- Check our other VIDS for more from #wiunion!!! Tim McIlrath from the band Rise Against came to Madison, WI on February 21st of 2011 to play in support of those involved with the Wisconsin Labor Protests. He preformed Ohio and Who'll Stop the Rain.
Thank you for Tim and everybody coming to this event and protest I was there and even though in the end we lost the battle I feel like We did our best To prove that education is Paramount and anytime collective bargaining rights are taken from any Union including Public unions Some major form of protest needs to happen it's a shame that Obama couldn't keep his word when he said he would Put his shoes on and stand on the line with anybody that protests somebody taking away collective bargaining rights from any Union but Tim showed up some Rage showed up because honesthey're probably better leaders than we have Running this country currently evenhinder democratic president Biden And a narrow Margin in the house and a slim majority in the senate. But when is the gerrymandering Wisconsin going to change I now currently live in Illinois in Chicago and Scott Walker was one of the main reasons I best and I hope people know that people that disagree with me fine you weren't in my position My position was worsened by his reign Incompetent conservative b******* And so Was Wisconsin's whole educational system
awesome!!
Tim, what an amazing man
Tim McIlrath is just the best.
such a perfect song for this protest
They performed in Kent last week for the first time ever. Ohio had the whole crowd going insane.
I learned this sing because of Tim
the guy who shouted out "re-education through labour!" lol
I love him!
omfg.... how i love him *-*
damn i love tim mcilrath so freaking much. i wish i was as smart and as involved in politics as he is... it would be amazing to understand politics enough to be able to make arguments about it. or find great songs like these two, but like i said i don't even know half as much as he is.
Tim would like a good President! He is a strong man !
i really wish he was more famous than he is. he is way better than all of those stupid pop singers because he can actually sing live. i REALLY wish i was there!!!!!!!!!
best lead singer singing a GREAT song.. im from ohio!!
Awesome video dude!
@CashMoneyCats damn right, i was there. Great show
I don't even live in Wisconsin,(I live in Ontario) but I have to feel for the uniopn workers cosidering my dad is a bus driver...
@TimJaRoss #1 Of course it does, but you implied a causative link between the strength of unions in a state, and the state's financial crisis. I named five states with unions stronger than Illinois. #2 Of course private schools spend less than public schools, the costs are subsidized by the students' parents. #3 Teachers educate future generations. Cops and firefighters put their lives on the line everyday. So they deserve to receive the best pay and the best benefits.
Rise against is too amazing to care about you Tim has said I'd rather have 100 people hear my music than have 100 dollars in my pocket looks like the way your wording your thoughts you've already fallen victim to this amazing music :D
ten soldiers and nixon comin, were finally on our own, this summer i hear the dummin, 4 dead in ohio!!! neil young made this priceless...tim mcilrath made it that even more.
@MadDistortion maybe you should learn that Neil Young, who created this song, didn't play with Creedence but with Buffalo Springfield
Start at 1:12
@MadDistortion Ah I see, I meant that I learned Ohio not Who'll stop the rain. I already know how to play that and also it's from CCR
@TimJaRoss No one is disputing that he won the election, however unfortunate it may have been. There is a correlation between SAT/ACT scores and strong teachers' unions, so it doesn't make sense to say that teachers' unions are harming our children's future. Besides, the protesters are not just teachers. They're also policemen, firefighters, and other first responders. All these people want are fair wages and decent benefits, including decent health care coverage. Is that really too much to ask?
@spisild Well in that case I apologize for the misunderstanding.
@SarniaSteel I was just explaining how that specific form of government has faults. I completely agree that every form does, including our own, as it is true that our country is going in the fucking toilet
@TimJaRoss I did look up the facts on public vs. private school test scores. The mean test score of private school are not impressive, especially for the cost of private schools parents have to pay. And answer this for me. If the most bankrupt states are the ones with the strongest unions, shouldn't Illinois have the strongest unions? And you once again failed to answer my first question, so I will ask it again. Is it unfair for teachers, cops, and firefighters to have fair wages and benefits?

@rws762 what a fucking badass.
DANCEING FOR RAIN!!
@lucifer898 Damn straight!
@MadDistortion non taken bro
From Ohio :D
@spisild Maybe you should look back on your history because this song was definitely originally created by John Fogerty of CCR in 1970. Gf kid
@SarniaSteel i don't think communism is its own country so America does not owe communism anything. We do owe China a fuck ton of money, and although they're technically communist, it's hard to believe it is actually true since China is not totalitarian and communism only works on paper. It's impossible to implement into a realistic society without having faults.
i like :)
@spisild Maybe you should learn it because of Creedence Clearwater Revival instead?
@MadDistortion show me proof of this and I would bid you right
damn I was hoping he'd sing dancing for rain or at least a rise against song XD
@rws762 rise against don't care about downloading music illegal at al, and they don't care about how much records they sell
@TimJaRoss You didn't answer my question. And I did look up those so-called facts of yours. The most bankrupt state is Illinois, whose union membership is only 15 to 20 percent. Meanwhile, New York, New Jersey, Alaska, Hawaii, and Michigan have union memberships of 20 percent or higher. Not that it matters, because th majority of states are insolvent anyways. You're wrong again about non-union private schools. There is no reliable data. Thank you, try again.
@hunnygotowned :D
@freimanfisk
I see what you did thar.
1:10 DANCING FOR RAIN
haha that song doesn't really fit and would need an electric but ok
@spisild After seeing you're from denmark and not america I don't blame you for your lack of knowledge. If you don't know from general knowledge that "who'll stop the rain" was written by john fogerty along with "travelin band" then you're simply not worth my time bro.
pfft......should of sang state of the union
@rws762 whoa. You're cool. Pff -_-
@dcgny2 wait wait wait if communism is that bad why does america owe them so much money ?
@dcgny2 first I was more joking then anything, I understand that communism is not a place. Id say that because they are not totalitarian doesn't have much to do with them being communist. I guess it all depends on how literal you take the term. You are right about it having faults but what forms of government don't have faults? Capitalism sure seems to in the later years anyway as now what 1% of the people own 99% of the money in ways Id say we are loosely a dictatorship with a vote lol
