X2 Review | Six Flags Magic Mountain's Insane Prototype 4th Dimension Roller Coaster

- X2 is an unbelievable roller coaster built by Arrow Dynamics, which officially opened in the public in early 2002. The project ended up being so costly and problematic that it caused Arrow to go bankrupt. The ride remains the only one of its kind in the Western Hemisphere, and is an absolute beast to conquer. The ride features unique rotating seats throughout the experience that causes riders to do various flips and rotations across a variety of elements.

Went on this when I was 12, opening year. My experience up til then, living in Vegas, was Canyon Blaster, Manhattan Express and the now closed Speed at the Sahara. Then we finally made it to Magic Mountain. My dad and I bolted to X2 when the park opened and still waited 30 minutes. We jumped in the back row, strapped in and headed up the lift amazed at the view. What followed next was a string of profanities flying out of my mouth that no parent should ever have to hear their child say. The picture was me screaming qnd my dad looking at me crying from laughing. There may be a battle over love it or hate it. But it's hands down my favorite ride.
I first rode X2 in 2022. And yeah the same thing happened with me only I was sitting next to my cousin. All the profanity came out of my mouth. Especially the first drop.
Absolutely obsessed with this nightmare experience. This is the only roller coaster that truly feels dangerous to ride, and I’m here for it. 10/10 would pray on-ride again.
The only other ride that made me feel like was dying was Intimidator 305
X2 and I305 are the only roller coasters that still truly scare me.
It hurts, it hurts!!
Agree, recently rode dinoconda 4 times… felt like a tornado got a hold of u… to me these rides are the pinacle of roller coaster violence… 10/10 for me, tho i do understand other rides can match or top it without this level of intensity…
I personally love the outside seats. I ride this ride because I want it to feel as out of control as possible. The outside seats just fling you around like a rag-doll and I think it is just brilliant. Painful? Slightly, but still just so insane it is worth it.
I can’t agree with you more! This thing is TOTALLY out of control and I love it to death! By far the best coaster that I’ve ever been on and I’ve been on quite a few!
In order to avoid future backlash, I suggest getting a sponsor other than Established Titles. They’ve been outed as a scam and people have come at those who are sponsored by them.
Established Titles is a scam, you probably shouldn't promote them. It doesn't make you a lord, you literally pay them for a piece of paper that is worthless.
Great review! Arrow will be missed-They had so many contributions to the industry. But Alan Schilicke is one heck of a designer, a true legend. X2 looks awesome, but if I ever get the chance to ride it, you can be sure as heck that I’m going to fight for the inside seat😂this is definitely one of the most polarizing coasters among enthusiasts.
S&S needs to bring back the 4D model. When engineered properly, it’s one of the best coasters on Earth, even after 20 years.
@@karlstrauss2330 for sure! Eejanika and Dinoconda look amazing.
They still have it on their website, but the ride is very pricey, and is an extreme ride that only the hard-core will re-ride.
Fun Fact : Established Tiles is a scam /:
They are not recognized by the Lord Lyon King of Arms of Scotland (who is responsible for Heraldry, tracking legitimate Scottish titles (and some other stuff. “Established Titles” is a scam that will sell you a piece of paper “proclaiming” that you are a Lord/Lady of somewhere.
Great video!
Established Titles is a scam. A lot of other UA-camrs are realizing and sending out apologies. Be careful
Established title is a scam, you don't actually own any land and nobody would recognize the title as the sale of land this way is illegal in Scotland.
Only Established title has a record of what land you "own" and there is no way to actually know that they planted a tree or that you got a unique plot of land. They're also based off of Hong Kong which allows them to skirt a lot of laws. Basically you're paying for a fake digital certificate so just be aware
Also this was my first coaster lol
Finally, the re-review we’ve been waiting for!
One of them. I’m still eagerly awaiting the video of Taylor’s latest visit to La Ronde.
My favorite rollercoaster I've ridden. It's simply insane! I've never ridden on the inside but will try it next time. It's the only rollercoaster ever to get me to scream and close my eyes. I rode it another eight times that day; I just couldn't get enough of it.
Back seat inside row is my favorite ride in the world. Just absurd, I giggled the whole time.
Established Titles is a scam
I’m really sorry to be the bear of bad news guys. But Established Titles is a scam company. I suggest looking into them more before proceeding with their sponsorship.
You two, and all of your friends, are my favorite UA-camrs. Thanks for all the great content!
I am glad to see that you are posting again. I am glad that you are back! You are my favorite coaster youtuber!
