  • What’s going on guys and welcome back to the channel! We all know the 4D Coaster thanks to the name X2. Some say it’s the best coaster on Earth, and others say the opposite, but regardless, there’s no denying the impact it’s had on modern day coasters. However, many of you probably still don’t know the history of the model and the ride itself. So today, I’m gonna fill you in on just that. Here is the history of 4D roller coasters! 😎🎢

    I rode X2 for the first time yesterday and it completely blew my mind. I was totally speechless after. Arrow’s final mark on the industry was well worth it.

      If S&S only built more lol. Makes having having the flash pass worth it for Magic Mountain tbh. Most intense ride hands down in all the west coast. Only downer is you went while they are only running a single train while the other 2 are under maintenance so longer wait times

    • @GMoney-B
      @GMoney-B 3 роки тому

      Where did you sit on the train? I went on it a little over a year ago I think and sat in my previously favorite spot of the front, right side(as you are seated in the station looking at the control panel/bridge), and I had never ever felt it so rough and frankly on any ride or anything, even green lantern. I was being shaken so violently throughout and on the last raven turn particularly that I was actually thinking to myself something similar to "I don't know if my body is going to make it physically through this". I was a single rider so there could have been a heavy load on the opposite side of the car. The attendant also stapled me in too. I sure hope they have fixed or refurbished the trains better if they have been wearing hard. I am not exaggerating in the slightest either, to give you reference of my pain/force tolerance, I actually liked green lantern because it was the most intense amount of g's I have ever and probably will ever have experienced, however when I rode x2 It was so violent that I actually was questioning if I was going to make it. It was my favorite ride, and because of that; I will definitely give it another shot because there is no way that level of beating could be happening on a daily basis for majority of riders, with also having ridden it probably 30-50 times as x2. It's probably the closest thing I think I will have felt to Ellie on the movie contact when she is going through space and her chair is getting yanked and pummeled.

    • @GMoney-B
      @GMoney-B 3 роки тому

      @@jacota1445 Well, It has always been somewhat bouncy and rough, however I do think it is to be expected to some degree as it is definitely a ride that is far more intense than others, even if just thinking about height and speed. I can only imagine it's gotta be 4+ g's on that thing too. I do think sometimes it has some bad days and or rides.
      I hope some day they will refurbish or re-open the ride with a retheme to justify the costs of redoing the restraints. I just was seeing a video of the S&S Joker ride that uses practically the same seats as X but with restraints like on B&M flyers with a type of vest restraint. I think they could pull that off. Would lighten the weight of the trains since the current ones have WAY more mechanics for all the different hinges and locks, as well as cut out downtime and also drastically speed up dispatches too. Would be way way more comfortable also. X2's feel like they are coated with cement.

    I absolutely LOVE the 4-D coasters! X blew me away when it opened. It was the most unique thing I had ever been on. I was there for ACE media day and rode it 20 times in a row until I was getting motion sick. That’s a record for me. I have never rode a ride that many times in a row before. I also love the impressive location of this ride, right at the entrance. An imposing view that leaves no doubt as to what the park is all about. The view from the lift hill is impressive too.
    I wish more of these were built so everyone could get the chance to experience a 4D coaster!

    Through a lot of research it wasn't X2 that bankrupted Arrow, but it certainly was part of their downfall. I agree with @Harrison, if you go upside down it is an inversion. As an avid fan of Alan, and Six Flags being my home park I can say without a doubt that the lighter trains make the ride less intense. Smooth and more reliable yes, but those old trails would whip your body around like crazy in that back row!

    I love X2. I was a little intimated to ride it but had made up my mind before flying to California to ride it. WOW! This is the only rollercoaster to ever make me scream, close my eyes and want my mom. I rode it another eight times that day. I ride it at least half a dozen times every time I go to the park. Though I wish they would install some dampers to the seat mechanisms as it can really bash the back of your head as it has aged.

    X is not what bankrupted Arrow. Alan Schilke said it happened when they put large amounts of time and money into a giant J-shaped roller coaster on the side of a skyscraper in Las Vegas before asking for approval from the city, which was eventually denied. This is from an interview he did (with X at 11:33 and bankruptcy at 27:30).

    I would love to ride X2, but I'm curious if anyone else thinks S&S will make a hybrid model between the free-spin and the 4D spin? Basically what I'm picturing is the RMC track concept of the free-spin model, but instead of just a series of raven curves the track would actually make some banked turns and a zero-g roll, etc. The scale just wouldn't be like X2, it would be more compact, but not nearly as compact as the free-spin model.
