Thanks very much Mike I have turned a few, the crotch pieces especially have so much beautiful erratic grain it's a pleasure to turn them, Kind regards From Will 😊👍
Really like this piece William. I won't be trying anything with wings for a long time until I have loads more experience. I quite fancy keeping my fingers intact & not breaking my arm or wrist. Great job mate 👍🏴
Thanks very much Jim, they can be a bit scary at first but when you get your first smack on the knuckles you soon learn where to NOT put your hands, so I've been told 😉😁
What beautiful colours! Great finish and design to show them off. I have a similar crotch piece of ash to cut up and turn, I don't think I'll brave the wings, although if it has those colours.....
If you look at the finished piece the longest side of the piece the bark was a little green, but the tree was dead hadn't produced any leaf in the past two years. 😊
I put a scrap piece of wood in the chuck with a bit of router matt to make a friction drive, place the piece between it and pointy live center and turn most of the tennon away then power sand the little nub away, hope that answers your question, Kind regards From Will 😊
Morning Will, I know you have turned them before but this is the first winged bowl I've watched you make. You make it look so easy 😁great work!!!

Hi Will, was the wood still green when it was turned?
If you look at the finished piece the longest side of the piece the bark was a little green, but the tree was dead hadn't produced any leaf in the past two years. 😊
Thanks. I was curious as the initial shaving were peeling off smoothly, that had me thinking it might have been green wood. All ths best.
How did you remove the tenon?
I put a scrap piece of wood in the chuck with a bit of router matt to make a friction drive, place the piece between it and pointy live center and turn most of the tennon away then power sand the little nub away, hope that answers your question,
Kind regards From Will 😊
