I'm with Verdasco on this one, and that's not something I say lightly because he was often a jerk. If Thanassi's dad was truly bothering him between serves - and I notice his dad never pled innocence during all this - than it doesn't matter that it's his dad, it's still unacceptable.
Verdasco is not a jerk. The only controversy he had was the ball kid one, but ball kids in China consider him one of the most well-behaved player most of the time. Trust me I saw the interviews.
@anseinueseima408 Verdasco not a jerk? i think you need to check your facts on this one. Check out the ATP Final that he played in France against Richard Gasquet, where he got baited by the crowd after he was doing well in the match, but then lost his composure & very quickly became the villain, before going on to eventually lose a close match, and end up being the fool. That was very poor behaviour on his part in that match, and at other times during is career, where ultimately he is an under-achiever on the tour because of his mental attitude. And it's a shame because I do agree that in general he is a good guy and used to be popular with female fans because of his looks, but his career has been a bit of a waste & I honestly think he's a pretty dumb playboy of a guy, who only showed up as a player maybe a handful of times each year 🤷♂️
@@WokenessDestroyed How does that make him a jerk? Doesn't that make the french crowd jerks for even trying to bait him in support of their own? Tennis players have emotions too, and I don't think he's perfect either, but putting that french final on him and not the fans is wild. The french crowd are known to be harsh to play at. You can't put that on the player alone. If anything the french crowd are the villians, not the players.
As an Aussie I agree. I don't understand Kokk's point about "but he's not disrespecting you" if his dad is talking between the serves like that it doesn't matter what he says, he's clearly trying to put Verdasco off. However I don't know what Verdasco was saying in between Kokk's serve. Probably taking matters into his own hands because the ump was useless.
I didn't understand Kokkinakis' logic here. It's HIS dad who's interrupting b/t serves while sitting feet from Verdasco who is obviously just reacting to such rudeness as would anyone in the ATP.
It's because of his Greek pride.. and I know enough Greek-Australians who are the same, & get clouded by bias when it comes to defending their family..
Verdascos forehand and serve were always spectacular. Shame the rest of his game was just never up to scratch. Aus open match vs Rafa will never be forgotten or his win agaisnt him in Madrid
But on the occasion you mentioned (AO 2009) he shone in other areas as well. Backhand, depth, shot placement, slice, point construction... His game looked quite complete compared to other serve+forehand guys. He was also quite nimble in his peak while not necessarily possessing the greatest footwork.
He had the talent, but his mental attitude was not there and at the end of the day his career has been a bit of a waste, which is his own fault because he is a simple-minded playboy who wasn't willing to improve all parts of his game. Could have done better, save for a few great runs in some tournaments, most notably the semifinal run of the 2009 AO, however even there he mentally gave in to the stronger Spaniard 🇪🇸
Verdasco had every right to complain and Kokkinakis didn't even deny, just went right to claiming "he isn't saying anything disrespectful" 😂 Chair umpire should have intervened
One of the reasons why I prefer men's tennis over women's is that it's much more rare to have "nasty drama-filled" handshakes when there's clear animosity. Kudos for Kokkinakis for keeping things professional.
Kolkinakis family clearly use to cheating their way through games if his dad is talking between points and his son is allowing it. Verdasco was completely in the right here. Just cos it’s your dad it doesn’t mean he can cheat and put your opponent off. Kolkinakis deserves a suspension for supporting that behaviour.
Verdasco was how old at this point in his career? Certainly Kokkinakis was the younger player. As for Kokkinakis Dad, boorish behavior seems to characterize many Aussies!!! His Dad is not unique among fathers of Aussie players, some of them of relatively recent immigrant status...
Verdasco could truly have been a contender, the Australian Open 2009 semifinal against Nadal was beyond epic. Sadly, there won't be much else to remember about him. As far as Kokinakis goes, well, no comments....
Paire is a nobody that tries to act like a somebody. he thinks just because he is a professional tennis player he is special....Number 429 as of today. 3 titles most likely 250's played in France
Verdasco is a beast. He plays so good at times, his forehand is better than Nadals if only his footwork were as good as nadals. Still love watching Verdasco play

Tennis is the only sport in the world ahahhah where you can complain about someone talking in the crowd embarrasing.
4:41 when Verdasco said "Talk now" at 1:1 after loosing the first set i lost it🤣😂
Because is a Experience player Against Kokkinakis (Era Kyrgios Bad Mentally)

@@WokenessDestroyed Yeah I was thinking it must be this. Double standards
He was complaining about Verdasco doing the same thing that his dad was doing to him? What kind of logic is that?
It’s the Kyrigos/Kokkinakis victim complex
I don’t think he could hear from the other side of the court. The chair umpire apparently couldn’t even hear it
He can't control what his dad is saying mate, logic is there if you just open one of ur eyes mate

thought he was going to give the ball to his dad 😂
Lmao his dad was giving Verdasco a stare down at 19:24. Surprised Verdasco didn’t notice
So nobody is going to talk about that slice serve at 6:02?
Absolutely next level serve!
i absolutely love chaotic matches 😂😂😂 great edits Wivo, this format is great
Glad you enjoy them my friend! ❤️
You talk to my dad that way. We fighting
19:24 princess Daddy was hoping to receive that ball as a gift. HAHA
The side spin on that serve was wild...
100 percent on Fernando's side. He started talking between Kokkinakis's serves AFTER Kokki's dad annoyed him for a set and a half.
Yep and likely only because the ump was terrible and not fixing the problem.
Verdasco had every right to complain and Kokkinakis didn't even deny, just went right to claiming "he isn't saying anything disrespectful" 😂 Chair umpire should have intervened
Verdasco didn't need to say sorry even if it was Kokkinakis' dad. His dad really misbehaved and Verdasco has every right to complain about it.
What a match!🔥
Ahhh, parental drama in the stands. Always a great extra layer.
The umpire should have done more to stop the distractions

- that's my f* dad.
- Well, I'm sorry!
Haha! That's always cracks me up.
Such weird logic. If it's his dad then his dad should shut his mouth..
Love to see Kokkinakis and his mate Kyrgios lose.
I am surprised things didn't escalate given the constant complaints
Verdasco was Based, do his match with Gasquet lmao
Whatched 20 minutes and still waiting for the heating moments
Now we all know where this coconut got this attitude

I would go shakehand with his dad after winning 🤣
verdasco sometimes delivers huge serving , 139 mph is impressive
Kakinakis is a wannabe Kyrgios without any talent.
im with verdasco
Bad thing. The Dad affected the son and his game. The opponent affected by the Dad and his game too. See the result 😂😂😂
Verdasco Estava certo, Kokkinakis percebeu que o pai dele estava atrapalhando o adversário e nao fez nada, o melhor, perdeu a partida.

im happy for verdasco on this one. i can tell he was having a me tal battle he had to shut out.
It hurts watching tennis rackets getting smashed to death 😢
Kokkinakis was good back then, what happened to him, maybe it got to his head.
