2-3 years instead of 1 year. I think that is still brilliant, and I would love to have it back. I had to buy another Casio because sadly the display broke, the liquid crystals were leaking.
You guys run a great channel. You’re well versed in both, affordable entry level watches, all the way up to high end horological timepieces. Impressive.
Argos often do the G-Shock DW5610 for as little as £75. That is a classic square g shock with solar, multiband 6, alarms, countdown…. Etc an utter bargain at full price, but when it’s on sale for less than £100, it’s an absolute steal.
Yep, that's where I got mine from. 👍
Great video. Please do one of these videos for Timex and Armitron. Armitron especially has some real all-steel cased digitals for about 30 bucks.
I ordered the AE-1200WH-1AVCF the other day, I can't wait to play with it
I just finished setting my new g7900a. It's ~$80 so not the cheapest Casio but it has a frickin moon phase. First day, let's go!
I bought that edifice as gift for my brother but with white dial and black bezel. I can assure you it's not 49mm. It's 41mm at max. I'm sure they put the wrong numbers at the website you looked. It's a great watch
Surprised you omitted the MDR-106 'Duro'. I genuinely think it's one of the best entry level watches across all brands. A great looking, well made and highly accurate 'desk diver'. Just don't keep the original strap!
So many great Casio watches. I tend to wear a ProTrek most the time, which is probably a little out of the bargain price range but I'm in the UK so I like to check the weather as much as the time.
I always been tempted to buy one. Thanks for making a list how to waste more of my money on watches
Every day, I wear the plastic Casio. I work with electricity, so no metal watches. I wanted the Casio so bad when I was a kid. I did get one and then moved on. I guess now I am back.
I love my Casio a168 and MTP Tiffany blue.
I've bought both my son and daughter the ca53w, ( in plain black & a cool white )simply because it was Marty McFlys watch & as a child of the 70s & 80s i remember them being mega expensive first time around. I love casio & everyone should have at least one.
My most worn Casio watch is the Casio W-218H. It's slightly larger than the F-91W, but it is a nice watch and a really good daily beater. It was a real steal at £19.99 from Argos.
Loving my A500, after a couple of years it's now bit tired though.
Excellent list! Would have thrown in the AE-1200WH and the new AQ-800 colors.
Very entertaining as well!!! TY
This is the best video you guys have done in a while. More please :-)
Definitely should’ve included the DW 5600
That's for the g-shock list
Great picks … that Pacman watch with a black mesh strapecode is the watch i get the most complement on, vs my many other watches including Grand Seikos
I bought f91 green and a168 these are just beauties .... I like the shapes
Great content! Thx
The calculator! I had one back in the 70s! Actually two, there was a scientific calculator version with 4 button on the top of the display. It can’t get any nerdier then that.
I recently bought a A-1000, with the brushed metal finish for 100€. It looks absolutely stunning, totally wearable with a dress shirt and simply amazing design
The Edifice you had here isn't 45mm (or maybe including the crown), it's 42mm diameter with a 48mm lug to lug. I have the white/silverish dial and can rock it on my 6.5 in wrist. It wears slightly more compact than a Duro
I use a AE-2100W for work. £20.00 from H Samuel's. It makes a great tool watch with the alarms and count down timer. And the back light is better than the F-91W.
Got the black f91w and the gold 168, g shock white and a world timer. Good watches
For the dual-display, I'd go for (and probably soon will go for) the aq-800e-7aef with graph-paper background.
love the channel! finally watches i can afford lol thanks fellas.
Keep the budget videos going. My pick the Casio g shock 9052.
I've got a casio at 550 Janus calculator watch from 1983 ! Really cool watch and proper high tech for the time I often wonder why they didn't re release it along with all the others.
Grabbed myself a Duro Starbucks, and it has been my go to beater with some extra flair for casual events. Absolutely cracking.
Just received my new Casio MCW100H-4AV with orange strap. Simple with chrono and time and analog...Crown is near impossible to rotate inside the guards but really how often are you going to do that. L8ght weight and only $60 bucks. What more do you need???
Casio B640, I got two, plus the A700 is very pretty.
DW-5600. Great video
Great commentary. Very droll 😊
I just bought a Casio MW59 and it's been great
I would have to get a Casio Duro with 200m of water resistance. A true dive watch for $45. I would also go for the DW290 worn by Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible. It sells for around $36.
Thank you
My only complaint with the F91w is the backlight. I'm tempted to buy an A168 and swap out the module.
