Yes, you read the title correctly. In a bout of madness, I asked @MeatyJesus to mod Immolation, the absolute worst spell in the series, into Dark Souls 1. And he did not disappoint.
Get your popcorn ready. It's time to find out if we can beat the game by setting ourselves on fire over and over again.

strategy to make seath easy:
Step 1: get the dragon ring that makes you silent
Step 2: there is no step 2. he literally cannot find you consistently
Kind of expected this to be Remastest, where Immolation serves as the pyro hand's "weapon art".
When I was making the mod and saw how badly the damage fell off late-game, I thought: "The only person who would voluntarily do this must be insane." I was correct.
Also the fact that you specifically requested it to not scale in damage like how it was in DS2 must be some kind of Immolation Stockholm Syndrome.

Great job on this mod. It seemed well balanced (as in, about as "balanced" as in the other game), but with just enough changes to make it viable, just with EXTREME perseverance & skill. Perfect for Lemon to defeat his previous demons. Thanks for this! 🙂

I was never dissapointed more in a spell than immolation. Even the thron spells from elden ring are better.

This was delightful. I can't decide which is my favorite part of Lemon's runs:
The laid-back friendly banter style, the way the video's framing highlights the power level crescendo, or the fantastic speeches Lemon gives when vanquishing the final challenge.
God, this was a good monologue too!
I am genuinely baffled how he keeps writing these monologues. They are just so good.
Well, part of the monologue is just taken from the black blade npc of Ashes of Ariandel
The lore implications of a man who's only method of attack is to burn himself eternally, then linking the flame, seems to break Dark Souls on a fundamental level in a way I like.
Lemon literally added a feature to the game just to suffer for us. You gotta love this man for his dedication
The Patience Elemental cannot be stopped. Not even by intended game mechanics (or lack thereof). When all other challenges have been endured, he must create his own. For that is his fate.
He did it for the views and money I think.
@@brandonlee747 Literally everyone works for money. People tend to die if they don't eat, you know. However, there are soulless content makers who spend minimal effort to churn out easily digestible crap for the masses, and then there are people who honestly try to produce high quality stuff while maintaining their individual style. I think you've got to have a pretty bad taste to call Lemon the former of those two.

One of the things I love most about The Backlogs is that so many other UA-camrs are like 'Hey, let's spend several seconds mid-video talking about how many people AREN'T subscribed to me, you should NOT be like those people. Subscribe!' Lemon is just like, 'Hey check out other great people who have helped, enjoy my suffering, take care of yourself. Bye.'
It's more about the content than guilt-trips to have you join. Happy that you focus on the content Lemon.
Apparently those calls to action actually work, though, which I think is annoying to everyone.
Eh, I've seen people with a million subscribers never once utter a "like share subscribe" so I have a feeling that's not entirely true
The fact that this man DIDN'T use the remastest mod (yes that's it's name) by Inferno Plus makes this a much bigger feat than I could ever imagine as that mod makes the spell actually... Good! Backlogs sir, I salute you for your willingness to put yourself through pain unknown for our enjoyment.
God, I love that mod. It's a shame that not more people know about it. Though I guess Dark Souls isn't really a game most people think to mod.

I recently found out that the Vow of Silence spell from the painted world can stop the stray demon and fire sage from casting their explosions, so if your doing a less restrictive run that can help stop the magic dmg.
heck since it does no damage you could use it on most runs.
Does it work on Gwyndolin too?

@@joranvisser9070 It lets you see where priscilla is when she is invisible, you can avoid quelaag's AoE, as well as the Stray demon and demon Firesage's AoE attacks, among others. I think It lacks the range for Gwyndolin though. By the time you get in range for Vow of Silence to affect him, he'll be firing the bow, or teleporting. Further testing required.
I must say, I love seeing the pinwheel fight as it was actually (probably) intended.

I love when lemon just randomly invokes the spirit of hermes and writes a hard ass monologue just for shits and giggles
hearing the snippets of the Cult of the Lamb soundtrack playing in the background is my favorite part of the last few videos. that game has such a good OST
dunno about ds1 but in ds3 when you go to the archives and meet the crystal sage mini boss he'll teleport away if you do damage to him, but from experimenting, I learned that using toxic/poison mist on him will not trigger him to teleport away as long as that is the only thing damaging him.
The fact that you released this while I'm at work makes me want to set myself on fire until I can watch it at home.
Loved seeing the live runs and was just as fantastic a second time in the scripted version!

Man the Vilhelm quote at the end was so good! I love how it’s almost like Lemon has become this inter-dimensional being that beats these bosses with fire and as he kills the last one explaining how they will never be strong enough for him. Very good spot for it and very good video as usual!

Another fantastic video, thanks Lemon. For people who were curious about the question at 06:25, Lautrec will take gradual countdown damage from poison arrows (I use this method to kill him safely in Anor Londo). I expect the same would happen with Poison Mist. Haven’t tried this on other NPCs, as you can’t get the necessary distance from them.
This is awesome. The fact that it's moded in and feels like it's part of the game is amazing. On top of that the added options to how you can use the spells honestly makes the run much more interesting to watch

very cool run! the mods for this game never cease to surprise me and catch my interest. though I will say, a tip for anyone struggling with Nito's sword ground attack. if you two-hand a weapon and stand still the attack won't hit you because the hitbox is on the ground and you're straddling it with that stance.

Honestly one game I've always wanted to see him do a challenge run of was The Surge. It is just one of those odd little games that has that interesting mix of exo suit paired with darksoulsish combat and I'd feel could be entertaining

I wish to offer you a thankyou for playing DS1 - I've just finished all achievements on the Xbox360 version, over 9 years after trying it and failing miserably at it. Now while I'm still a bad player, watching you play and making it look 'easy' with really silly builds over the last couple of years has given me the knowledge i was lacking all those years ago to be actually able to play and beat the game, something I thought would never happen :)

About your question about if NPCs ignore poison mist. They do. It is my go to way to kill mimics in all 3 games for this reason. Just cast it and wait. It also works in Elden Ring this way, and the poison spell is the go to way to cheese overworld bosses for this reason
