For those of you confused:
David Bowie was NOT a drag queen, but he did drag. Just like Lady Gaga in 2008-2011.
That may be true, but he did it in the 70's not the 80's.
So he's still a bad choice for that decade.
Some thing New about him that my Mom has not told about People he's fab of...
@@johanvajse8410 Meaning he was ahead of his time!
The 80s look reminds me of Cyndi Lauper more than 80s era Bowie. They easily could have had Divine for the 80s, and Ziggy Stardust/Halloween Jack for the 70s.
@@johanvajse8410 agree and it's not even accurate...Bowie did wear a dress and they don't even feature that
Why do people hate drag queens?
Men literally preformed as women before women where “allowed” too.
If it were that simple though 🙄🙄🙄

Raja, condragulations you’re the winner of this weeks challenge
Bahahahahaha
Excuse me, I think you meant DETOX
They should also include the grunge scene of drag. Adore is showing that, but it's like not talked about at all.
AGREED
Tyler Lethersin because it's messy
Edgardo V Reyes hi are you new to drag, because it's always been messy.
Stephanie DeFranco I mean it would of been better then that future part. Really are future of drag, is just copying the 80's & 90's with some new trends today.
Tyler Lethersin there wasn't much of a grunge scene in drag up till around this point. Adore is really the leader in the movement cuz yes she's really inspired by 90's grunge but at that same time in the 90's the big thing was club kids, which was the over the top crazy avant garde drag. Think Bjork on lsd. Acid Betty is really reminiscent of it.
Kim Chi came so far. She finally knows how to dance in heels

I'm glad they honored Raven's signature look for the 2000s because her makeup is really the most influential in this era. She has innovated such good techniques.
Muskan Gupta agreed but the makeup didn’t look anything like hers
Should’ve had Raja do that one😭

Drag Queens in general make me so happy. Once, when I was 7, I ran up to a Drag Queen and and I yelled really loud “YOU’RE SO BEAUTIFUL!” She looked down at me and said “Oh sweety you’re even more beautiful than I am!” and I was so happy that I raised my arms and asked her to hug me! She did so without a question and I was so happy! It’s still a good memory to me! I just love these ladies!
K. Rose Drag queens can go outside? They don't only hang in clubs. When I was in Key West, Florida I saw some drag queens hanging about in the streets taking pictures with people and stuff.
K. Rose I was outside lol walking with a friend at night
THATS SO CUTE
KidOfANoKidder I never met a drag queen but they seem so nice when they appear on TV! They also make me happy!!!
What a cool story :)
Very gentle drag
Don’t get me wrong. No tea no shade. Like I’m the biggest hoe when it comes to drag queens. Like there my favorite people ever. But I wish the styles were more accurate
Same, they're pretty, but not in an accurate way.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
No tea, no shade, no pink lemonade
Thank you sis!
I'm especially unhappy with the supposed "Divine" look.
Why did the 80s remind me of a s very early 2000s jeffree star

David Bowie and also Jeffree
Everyone in the comments needs to understand what drag is, it is a costume. It's no different to your favourite actor playing a role in a film. Think what you want about trans people, but stop confusing them with drag queens/kings.
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
Indigo Jay EXACTLY!!! THANK YOU!
really some people are so narrow minded & yes dumb they confuse the two
Let us not forget that people confuse cross dressers with both communities. they are not dressing to the extreme as drag queens do and they have no interest in changing genders. They just like the clothes of the opposite sex.
Indigo Jay one time I was talking to my friend about drag race and he goes "that sounds neat. I'm a big supporter of transgender people." Like okay you mean well but like.... I politely let him know they aren't the same thing bc he didn't know better. But It's unknowingly so offensive to trans people to put them in the same category. And a trans woman is just a woman, and most don't want to be a caricature of a woman, doing death drops and painting their faces over the top and wearing wigs. They just are normal women and most want to fit in as a normal woman not as a costume of a woman. If a trans woman does drag, that'd make her a woman who does drag, which does exist (forgot her name but I know there was a trans woman on S4 or 5 of drag race). Anyways.
Why didn't Raja do all of them? She was there.
Good one :D
SCREAMING!!!!
Do you know how long that would take? But still, they could have given looks to more queens, so they could each perfect a look. But $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Ofcourse its ginger ming
I love drag queens but this wasn’t really accurate to the time , this was more like their interpretation
alondra perez I mean it literally says these are looks inspired by. They weren’t aiming for time accuracies in accessories hair or fabrics.
i mean read the description
1) read the description 2) the video OBVIOUSLY and CLEARLY states that these are inspiration based but I guess you arent keen enough to see that 3) Theyre just showcasing the history of drag the makeup have to be 100% accurate
At least they tried.
It says "INSPIRATION"
Kim Chi is so beautiful!
ikr!!! they're my fave
Amu Loux I soo agree with you she can work it
Amu Loux Yeaaa, Kim chi should've won season 7 of rpdr. Really disappointed
+Onee- Chan Kim Chi was season 8. I thought Bob really deserved it, but I would also have been thrilled if Kim won. They're equally talented but in different ways.
Amu Loux yes
but the real question is, where are the 2010's???
Skedadlee the 2010s aren't over yet
Skedadlee I wish they put them! then we could have miss fame!
Aveyon DoesGaming true, but I think we can agree that fashion from the early 2010s is different from current fashion lol
Skedadlee I think because of the fact that leotards and high boots are still a thing right now they just kinda meshed them with early 2k stuff from the neck up (and added studs from 08)
Skedadlee everywhere 😜
Shouldnt this start even earlier with Medieval theatre? When men played women roles?
I WAS THINKING THE EXACT SAME.
It is a "100 years of..." video, they always show the past 100 years, not the entire history.
^ and to add to that, the reason that existed was because women weren’t allowed on stage…
Kabuki did it first
@@heyitsmira17 Wrong. Kabuki started in 1603. Shakespeare started writing plays around 1585, in a tradition going back years of men presenting female roles.
Wow i remember when i watched this Video and litteraly did not know any of These queens....now I know who EVERYBODY is
Cherry subliminals samee
Kim Chi is incredible, but her makeup didn't fit in with her eras. It's quite unique, which gives her a great advantage, but not for this presentation. Still, she was gorgeous here.
Right. Was the same thing every time, more or less. Oh well! Still gorge :)
Heck yeah! He is awesome!
Agreed, I feel she wasn't the right choice for something like this. She put a twist on each of the looks, which made it her own and super unique, but it didn't stay true to the era like the rest of the queens' makeup did.
Jimmy Mitchell I wish they let her todo the future look. She would've been a better choice than shangela. Still everyone looked amazing ugh I love them all so much!
These looks were "Inspired" by those eras, they didn't represent them.
I don't know why but seeing them makes me happy.
I have a strong feeling that these weren't really accurate but I still had a great time watching this!