GREAT VIDEO ABOUT CASIO WATCH I LIKE IT
What's the product code of that Casio Edifice divers with the yellow seconds hand?
What do you think of Casio A1000. Stainless steel with textured white boarders. For me it's a Grand Seiko snowflake on a budget 😅.
Great choices, but was expecting to see the transparent DW5600. Absolutely oozed cool for $75 so, like, less than £50?
I wish I had kept my Casio calculator watches from the 1980s. Yeah, I was pretty nerdy in highschool. BTW, Aliens Director's Cut was the best of the films.
Aye, the directors cut of the first in the series was much better than the standard release version, whatever the other one is called. I picked the whole lot up on CD, for a couple of quid. My good luck.
My granddad went thru a calculator watch phase in the early 80s, and among his effects that made it down to me was his CFX-200. Couple months ago I put a battery into it on a whim and lo and behold (other than a stuck "set" pushbutton which I'll clean sooner or later) it works! :)
@@mrz80 that is so awesome!
The cheapest watch I wear is also the one that gets the most comments. The CA53-1. A gimmick that's still cool 40 years later.
CA53W-1🤦🏻♂️
Long time sub here. Hey, where is the MRG series? I enjoy my MTG, mudmasted, and MRGs a bit more than my Omegas.
The W-217H is my go to bargain Casio watch. It's just like the F-91W but, bigger and has a better backlight.
I had to laugh, several times.🤣
Thanks guys.
That ana/digi Casio is extremely reminiscent of analog/digital Seiko from some years back. And the olive drab calc watch is going on the "must have" list.
Not too sure about the gold A168; I had to go with the "proper vintage" all stainless one. And "private yacht" and "Casio" just DON't go together do they really? :P
Uh, I'm also not sure about the Edifice diver. Half the water resistance of a Duro for nearly twice the money? The Duro should've been on the list.
As for what else you left off the list, on my wrist right now is an MTP4500D-1AV. An analog chrono with a **SLIDE RULE BEZEL** (yeah, it's too small for me to read without a magnifier, but so's a Navitimer for 100x the price :P ) for just on the high side of 50 clams. What's not to love?
My personal fav is the A700WE-1A. Its like the good old reliable F-91 but with a somewhat more elegant design.
Must also mention MDV 106 the best budget entry level diver watch.
The MDV is just a classic. It's the dial is more eye catching than the Seiko SRPD I was given recently at 3-4x the price
My only complaint is that this video ended so quickly! Cheers gents.
W217h is my favorite
I love my Casios. A700, Marlin, MTP-S110. The Edifice 5340 can be worn with everything, everytime.
I've had a Casio A158 since i can remember, i'm now 25 and next week i'm thinking about getting a Casio GA 2100 all Black to celebrate a very important time in my life, i left the job i've always hated and wanted to quit and i'm currently on my first job in cinema, helping the production of a new Star Wars Series so i'll call it the Darth Vader watch and everytime i'll wear it i'll remember the time when i finally had the balls to risk it and do what i love
My favorite casio is my AQ-100W. It's a black and gold dive style watch that uses the same module as the Casio Arnie, which should make a comeback
I have seen it, great watch.
I have a couple of Casios and one in the mail. The MTP3050D-2AV is built like a tank and its 10 year battery just began its 11th year. Only downside, the chrome hands become invisible against the dark blue with a dark ceiling above them, say. My MW600F-1AV is a nice watch but with a really crappy band that failed after a few years; my friend's failed in about a year. Cost of replacement? About the cost of a new MW600F-1AV. My question is: How do Casio plastic bands generally hold up? Are they all crap?
I used to have that little WT and I had the audacity to sell it…it’s a keeper
Great selection. That Pac-man watch has got me thinking! Mmmm....maybe....
For casio analog digital, MTP-VC01D is amazing
Casio making knock off G-Shocks! 😂. I luv it!
The tackier the Casio the more I like it. Just waiting for the retro calculator version to go on sale but now I might want the Ripley watch featured here.
Best thing about a Casio is if you're wearing one at a fancy dinner party and a guest at the table looks at his Patek and says, "My goodness. I didn't realize it's 11pm already." You can let him know his watch is running a little fast.
You missed out another casio g-shock copy. That is the tough solar illuminator. It looks like a g shock, similar to a casioak, it has 5 alarms, 2 countdown timers, an hourly time signal, world time, stopwatch, is water resistant to 100m and the alarms are much much louder than the useless alarms on the g shock. Mine is the blackout version but they come in various attractive colour schemes. It was only £34.99 from Argos. The tough solar watches are nearly as tough as the g shock watches. I also have a tough solar wave ceptor which i bought nearly 23 years ago and it's still working perfectly. It's still got the original battery in and it never drops below full charge.
