I think you will feel inconvenient, because Jakarta and other cities in Java island are so density and there are traffic jams everywhere. It is so much different to your country
It must be admitted that Jakarta's landscape is chaotic. Industrial areas and residential areas are mixed in several areas. This is due to the explosion of regional migration to the city center of Jakarta. Which at that time was actually not sufficient. But in the central business area it is even better. I hope that in the future it will be more even.
Getting aorund in Jakarta is best with public transport. you gonna need card e-money/flazz/tapcash/jaklinko/brizzi to take public transport (i.e Transjakarta busses (BRT), MRT, LRT, KRL (commuter line train)) or the free tourism busses. You can get the card in Indomaret/Alfamart or use the card you get when entering Monas. Those cards also used for toll road/parking/etc and nation-wide. You entered Monas from the worng side. lol.

Thanks! I love every place I go, but I try to give an honest review, which sometimes includes negativity. Some people get upset saying, "They don't know blah blah blah", but the fact is we're well seasoned travelers, so if it's a problem for us then it's a problem for foreign tourists. If I complain about the public transit, you shouldn't take it personally. I'm just letting people know so they're prepared, and letting Indonesians know how they might be able to improve things. Overall, I found Indonesians to be incredibly friendly. Even the angry ones online are nice compared to most other cultures.
I think you badly misjudged Jakarta. It is an exciting and vibrant city to live in. I am not sure why you didn't find places to hang out and people watch - there are a large number of small and interesting coffee shops not Starbucks and not in malls) and many bars where you can go for drinks. I agree Cafe Batavia is a great place - although it used to be much, much better under previous management. Public transport is not great but busway is ok, if you know what you are doing. Taxis and online cars solve many of the problems. There are many walkable areas of Jakarta - if you know where to find them. But the times to go walking are early morning (5.30 to 9am) or late afternoon and evening - it is very hot so best to avoid walking between 9am and 5pm. I also agree to avoid the malls - they are just the same as anywhere else in the world. I hope you give Jakarta another try as it has a lot to offer - if you know where to look.

I went to the website for the mosque. No mention of the hours on it. That brings up another question, why are Indonesian websites so slow? The government websites barely work. I think they're putting too much computing power into blocking porn sites.
you should visit TMII (Taman Mini Indonesia Indah) walk around and stay until night to see light water show, it is pretty new and it is beautiful show also you should visit PIK and PIK2 and Aloha beach (all in same nearby area)
Legally speaking, Jakarta is no longer the capital but now it is a special region (Daerah Khusus). Our new capital is in the island of Borneo (Kalimantan), called Nusantara.
"Batavia is the indigenous group who originally lived in the area". Batavia is the Dutch name for Jakarta, from the Batavi tribe, indigenous to the Netherlands area. They're the ancestors of the Dutch. There's a ethnic group in Indonesia called "Betawi", but they are basically a mixed-ethnic group people from Batavia/Jakarta.

