      His father killed himself at 53 due to stress, presumably, as Ted said in the video.
      It's unlikely at 53 that he had Lewy Body Dementia, although he could have later on.

    • @quinnhendley4031
      @quinnhendley4031 6 років тому +7

      i heard what ted said. depression and suicidal thoughts are not uncommon for those with Lewy Body Dementia (as with robin williams) and genetics also plays its role - as with so many diseases. 53 is not too young to develop a multitude of severe and life threatening diseases. i'm pretty certain michael j. fox never thought he'd have to deal with a parkinson's diagnosis as such a young man - but he did.

      chelle, you should have his methylmalonic acid level checked. He might have a low B12 at the tissue level causing his problems and the neurologist just threw this Lewy Body label on him, because he didn't know what was causing his problems. I know a guy that went to 3 different neurologists and one said he had Lewy body dementia, one said Parkinson's and another said Alzheimer's. He ended up just having an extremely low B12 tissue level. A normal B12 blood test won't show the tissue level. The only way to test this is with a methylmalonic acid test, as it will always be elevated when the B12 tissue level is low. When this acid elevates due to the low B12, it dissolves the sheaths from the nerves that contain the electrical signals and causes all sorts of problems with coordination and movement. The elevated M acid also blocks enzymes in the urea cycle that convert ammonia to urea, which causes an elevated ammonia. The elevated ammonia causes hallucinations, depression and other neurological problems. How long has he been having these problems?

    He could just have a low B12 at the tissue level that was misdiagnosed. He said he was always tired, which is a symptom of extreme B12 deficiency as is the forgetfulness. B12 can show normal in the blood for years, while being low at the tissue level. When it gets low at the tissue it causes methylmalonic acid to elevate and it causes all kinds of neurological and nerve problems. It dissolves the myelin sheaths off the nerves that contain the electrical signals. This elevated acid also blocks enzymes in the urea cycle that converts ammonia to urea, which causes ammonia levels to rise, which can cause dementia, depression, hallucinations and other problems. The only way to know your B12 tissue level, is by testing the methylmalonic acid. When B12 is low at the tissue level, this acid will always be elevated. I know a guy who went to 3 different neurologists and one said he had Lewy body dementia, another said Parkinson's and another said Alzheimer's. The guy just had a low B12 tissue level. The low B12 was being caused by an elevated free copper level. When it got high, it depleted his body of B12. Some people have a low B12 due to low stomach acid or defective intrinsic factor protein in their stomach, which are both required for absorption. Free copper is a relatively new discovery and the test is different than a serum copper test. The lab corp test number at the lab corp labs in Oklahoma is 279071. If you know someone with dementia, I would have the free copper and Methylmalonic acid blood test done, regardless of what their doctor diagnosed them with.

    In 2019, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) celebrated its 25th anniversary during the TCM Classic Film Festival, and I was privileged to be in the audience at the TCL Theater in Hollywood when they honored the channel's namesake. Ted had made quite an effort to come to LA from Atlanta given his physical condition - to be there for the fans. Ted Koppel's interview was great, but it only scratched the surface of what Turner has done: he rescued and restored countless classic films that would have deteriorated and been lost forever if not for his efforts in acquiring the film collections of big studios like MGM. He also was a close friend of the late, great oceanographer, Jacques Cousteau, and was instrumental in seeing to it that educational programming and environmental awareness made it into America's homes. If there ever was an example of a self-made, Horatio Alger, Ted Turner is it. This was a great interview of an American icon.

    I feel for him, but he has lived a very charmed life and is 80 years old. So many others weren’t as fortunate. I hope he is at peace.

    "I said that years ago" "I really felt that way all the time" well at least the man is honest, most people now days would just blatantly lie about saying it or say somebody "misunderstood" them.

      I believe I heard him say "I really felt that way AT the time", which is also honest. Nothing wrong with changing our views as the years go on.

    As a student at Ga. Tech in 1969 and 70 I lived in a small apartment on 13th St a couple blocks from the Channel 17 building. I’d walk by it to classes every morning and get a marvelous and magical feeling that somehow lifted me up during a time of national angst. I felt it must have been his aura. What else could it have been ?

    God bless you Ted Turner. That you think first of your kids, your grandkids and this planet, when everything about your life could've made for the world's greatest narcissist... You have indeed lived your life to the fullest. You inspire. Well done thou good and faithful servant....

    I love Ted Turner So Much! I hope to cross paths with him again! I was employed by the American Cancer Society in Spokane, and represented the ACS when I met Ted as the Key Note Speaker. The then State Governor approached me & tightly grabbed ahold of me around my waist! 🥵😢🥴Ted was done speaking and he noticed the whole encounter! He approached the governor and said looks to me like this young lady doesn’t like you grabbing onto her sir and the governor just buggered off he was really creepy little guy and no one liked him but he thought he take a shot at someone he didn’t know and Ted was my hero that day we had a nice chat and it was a pleasant. Have a move to Atlanta Georgia and then hired by CNN I was going to my first day of being employed at CNN and around the corner came guess who Ted Turner he goes oh by golly are you working for us now and I said yes I am he goes well that’s fantastic it was so fun to see him again and I said you can’t possibly remember me he said I should do he said spoken Washington American Cancer Society I saved you from that creepy Governor and I giggled! I told him I liked Jane and congratulations and he giggled and so it was just a fun and counter and I certainly hope I get to see him again someday that would be wonderful hopefully in Montana my favorite state I love Montana I love my home state of Washington but I’ll tell you what Montana is something else you guys if you go there you’ve got to just spend some time is beautiful so that’s a little personal story about a Fabulous American man! God bless you all no matter what’s happening on our globe it’s really important to cherish and remember and share the fantastic things that we’ve gotten to it experience in America as Americans God bless you all reach out for your dreams bye for now!

    I could tell from the vacant look in his eyes he has difficult times ahead. Dementia can be just as bad if not worse than an Alzheimer's diagnosis. I have seen my grandmother, my aunt, my mother and my sister all have some sort of dimentia or Alzheimer's and it can turn the most creative and highly intelligent people into an empty vessel. I am so sorry for him.

    One evening back in the mid 90's I had just entered the lobby of a popular restaurant in Bozeman, MT. The owner was in the process of telling Ted Turner and Jane Fonda to leave his establishment. Apparently, he was a Viet Nam vet. Ted and Jane left quietly. I won't quote the owner... it was pretty harsh.
