It was actually done 4 days ago but my appendix exploded right after I uploaded it and I just got out of the hospital yesterday. I do think this video is pretty good but I don't know how people will jive with it. I decided I'd lean more on making the video interesting over forcing in humor at every turn because I do think it incentivizes lazy writing which I wanted to avoid. Humor will always be part of these videos but I just don't want to have to force in boring jokes all the time (sometimes is fine). This is also the first video using my new microphone since miniGOkin videos are completely voiceover and I wanted this to not sound as bad as that Raid ad I did so I bit the bullet and bought a fairly nice microphone. Hopefully it sounds okay but there are unfortunately a lot of problems on my end like it just cuts off sometimes for a while before coming back and the audio is full of annoying clicks that I had to edit out. So why did this take so long? To put this simply the figure was sent to my recording guy who is on the other half of the planet from me at the moment and since he had a lot going on and I wanted this video to have a lot of cool footage it ended being a couple months late. Normally I'd just record the missing stuff myself if footage ends up late but since we don't even live in the same country and I don't have a recording setup here that wasn't an option. I'll try to fix this so at least videos won't take 3 months to come out. Next thing my recording guy is recording will probably be the Flame Toys Arcee, hopefully it won't take 3 months. I'm looking forward to seeing all 3 people who appreciate the Ultraman Nexus joke I put in.
The video is really enjoyable to watch and the editing is great. I love the smooth transitions between game footage and figure, and the armor „rant“ at the beginning
I really like how this review worked out, really good in all departments. Especially since you had the restraint to pace out your jokes and focus on some big editing based ones instead of filling the whole script with them. Also liked the informative aspect, really made it feel better to watch for some reason.
If I'm being honest, I'm actually pretty proud of this one. I don't think this is something I can keep up through all my videos as this one ended being sort of a passion project and I also think there's room for improvement but I definitely learned a lot of good things from this one that should follow through to later projects. As for the pacing of the jokes, I was watching some other youtube channels and it hit me how much the mentality of making everything have to be a joke incentivizes lazy writing. I think if you're doing filler content that's fine but I wanted this to be a bit better than that.
Woo yeah baby! This is what we've all been waiting for this is what it's all about! Nothing like thinking you're having a stroke when the transition at 5:37 hits. Jokes aside, glad to be seeing from ya again. As for your thoughts on armor, while fantasy can allow for fantastic designs, I think having a general respect for real armors and practicality can elevate a design even more. Those historical armors have stories to them and making an armor that pays some homage to those real life counterparts as well as adding some tasteful fantasy designs on top of it can help to add direction and show intention in designs. Of course, the souls games aren't strangers to less contemporary designs, but I mean there's also magic and demons and the moonlight great sword and the general gothic themeing that helps to make things feel cohesive even if outlandish.
I'm always for rule of cool but I think people just don't know how cool the historical stuff actually is. While I was doing "research" for this video, I couldn't help but awe at how incredible this stuff looks. I love over the top stupid impractical armor designs but if you're going for something more grounded I think it's worth looking into why armor designed the way it was. Not just for realism but also because that kind of stuff can just look cooler.
I don't like the remake but this is a nice figure, plate armour that is more on the side of realism is always a treat, kinda surprising they don't make more figures with that element, they could market them to mech and history autists as well, I would love to buy nicely done Italian or German XVth/XVIth century suits even if they are not attached to any franchise. Also I recently got my first Figma; a Goblin Slayer, I'm pretty satisfied, looks great and it's articulated enough to serve as reference for drawings and key frames. Bit lacking in accessories though, not having an option for the red eye brings it down a bit.
I do love German gothic style armor, I think Revoltech made some of those at approximately figma scale for their KT Project line. There's also Coo Model who do like all kinds of armors at 1/6th scale.
@@ZEROGOkinReviews Oh, I think I saw pictures of the Revoltech knight with the sallet, It's a long shot to find one but will keep an eye on it.