Isn't established titles a scam? lol
Just a psa the sponsor you have is a scam and not real
Hey just a heads up, because you guys really don't need any more controversy right now, but that "established titles" sponsor has been revealed as a complete fraud. A ton of youtubers have already made videos about it and suspended their contracts with them. You'd be wise to do the same.
Here's a tip for anyone riding X2. If you're able to, put your feet on the seat like you're crouching. It completely eliminates all the leg banging
My 8 year old son loved HangTime at Knotts and wanted to try some bigger coasters. So we went to Magic Mountain and went on X2, and he said he had to close his eyes and didn't want to do it again.
Then we went on Goliath, Twisted Collosus, and Apocalypse, and he said he wanted to do X2 again so he could keep his eyes open. He loved it the 2nd time.
That's great to know! I might be going to Magic Mountain soon and my 8 year old wants to ride it but I feel kinda weird about it. He has done Iron Gwazi, El Toro, Lightning Rod among others. Just this one has such a reputation for being scary that it makes ME a little scared of him riding it lol.
@randyobando1836 It is a VERY intense ride, no question. There is nothing to be worried about except for your 8 year old being freaked, but I was nervous for my son to do it as well as he's pretty small at 4'1" and around d 50 lbs. Still glad we did it. He ended up loving it.
@@GTNover My son is right about 50 inches. So that also makes me feel better. How are the restraints? He kinda likes when they feel tight 😅
@randyobando1836 restraints are great. They go all the way acrossed your chest and were tight on me as a small adult. he doesn't remember It was tight on him.
FYI the Established Titles thing is a scam. Solid video otherwise.
Isn’t the established title thing a scam? I heard that. I hope not
I really don't know why I've never heard of this ride - it looks absolutely amazing
hey taylor. watch out for established titles, they just got exposed as a scam
Best roller coaster EVER! Period!
X2 is the king. Pure unbridled terror. Not for wussies or the only-air-time fixated. Nothing else like it in the US. I've been on over 150 coasters. X2 is my all time favorite. Terrifies me every time. Hells yeah.
Before X2, my first “big” coaster was cannibal, and that could not prepare me for this.
This is 100% on the top of my bucket list, I can't wait for the day I get to ride this!
I adore this ride. I’ve done all the 4Ds and although this is objectively the worst of the three, it’s still absolutely wild.
You've done some traveling!
I made this my 150th credit today and was blown away by it. I rode car 5 on the outside, my brother on the inside, and I loved it, possibly ore than Twisted Colossus. I haven't ridden X2 a second time because the ride had a 3+ hour wait after, but I think I might prefer the outside even if I get an inside seat ride due to the extra out-of-control feeling it seems comes with the outside seats.
Please please do your research before taking sponsorships. Established titles is a scam and has been talked about a lot in the last few weeks
Hey, your sponsor for this video 'established titles' is a scam company I wouldn't want to work with them if I were you. For proof search 'established titles scam' on youtube Scott Shafer has a great video on it.
ElToroRyan just spawns, “ For those of you who are unfamiliar, a block zone is a section of ride that only one train may occupy.”
Only been on it once 14 years ago. Got so lucky that everything was working properly, screen, speakers, and flamethrower! So epic.
Went on it for the first time yesterday and it was more painful than Viper. The 2nd half had me bumping by head and bouncing up and down in my seat. Yes I was securely fastened too.
Never rode it but im in missouri and cant travel to magic mountain but i watch this and tatsu on youtube like weekly. Such amazing rides.
I think Eejanaika is probably a better ride, but I'm not sure if it'd top it for me because of how much the onboard soundtrack adds to the ride, especially the lift. It really hypes you up
This was one of my first bigger coasters that I ever rode and I was like 8 years old at the time, I’ll never forget it lol.
Excellent review. I’m 37….my first job ever in high was six flags the year X opened. Now 20 something years later my 8 year old daughter is absolutely obsessed with it! Since she was 7. Still can’t believe I look over to my right and see her sitting on that beast next to me. Only thing for me……anything past the 4th row is hell. Very rough and unenjoyable unless you love walking around with a messed up neck.
Taylor - The turnaround is good, it gives you a break, time to contemplate what the hell just happened, and what will happen as you dive back down
Yes!!! It needs a single rider line!
Iv heard all over that established titles is a big scam. With their company actually registered in Hong Kong. And that you won't be recognized as lord or lady. Also anyone can buy your plot of land and there is nothing you can do about it. Besides, 1 square foot of land is to small to be registered and it must be registered to have the name lord or lady.
