I met Vincent Price when I was 12 around 1969 at the local Sears store. He was opening an art show. I followed him around all night. He was extremely nice to me. I asked him to sign about 10 cards that they gave out at this show. He asked if I was going to sell them. I said no, I was going to give them to my friends. He said “ in that case I will sign all you want”! He was super nice to this star struck little kid!

I met Vincent Price once when he was on a lecture tour, right after he did the Thriller video. I was twelve years old.
After the lecture, me and my dad waited around the backstage door, next to his limo, until he eventually came out. There were a few other people who were waiting there with us. He was very tall and regal looking and had on a big, black coat (he looked like he’d just stepped out of one of his films). He walked up to me first and we spoke for a moment. What a gracious, remarkable gentleman he was. A legend…there’s just no one around like that anymore.

I actually MET Vincent in the mid-80's at a "Cousin's Subs" Commercial shoot in Milwaukee Wisconsin.
I was and always WILL BE a HUGE Fan! I didn't just get to meet him and shake his hand... he invited me to sit down and talk and we talked about his movies and cooking and art and I asked him to sign my copy of his cook book "Cooking Price-Wise". He was just... BEYOND COOL! I got the chance to tell him that One of my ALL TIME FAV Movies of his is and always will be, "The Last Man on Earth" which was the ORIGINAL "Zombie/Living Dead" movie that begat ALL of the OTHERS to come after!
    He Gave us SO MUCH!
The night he passed... I actually had a dream about him that I was sitting and talking to him. I didn't know he had passed until that VERY Moring, when I was at my job at the time... and on the radio they announced that he had passed!
And I KNEW why I had that dream about him! His movies and characters will ALWAYS be an inspiration to me!

My Mom and Dad met Vincent Price in London back in the early 70s, he was putting his wife into a taxi.
He signed an old opera ticket for them, Mom said he was very kind, and gracious.
Mom also met Chrstopher Lee a few times at fan conventions in the 70s, he signed the novel Dracula for her, The Man With The Golden Gun, and numerous photographs.
Old school actors were always happy to meet their fans back then.

Yes, me too (on both counts of being weird/remembering where I was)! When I heard he died, I went to my local library and asked if they'd give me the New York Times (which contained his obituary). And they did! Back then, libraries would do that once the paper was out of date. I did the same thing with Peter Cushing.

You wondered if the family in the Price house were aware of its legacy. They were. In the mid 90s, I went to hear his daughter speak at a bookstore just a few miles west of the house. She said she visited the house for the first time in her life earlier that day. She knocked on the door and introduced herself. The owners welcomed her in and gave her a tour. Vincent Price was a horror titan. One sentence uttered with those silky dulcet but spooky tones would render anyone's hair white with terror or pants brown with fear.
Bit of trivia both He came over to Britain, England to be exact, to star in the 1980 cult classic Monster Club with friend John Caradine. And during a break from filming travelled to Wales to research his Welsh family clan Price who emigrated to America the 1700s.
Also, his 2nd wife Eleanor Mary Grant was Welsh being born in the County of Pembrokeshire, West Wales. And their daughter Victoria in 2006 came back to Wales to attend a horror convention organised, and she too in her spare time off travelled to the National Library of Wales at Aberystwyth to continue researching on behalf of her late father & family. 😎 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 🇺🇸 🦇👻

What I like about Boris Karloff was the fact he was so decent. Reading a story about him where he had to smash up a laboratory and he had to smash a lot of glass. After the shoot, he got a brush and started cleaning up and a floor manager went up to him explaining a stagehand would clean it up. He said, "I made the mess, I'll clean it up." Not many actors today have so much humility as he did.

I think he is wrong about Washington University for 10 buildings were there before Vincent's family built house. Wash U started to be used in 1905. They waited until after the 1904 Olympics and World's Fair. Maybe that building was added later but 103 acres of land owned was owned by Wash U before the 1900s. He made it sound like they built the University after Vincent's family lived on street. A quick Wikipedia search would provide the information.

They were the best...I don't think anyone can be as scary, even without trying, as Karloff...and he was a gentle man too, lol. Price was so sinister!...and funny too.

Thank you so much for posting. Vincent Price was such a generous and kind man who was kind to me when I was in high school. He gave me career advice. Many people know him for his campy style of acting, but he also was a great realistic stage actor as well. Much Love and Blessings... Thank you for your hard work! - Guy :-)

Oh NEATO!!! Vincent Price had one of my favorite voices of all time. I was 11 when "Thriller" came out, and I was ecstatic that he was on the song. I love his movies!
I have lived here all my life and had no idea where his house was. That is so cool. Looks like a beautiful house. I'll have to drive by it!
I'm a new subscriber. Your Exorcist house video was recommended to me. I've been binging your videos! They're awesome!

I loved Vincent Price!! He was really a versatile actor though he was known for his horror films. What a thrill it would be to be able to say I lived in the house he grew up in. His appearance in an episode of the Twilight Zone haunted me for the longest time back in the day. I still think about it from time to time even now. This was a great video. Thank you for taking the time to do it for us.

I live in St Louis County and go to STL City often, why do you continually feel the need to say everything is brnd-down and deteriorated, I don't see anything like that when I travel through the city.

As a black person living here too, the buildings in the county and some going into the county are burned down, deteriorated or abandoned. But you don't find many like that in the city because they want to keep it looking nice/decent. These buildings are mainly found in our neighborhoods..

    The Exorcist and Vincent Price!
I live near these places, not originally from here, but have discovered some of these places. Also, maybe just as creepy now, an old official Playboy club is near the corner of Vandeventer and Lindell near SLU and the still has bunny logos on the sidewalk approach to the front door. Awesome youtube channel you guys produce.

I really like Vincent Price's movies, especially those he made with Roger Korman. The fact his family was in the candy business, which I didn't know til now, makes him all the more cool to me, since I have a big sweet tooth!
That candy bar looked delicious! The fact that he and Chuck Berry, who helped make rock n' roll music popular, were both from the same city is awesome as well.

The other day it was warm and as soon as the wind picked up, the temperature had dropped about 25 degrees in about two hours. Welcome to St. Louis. LOL

His daughter Victoria wrote a really good book about him several years ago and it's worth the read. There's just one story about Mr. Price I would like to have heard that isn't in that book, but no one really knows it and it sort of died with him because he never really discussed it and his daughter didn't find out about it until going through his personal documents after he died. About the red scare issues he had during the 1950's. He avoided being blacklisted and his daughter only makes a small mention of it in the book.
