- I'm in the process of putting together the 600cc engine from the Reliant Regal and have come up against a problem. The main big end bearings and the crankshaft are well worn. and need replacing. Let's see the assembly up until I found this out.

Good to see you back in the workshop on a project Martin. Thanks for the upload.
Get some fine wet and dry or ambrat cloth .that crank will polish out its only ally stuck to it making the ridges.and put a new set of shells in it
You'll have no problem getting a crank and bearings as Reliant Spares will have them. It's probably pricey but at least you'll get a warranty and stay original.
Nice to see your still rockin and rollin.. life moves on .. x
Polish the crank journals measure them to check if they are in tolerance, then fit new big end shells also check con rods for ovality where the big end shells fit.
Love the background music.. reminds me of battersea school days in 70’s… 🥲🥲👍
I'd do and have done what others have suggested, bit of fine wet and dry on the crank carefully and a new set of shells, takes a fair bit to kill a crank generally. Did that on my old Regal and that knocked like a trouper, was fine afterwards 🙂 I presume you've got the same shells on the same ends and not mixed them up, I did that with my mains by mistake and caused it to lock up.
Loving you being back in the workshop, looking forward to more
That crank should go again with some 1500 wet n dry and a new set of shells
Always look forward seeing updates on this project.
Looking forward to a longer vid on this next time ,great content 👍👍👍👍
Great to see you back on regal engine martin
Really been looking forward to this vid!
What a sod . Perhaps a local shop can machine the crank .
Great upload, that's a lovely wee motor
Not having much luck with that Martin but I'm sure you will get it sorted one way or another 👍👍👍👍
Speak yo Lewi buch he might be able to help with the engine. Good work so far 👏 👌
Only just subscribed to your channel , i subscribe to Butlers empire really enjoy that , & i really enjoyed this video as well . Keep up the great content .

A man of many talents hehe. I am sure the Reliant will be fantastic on the day. Worth all your. Hard work . If it was advice on a human body I could help you I am sure, but sadly car engines I have. No idea, much as I love cars .
Great work again mate what a shame
The guy on ebay wants £575 or best offer, throw him a cheeky bid you never know, loved the video👍👍
I did do, he ignored it. I'm getting the crank refurbished now.
A couple of rockets work I am told.
best i can offer is a 2.6 V6 🤣 that will make it shift if you can shoehorn it in 😂
Can't you get liners for them like some small garden power tools?
Bit of a school boy error do not use wet & dry if you really want to keep it original have it machined properly
Hi Martin I would try Lewis Buchan he is in Scotland and he has got lots of Reliant's, he might be able to help you out, good luck
I'm getting the crank refurbished now
I think Martin likes lubricating the shaft...
Hi. Amazing vids.
Do you have a vid on how to get that yellow look on restored car parts. Can’t remember the exact name of the colour. You often see it on the fan blade of an alternator.
I'm liking that reggae tune. Any chance you could name that song and i can listen to it this weekend whilst drinking a few pints of wine. Thanks
You never did answer my question
Hi Martin.Have you still got your bandit? If so when will you be doing some work on it?Thanks
Yes I have 2 bandits. 600 and 1200
@@retrorestore Looking forward to you working on them👍👍
I know lee lockwood another UA-camr removed a reliant engine a few months ago to fit a motorbike engine not sure if that ones available at UA-camr friends rates 😂
I'm getting the crank refurbished now.
There’s a guy in Kirkby on Bain that’s got a load of reliant 3 wheelers in his garden. He still drives around the area in one . Just an idea ?
Yes, I know of him Rick.
The man hours are adding up. Is it a keeper or an earner?
Such a shame Martin, but don’t lose hope
Did you say way back you worked for the BBC?