I rode this in mid june going down that drop was by far the most terrifying moment of my entire life
I was here 2004 and I still remember this one 🤩 when I get off I had headache but it was so worth it
Watching this since I will be going to Magic Mountain for my first time soon.
Those of us who rode it when it first came out were treated to the best roller coaster experience of our lives. It was smooth, the music got you pumped, and it didn't matter where you sat. As time went on, this ride got worse and worse to where it does physical damage to you. Now I don't even go to that side of the park because between Viper and X2, neither one is an enjoyable experience any more.
I wouldn't say it's that bad, best piece of advice is stick your legs out as much as you can on the last raven turn. I'll absolutely take the calf pain for one of the best coasters ever made.
Definitely my number 1 bucket list coaster.
My first ride on this was my last ride of the day as I wanted to build my way up to it and that night ride will forever be seared in my memory. I love this ride.
I rode X2 by myself when I was 14 and I had no idea where I was the whole time
Love the review bro! One of my highest bucket list coasters!
Totally agree with you! An inside seat ride on X2 is amazing, but an outside seat ride is terrifying and painful. I can’t believe no one has broken a leg on that thing! 😅
1:42 well it was my first ever big roller coaster and i quite enjoyed it : )
edit: i was on an outside scene
I love this ride. Always my first stop at the park. I rode this with a wig on once, and I was holding on to that bad boy haha
Taylor, the established titles sponsor is a scam that is now coming to light. I recommend you trim the sponsor from the video and cut ties with the company. I recommend you do some research into this, so you know im being honest with you. I’ve watched you for many years and have even met you in person. So I know for a fact you wouldn’t intentionally mislead your fans. Just be more judgmental of who you have sponsor in the future.
I waited 22 years to ride this... Was not disappointed hehe... Had to go front row outside hehe
I want to ride this so bad
It's fantastic. It's true, it is a workout but it is the most intense and amazing ride I've ever been on.
I LOVE THIS COASTER THE DROP IS CRAZY
One of, if not, the best first drops on a coaster ever
it’s funny that you said x2 shouldn’t be someone’s first “big ride” since it was mine 😂 remember riding it in 3rd grade couldn’t wipe the smile off my face been my number 1 since
x2 is by far the best coaster I have ever been on (the lift hill view is spectacular). I have also done it at freight fest at night and that was next level! I need to go back
Rode this back in 2007 or 08. Thought I was gonna love it but I was completely thrown off and disoriented durring and after the ride. I don't remember much about it except that I was being spun and flipped all over the place with no way to prepare or brace myself for what was comming next. My ride photo said it all. I looked completely terrified. The only thing I remember was feeling hot flames practically on my face when the fire shot out at the end...😅😬
It’s a shame we never got more of these especially from S&S in America
We were there in the summer, and my girlfriend took a head bounce on one of the final bumps in the coaster and was messed up for the rest of the day. I had bought the platinum passes so that became quite a bummer to see her mood change. At the end of the day I was like imma ride this one more time and I took a head smack on the same bounce 😩 and noticed the kid in front of me did as well. They need to adjust that section of track for sure. Other than that it would be my favourite ride at the park
Awesome video!
My #2/272. Absolutely insane ride. My favorite seat? Outside, back row. It absolutely brutalizes you. No other roller coaster does that. Also, the best drop I’ve ever experienced… Skyrush follows close behind, but X2 reigns supreme. Only Voyage beats it for me.
Magic Mountain is my home park so I've gotten to experience X2 in plenty of different ways. I feel like Taylor's review covered an important part about this ride which is the amount of variables needed to get a good ride experience on this. First or last row, inside seat, music working, and fire working, that is the best possible ride experience and it is incredible if you get it. However, outside seat, middle row, no music or fire, and this is a completely different ride. The variability is such a big issue for me when comparing this thing to other rides. If you need a checklist to get a good experience and you're not guaranteed to get it, I don't believe it could be seen to be better than a different ride that has a more consistent ride experience.
Honestly I have tried rows that aren't the front or back, they aren't really bad, still had an amazing ride. I still need to try the outside seat, but inside feels butter smooth with the exception of the seat bouncing.
My sister has just gotten back into roller coasters after a long hiatus because X2 scared her that much. This is a girl who before X2 would ride twisted colossus 5 times in a row, so I definitely think little kids should not ride this. (Magic mountain is my home park btw) Great review as always.
love it. My #1 coaster in my limited count of mostly west coast coasters. I like intense coasters and X2 tops that list.
