- Considered one of the forerunners of today's Americana movement, Wild Choir recorded one self titled album on RCA Records in 1985. This video features lead singer and producer Gail Davies with Denny Bixby on bass, Bob Mummert on drums and Pete Pendras and Larry Chaney on guitars.
This song is so well-produced and performed it's hard to believe it wasn't embraced by rock radio, since it sounds like classic Linda Ronstadt.
What a joy to find this. I was a huge Gail Davies fan back in the day and
bought all her albums. Still sounds good.
Love how this songs goes the first 45 seconds with just bass guitar and drums.
Just saw bassist Denny Bixby here at McMenamin's Edgefield in Troutdale, Oregon with singer/songwriter/guitarist John Bunzow on 9/16/21. From 6-9pm they managed to sing the soundtrack of my life ... and they're both aging much better than their fans.
Just a beautiful . . . spine-tingling . . . goose-bump-crashing . . . work of art
Brilliant song, brilliant clip. Loved it in the 80s,still love it.
Wow....I loved this song.
Love this whole Album!!!
Another great Gail Davies song!! Thank You!
LOVE LOVE LOVE
I loved this song since the first time I heard it. It should have been a big hit. They were clearly ahead of their time; their "smooth country" sound and "pop fashion" look didn't fit into the then current country mold.
Agree they were ahead of the curve. Great pop tune with an infectious beat from the solid rhythm section. Great bass player holding it down and providing silky harmonies.
Denny Bixby on bass and vocals!
Love this easy listening with folk influences .
Wow I remember first seeing this on Night Tracks. Nights Tracks has a much more eclectic mix vs. MTV.
I love how the drum kit just randomly drops onto the floor.
I never saw a country band look like 1950s.
Why do they cut half her face out on closeups? Ruins a great performance and video but still give it a like.
This is a good version of the song....
Other good versions are by Michelle Wright, Martina McBride, and Bailey and the Boy's.