I handle remodel projects in Walmart stores throughout the southern US, and all the stores are updating their jewelry cases to get rid of the G-Shock turn cases and reducing the amount of watches on the sales floor, so every one of the last 10 or so stores I’ve been to has had different G’s and Duro’s on clearance and I can’t tell you the time freezing ability in my wife’s face when she finds another one on my dresser. I’m seriously talking 15+ lol I have a problem.
Thank you for the tip! I'm in the south and will be following suite!
My watch cost me two € at the recycle shop it is an OOZOO, metal-silvery case, white face, black indicators, it has the date, and time, I bought a nato strap, and a battery to go with it, it runs fine, looked it up, it was a 50€ watch when it was new :) I don't have any money, no job... so lucky me :)
Can't wait for the new Casio MoonPhase MTP-M300D-7AV
I’m wearing the green calculator watch right now, trust me it’s got three stars because of the negative display. The module isn’t bright enough for a negative display making it absolutely useless in anything but bright sunlight, still like wearing it though.
Not as budget, but one still affordable is the Casio Oceanus S100. Has to be one of - if not the - best quality/price watch under $500.
Hey guys. Can we have the reference for the Edifice Diver at 10:40 please?
The ‘gold’ one reminds me of my old Omega Memomaster.
Casio makes a watch to satisfy almost everyone from design to style to technology to color to size and price.
Can’t express how much I enjoyed this episode. Great commentary, gentlemen🤝✌️
Review the Masters of G, you will have alot of fun with the mudmasters
I wear 2 Casio’s 1) GD-350 and 2) Casioak GA2200-1A1, triple black
That’s all I need, period. 👍🇨🇦
I have 8 casios. Love the Royale
The data bank will be my next Casio purchase. Like it much more than the calculator one with more functions
Do love that pac man one though
I have Casio A178W. Already 2 years. 10 years battery, hopefully I will manage next 8 years.
The A500WEA is my designated “travel watch” for obvious reasons and the practicality of having 4 time zones at your fingertips simply cannot be understated. Departing Europe, a layover in the Middle East for a landing in some other time zone, something goes wrong, a flight gets canceled, you have to scramble for connections and stuff… dragging suitcases on an airport, phone busy rebooking flights… The A500 is maximum convenience when in these situations.
I plan to get one though I'm undecided on the gold or silver, any thoughts bro? Thanks
The f-201 is by far the most bang for buck in terms of functionality.
The white and silver f-91 is the most elegant and true one of the legible classic. The display is very crisp.
Greetings.
Can you say first casios model name ?
Im hooked to budget watches.
I think you have missed many bargains. The mdv106 dive watch for example as worn by Bill Gates with 200m of water resistance and only about £50. I bought an F91w at Argos in the sale for only £4.99!
My tastes regarding Casio are a tad bipolar: since I don't get on with ana-digi "hybrid" watches at all, I ended up with (1) an all-analog, higher-end Edifice world-timer chronograph (EQS-500DB), which was a budget-shredding $290 at the time; and (2) a ProTrek PRG-300-series which I got for a far-friendlier $80, and apparently is both hard to find at the moment and somewhat desirable. (Who knew? I sure didn't.)
Casio 5610, yes it runs about $120, however it’s timeless.
Would love to see Oceanus line get more recognition. I understand why they don't get a lot of love on youtube since its a JDM only line. But I feel like people are missing out on some great watches.
I have the S100 and it's hard to explain how good it is! Best Casio ever made
Digital wise I am considering the Armitron Rubik because it is stainless steel and half the price of the Casio A1000. Casio is iconic and all but all it's budget options are plastic. Even Skmei manage to make metal digital watches cheaply - I don't understand why Casio don't. Silvery resin is nice until it gets scratched. The new metal Casioak G shocks are nice for the money though.
The equivalent steel timex is nice too
Definitely should have had the Duro
Can you do the same for Citizen - please ?
I felt that "dont have turquoise money" deep in my soul. That's fine, I have a F-91W
I love how they didn't even bother cleaning up the crop of the Gold one lol 😁
Casio a158wea-9cf my favourite
Cancel edition a158
A168W-1 is my go to,
The best kids in school had the Casio TV remote watch to annoy the teacher everytime they wheeled in the old CRT/video player trolley and can't work out why the TV keeps going into standby or channel changes.