Jakarta is too modernized now. They don't preserve much of the old building and history. It's kind a hard to get around. So I just use the motorcycle taxi. Wow,you guys choose a weird place to walk😅I see nagging vlog here😂,try search more about Jakarta...there's a lot of tourist information if you makes a sincerity effort.
You should research first before making video to make sure you go to the right place so you will be judging based on a rightly representative area in making conclusion. You haven’t been to South Jakarta and PIK area but saying it’s very difficult to find coffee shop?? It’s like complaining you can’t find a casino in America but doesn’t even go to las vegas. For the transport, you haven’t even tried the MRT or transjakarta bus. You can use one single card to take bus, train and MRT. In terms of cleanliness and pedestrian friendly roads, yes some parts of Jakarta are really bad in that aspect but other parts (which you haven’t visited) are nice with clean big sidewalk and beautiful greenery. Yes, there are many room for improvement for Jakarta tourism, I agree. Jakarta is very big, when you go from one place to another is like you go to a different city, in fact it is like a different country when you visit to SCBD. Therefore, I suggest you should see everything before making general assumptions so you don’t give inaccurate guides for your viewers who’s never been to Jakarta
Thanks for your comment. We had plans to go to PIK, but we ran out of time. I'm intrigued by south Jakarta - I wanted to stay there - but it's quite far from the tourist attractions. We did end up taking the bus. It was much easier than I thought it would be, and faster. Google maps said the bus would take an hour, but it was only 30 min. But I disagree about the coffee shops. There should be coffee shops everywhere, not just in certain neighborhoods. The old town is pleasant, but it would be even better with some outdoor tables along the streets and square, places to sit and watch people while sipping a drink.
The same visa issue happened to me in Bali. My passport has my Middle Name and I didn’t put it on the eVisa. But the agent could fixed it his computer for $10 usd. I was coming from Bangkok and only had Thai baht. He did the conversion on his phone and happily took it! I avoided the big line 😂 and he made a tip 😂
Visiting Jakarta only 1 or 2 days...?? Jakarta is 2nd largest megacity in the world after Tokyo.. It's really inadequate. What is surprising is that 99% of foreign tourists (youtubers) who visit Jakarta consider Jakarta a culinary tourism paradise, especially for street foods.. Jakarta's public transportation in 2022 has received an award (STA) as the best in the world, even beating cities like Paris. Frankfurt, Los Angeles..
The fact that Indonesia is Primarily Buddhist in 11/16 century, and people were not forced to convert to Islam by Arabs Traders if we want a free carpets and Discount🤣
Jogja (yogyakarta) is much nicer! Great sites, easy bus system, and easily the most friendly place I have ever been! Enjoy your trip!! - The lunch date with your weird/cheap friends to help you move some furniture will happen soon!
Idk why so expertize about Jakarta or any other parts in Indonesia.. Sounds cynica and first world mentality as well as judgemental person you are.. . Let me ask you straightforward, what is the point that you made this vlog about Indonesia?
Thank you for your honest opinion but I have to say it came from a very limited experience of Jakarta. Public transport is not great, all Indonesians would agree with that sentiment, but going to places like the Old Town or the National Monument is easy if you use the train or the bus, and it’s also super cheap. Coffee shops are actually aplenty and they have different styles in every region. And that’s what irks me the most, saying Bali is the least “Indonesian” place in Indonesia even after visiting other places other than Bali. I’m from Borneo where it’s worlds apart from Jakarta or Bali, but we’re all still Indonesian. It’s especially irritating when you use religion as the base of your judgment. Then, are Catholic-majority places like East Nusa Tenggara not “Indonesian” enough, even when they’re the birthplace of Pancasila, our national ideology?

Jakarta is 2nd largest megacity in the world after Tokyo.. It's really inadequate.
What is surprising is that 99% of foreign tourists (youtubers) who visit Jakarta consider Jakarta a culinary tourism paradise, especially for street foods.. Jakarta's public transportation in 2022 has received an award (STA) as the best in the world, even beating cities like Paris. Frankfurt, Los Angeles..
If you're going to the mosque during friday afternoon then it's gonne be close cause there's friday prayer for muslim from 11 to 13.00.

- The lunch date with your weird/cheap friends to help you move some furniture will happen soon!
easy bus system?? , are u coping?
Jakarta definitely is NOT a walking city 😅. It's much better to take a city tour from an air-conditioned bus.
Idk why so expertize about Jakarta or any other parts in Indonesia.. Sounds cynica and first world mentality as well as judgemental person you are.. . Let me ask you straightforward, what is the point that you made this vlog about Indonesia?
I wasn't thinking about going to Jakarta on my next trip to Indonesia... now I definitely won't! Thanks for the video ❤🙏🙈
Like I care.. Jakartan don't want you visit either forever!!

13% of Indonesians are Christians, not 0.77%!
0,77 itu budha....kristen di indonesia bukan 13% tapi 10%.....lagi ngapain lo ngurus2in agama...😂 di negara2 barat udah banyak yg jadi ateis...contohnya di belanda yg ngaku beragama kristen hanya 38%
I said 0.77% are Buddhist, not Christian.

Another great upload guys. Must admit, my only experience with Indonesia is Bali - but can confirm, Indonesians are super friendly. And I happen to like left breasts.
I guess... But c'mon... Right breasts are so much better.
She's pretty, very rude of you calling her big head on camera. She obviously didn't feel comfortable.
She's the best, and she has a great sense of humour. Trust me, she wasn't insulted.