Why do people always miss 2010s out of these chronological/timeline stuff? We're more than halfway through this decade.
...and still it has nothing interesting to offer.
surfmadpig True, but some people act like the 2010s doesn't exist or we're still in the 2000s
I'm worse, I act like we're still in the '90s. A great time to be in.
It's because the 2010s aren't over yet. It's hard to say what or who influenced it the most when it's not over yet. It can always change.

Drag is a accronym meaning 'dress resembling a girl' used often in the original scripts of Shakespeare plays. If he actually invented the term is unknown but he definitely popularised it
Hello! You've never heard of Kabuki theater? Hundreds of years ago in Japan women weren't allowed to perform on stage. Men played all the roles.
Boobalopbop as well in shakesperes time, just throwing that out there Lol. Romeo and Juliet was two men :))
Because they were afraid the women would be stalked by men & sleep with them, so they switched to young boys. Who STILL were stalked by and had affairs with men.
also this really shows you how talented drag queens are
they can do their hair in incredible styles they are amazing makeup artists i mean they invented contouring and have a killer since of fashion
and some are even more talented like jinx monson not only he can do all the above but he can sing , write songs , dance , act and some of them are at incredible levels

Raja has a noticeable bump on her feet in heels, I wonder if that's just natural bone structure or if it's a painful condition from wearing such high heels for all the years in drag? A small thing that's probably nothing but it has me suddenly considering how uncomfortable these men are and that drag queens probably end up suffering long term for their art (such as the pageant girl hair style that causes some queens' hair to thin at the front, permanent eyelash loss from weave glue, or the binding tape literally rubbing skin raw). A lot of people probably assume it's easy for queens, that it's jut a wig, makeup and a dress but I don't think the general public really consider how much goes into creating that illusion, from the gaff/tuck,keeping them looking feminine from the waist down, the corset digging in to give a shape, the heels killing their feet, hot itchy wigs, oversized heavy jewellery, padding making them feel overheated and restricting movement and the hours of artistry spent making it all come together...makes me really appreciate the art more since having watched Drag Race and seeing the process.
You realize that with the exception of the tuck, women wear this shit EVERY DAY, right? Hot itchy padded bra's, heavy weaves for black women, skin destroying makeup, painful heels that are sometimes REQUIRED in the workplace?
Jocelyn Welch of course I "realise" these things having been female for the past 37 years (as of today it's 37 years anyway). I've gotten used to the pain of bras (being a 38g it took some time), the feeling of corsets, belly busters and Spanx, etc, and heels can be sore yeah, but stilettos with a particularly high heel to sole ratio aren't usually forced workwear unless you're in particular industries and aren't street shoes. In the uk it's "health and safety" for most working shoes to be flat or low heel. Guess elsewhere it's a different story. Here, unless women are out on the town, you don't see heels much and even heeled boots are pretty low. But perhaps it's because I am a woman I can appreciate the pain and discomfort of drag more than a man probably would unless he's done it. Was just a thought is all.
JadeLeaf1980 ?? In the U.K. recently there was a massive petition to stop employers forcing women to wear heels in the workplace? And the government rejected it in April this year? One receptionist was sent home without pay from Pwc because she refused to wear heels. It's definitely still an issue in the uk.
JadeLeaf1980 the bump on Raja's feet is likely a natural thing. Wearing such high heels regularly will make a person's arches higher.
Jocelyn Welch why just black women? Every race of girls wears weaves idiot
Raja is giving me life wow
