I'd like to see more people like this man ruin judges like that for their crappy verdicts. He (her father if I remember correctly) said that the judge didn't allow testamentary from john's other girlfriends, which attest to his violent behaviour. He feels if this was allowed in court, it would have proven how violent this man was and he would have gotten a harsher sentence.

@tod3msn Another tragic fact about Dominique is that the two daughters who immediately preceded her birth died as newborns from hyaline membrane disease. Dominick said that Dominique became “all three daughters, triply loved.” Which is much better than expecting her to take responsibility for the family’s previous grief and loss, as some bereaved parents do.

This was a sad thing, but it's infuriating the lenient sentence Dominique's killer received. It's good her father worked to get that judge out of the law practice. So many judges don't deserve their robes; they pity the victimizer over the victim. This seems especially true nowadays. You often hear that the career criminal is also a "victim of society". It's leniency such as this that is chipping away at our society.

    • @eternalhikarinotenshi193

That is sadly true and I agree. We forget the victims and people focus on the murderer for the wrong reasons. They sat justice is blind, but must it be stupid and cruel. The laws should be change to truly give justice for those who deserve it. This is why I always love the fictional world form of justice like DC and Marvel. They do a better job with how justice should be then the justice we have now. That is truly sad for us and the victims.

I agree, something needs to be done to remove corrupt judges. I've been seeing multiple stories every week how pathetic lenient judges keep letting out hardened & violent criminals, only for the criminals to continue committing crimes, where some other lenient judge lets them out again. There was a story of some abuser who was busted several times for drugs & rape, only to be released after a year on a 10+ year sentence, only to rape & murder a 13-year-old. Its infuriating. And the judges almost always end up being Leftist judges. But if you defend yourself against an attacker who is trying to kill you and that criminal happens to be a minority, then the same judges will sentence you to 20+ years in jail. Its sick. And these corrupt judges rarely face any accountability. Something needs to be done.

The staggering amount of inaction and neglect from everyone involved, from Packer, to the police, the judge, and the jury was always mind blowing to me to put it mildly. 3 years for strangling someone to death over the course of 3 minutes. Absolutely enraging. The p.o.s. that did it actually moved to Florida in the mid 90's and started a relationship with another woman but her father recognized him after seeing an article Dunne's father had written. Dunne's brother thankfully got ahold of her and stopped it all from happening.

@@TheBigfoot425 I read once that the boyfriend was strong as heck and was prone to psychotic rages. He was fighting in the courtroom and it took multiple men to restrain him. I can't fault anyone for not wanting to tangle with an enraged hulk but I do fault the judge who felt bad his psychotic actions.
(This was the event that I'm referring to.)
At that moment-one of the most extraordinary I have ever experienced-we saw an enraged John Sweeney, his prop Bible flying, jump up from his seat at the counsel table and take off for the rear door of the courtroom which leads to the judge’s chambers and the holding-cell area. Velma Smith, the court clerk, gave a startled cry. Lillian Pierce, on the stand, did the same. We heard someone shout, “Get help!” Silent alarms were activated by Judge Katz and Velma Smith. The bailiff, Paul Turner, leapt to his feet in a pantherlike movement and made a lunge for Sweeney, grasping him around the chest from behind. Within seconds four armed guards rushed into the courtroom, nearly upsetting Lenny’s wheelchair, and surrounded the melee. The bailiff and Sweeney crashed into a file cabinet. “Don’t hurt him!” screamed Adelson. Sweeney was wrestled to the floor and then handcuffed to the arms of his chair, where Adelson whispered frantically to him to get hold of himself.
Sobbing, Sweeney apologized to the court and said he had not been trying to escape. Judge Katz accepted his apology. “We know what a strain you are under, Mr. Sweeney,” he said. I was appalled at the lack of severity of the judge’s admonishment. What we had witnessed had nothing to do with escape. It was an explosion of anger. It showed how little it took to incite John Sweeney to active rage. Like most of the telling moments of the trial, however, it was not witnessed by the jury.

I'm sure this was on the news alot but could you tell me about how long?
I was a yung fool. I never watched Poltergiest even tho it was a hit it didnt attract me at all. I was excited to see V as it got major advertising before it Aired. I do remember loving to see Dunnes face whensvr I did see her. I didnt even know her name, she just had that innocent black hair black eyed white face beauty u wanted in a girlfriend when you saw her or Wynona Ryder however you spell that similiar actresses name. Both beautys. Anyway, maybe she played on Little House On The Praire, I do recall I saw her alot somehow. As time went on I never knew about her death until 2020. I either forgot about the news coverage or didnt catch it much?? One night I decided to search for her to see whatever happened to her and how she looked in 2020 and was shocked to find she was loooooong gone which made sense why I never saw her again and totally forgotten about her and I cant recal what made me think of her. So weird. You would never guess shed be caught up in reg peasant level domestic abuse situation you can expect on regular street levels especually a rare beauty like this you would just figure is doing really well and is out there rich somewhere married to a lucky well to do mature bastard. But she ends up dying like shes in the hood bario of dallas texas or other similar hoods in the nation. Her natural beauty was so stunning rare a guy would kill to have a girl like her to have but this mental beast actually did it and basicaly got away with it and outlives her parents.
such a weird sad case that almost risks being forgotten as decades pass.

Dominique WAS found in the neighbor's backyard, not her own driveway. In fact you didn't know it at the time but you captured probably the best look at the spot that any of us will ever get to see. Pause the video at 11:17 and look through the neighbor's gate. Right near the bush back there is EXACTLY where she was. Lead investigator Harold Johnston, in an episode of "E: True Hollywood Story", revisited the scene and detailed what happened while walking the exact path to the exact spot. Several different camera angles showed him pointing out where she was located, which match what few photos of the crime scene are available.
To summarize: A line of bushes and possibly some light fencing divided the two properties but the gate structures weren't there in 1982 so movement into each yard was unimpeded. Sweeney grabbed Dominique from her front door / porch area and dragged her, hands around her neck throughout, roughly 25 feet over toward the neighbor's front yard. He rounded the bushes, stepping into the neighbor's yard and onto their driveway. He turned right (north) along the dividing line and continued pulling Dominique down the driveway by her throat. Finally after getting a few yards past the back end of the driveway he finished the act. Her head was pointing north and her feet were pointing south.
The show about Dominique's death is now uploaded here on UA-cam in several parts, the investigator's walkthrough happens near the end of the first part. I suggest everyone who reads this to go give it a look. it's infuriating because it just proves that much more that this four minute "crime of passion" wasn't the result of Sweeney just losing it and pouncing on Dunne where she stood, he took his sweet time yanking her around over the length of 100 feet or more. But here just before the 40th anniversary of her tragic and disgusting death it gives me a little bit of happiness to think about Dominique and know that I'll always remember her. Rest in peace you innocent, beautiful soul. You deserved so much more.

It comes back to what i said about lying to oneself or ignoring or downplaying some negative attributes they may sense in a person for whatever reason. U did hint that it may be because a person is vulnerable and or depressed so they may be seeking solace in even a toxic relationship .
Often u hear of family members and friends speaking up after an incident of domestic violence of how they warned the victim about the perpetrator as being no good u need to leave but the advice was not heeded. Even her demeanor was so different from the people of her age at the time. Because her attitude seems to fit more of a person from the 2000's than the late 70's to early 80's. For an actress to be 5'1 ft with brunette hair to get an opportunity in Hollywood was rare in those days. Pretty much, she was ahead of her time. Rest in peace Dominique ♥️
