  • This is how I installed a Lithium Phosphate 100Ah auxiliary battery in the back of my Pajero NT for my fridge/freezer and 12V oven etc. It's very neat and clean and should last a long time. Although similar to what some others have done, my method is definitely tidier and does not compromise access to other parts of the car. For example, it does not block access to the jack handle stored in the rear of the cavity where the new battery is mounted. This video includes details for all of the components used and the wiring.

Thanks for the video mate. Pretty clearly explained. Is quite a scary proposition running cables from one end to the other of a car. Feeling more confident now thanks to you.

Thanks for posting this video. Great to see other Pajero owners sharing their knowledge and experience for the benefit of others.

Thanks for the encouragement. It's not a very polished video but I hope it helps. Let me know if you need any clarifications if you intend to do something similar.

I did a full inspection of the new battery install after doing some 4WD tracks. All good. Battery is locked down. No issues.

Thanks for that +ve feedback. I've just installed a 2nd Aux battery beside the original as well as a 3KW inverter. Will upload the new video in the next day or so.

thanks for posting this LS , I've just purchased a second hand Pajero and am looking at options for aux batteries. I had eyed off that cavity under the rear floor so it's good to know it can work !

Hi. I am on my first 4WD adventure with the new battery (and solar panel). Everything is working perfectly and when I get back to Melbourne and empty the car I'll have a look at the battery to see if the mount survived the bashing I gave it. Looks promising so far and I'll post the result. BTW I've used my 12v oven a few times on this trip and can say that the battery is more than adequate to run it and my fridge.

Thanks Philip. Returned a week or so from a 2000k trip including some 4wd ttmracks and I can confirm all worked flawlessly and battery is solid.

@@LS-lp3vl good to know it worked well and survived some 4WD adventures. How have you got your fridge set up ? I was just wondering if you've got it on a slide on top of where the new battery is ? I'm just thinking if I did that then it would restrict access to that cavity and I'd have to relocate the jack in case I needed it ???

      Hi Philip,
Apols but I've been away. I made a fridge slide. The slide is itself reasonably lightweight and portable so that I can remove it fairly easily to use in another car when needed. The base of the slide is cut short to allow the flap to be partially opened into the cavity. Is there a way I can send a photo?