I limit myself to one ride a visit but it's the ride i most look forward to.
Since I’ve been on X2 13 times, I usually am the one to sit on the outside seat. Most people I go with, I save them from the brutality of that final raven turn. My most recent visit was brutal. I love the ride, but it is a whole different kind of crazy that has to be experienced to truly understand.
First visit, had to choose outside seat for my cousin. Second visit during the pandemic, I made the dumbest decision and chose the outside seat. Third visit recently, my brother wanted me to choose outside ugh. Next time I take him, I don't care if I have to pay him $5, I want that inside seat :0
Arrow died as a legend. And they did it in style.
Along with Schwarzkopf.
This is my number one Rollercoaster ride so far! Number two for me is F.L.Y. in Phantasia Land Germany. If you haven't yet, you should come to Germany and try out F.L.Y. I am sure you will not be disappointed! It is lengthy and amazing! Though I am very curious about Eejanaika! If it is that good it might easily jump to my number one spot.
Don’t forget that Alan Schilke designed X2. And this was before he joined RMC.
Taylor, if you and Sarah haven’t realized yet, established titles is a scam. Please stop getting sponsored by them and maybe do more research into your sponsorships.
beat me to it
@@quoteonquoteclub9711 good to know others know about it
Hopefully S&S will bring this model back
Bring it to europe
More like hopefully some park wants to buy one for the massive price lol
@@mikhailjairnisbett441 well energylandia should be able to manage
@@jappie. that could be possible, I wonder if S&S would build a giga 4d if they had a customer.
@@mikhailjairnisbett441 well sixflags would def. not do it with Selim Bassoul as ceo
Inside seat row 7(the very back) only coaster I’ve blacked out on. Yesterday lmao. Didn’t come too until we crested the half loop turned around. Also, ems personnel were ready in the station. I was questioning my need for them on the brake run 😂
This is at the top of my coaster bucket list, one day 🤞🏼
It takes your heart about 12 minutes to settle back down again. I timed it. Its a 15 minute ride in total. This ride as no cons, period.
I’m still so bummed that X2 was closed when I visited the states. I flew over there specifically to visit MM.
The amount of times I rode X2 I never heard the soundtrack on the ride
This was closed during the off season for a few months this year, and it opened with no music and no fire working. WOW. Smh magic mountain.
X is still my favorite ride
Bro established titles is a scam. Do your research before accepting suspicious amounts of money.
I'm from NY and I flew out to LA recently for a West coast music cruise on Halloween...the cruise was leaving on November 3, so the plan was to go to 6FMM on one of the 2 days we had in LA, the other day Knotts...well, there was an unexpected problem!! Starting on November 1, the park was closed on all weekdays!! What a bummer!! I felt like the Griswolds in National Lampoon's Vacation, they drive all the way to LA to Wally World (the actual 6FMM) & John Candy tells me "sorry park's closed!!" in real life!! One day.... And as for Knotts?? Nope, both too expensive & cloudy rain overcast...also didn't get to Sea World San Diego either...it was so chilly!!!
I was so scared to ride this I’ve heard it was super intense and it definitely was but shockingly I wasn’t scared at all it was epic
I love this ride. It's always a pressure to ride for me.
I rode it in 05 when it was just regular X and at night still the most insane coaster I've been on!
I might have been overwhelmed from riding it but it didn't feel nearly as rough as presented by other riders. And.. I rode both inner and outer seats so I had the full experience
This thing is wild. No. 1 drop in the world and that's after riding MF, TTD, El Toro and some more...
Is X2 at SF Magic Mountain worth flying all the way from Tennessee to L.A. to experience? I've already been to L.A. (but not Magic Mountain) so there's nothing else I really wanna do there.
I love it...first time I waited 3 hours and I didn't mind one bit. I do not care how long the wait is I will not leave the park without riding it
Love my favorite coaster from my home park❤ even though it does physically destroy me after lol
Oh, I guess that explains why I hated the ride but my sister loved it
In terms of relative roughness, my ride on El Toro over the summer beat me up a lot more than X2 ever did.
I remember riding this when I was 7 lol
I could not fit in the restraint at all and they had to push it down rly far
I actually knew a 6 year old (very tall for her age) that rode this as her first roller coaster. Insanity!
X2 was my first coaster too! I was 4 years old when I rode, so I guess I was an absolute giant for my age lmao.
It's my favorite ride by a long shot now, but it was traumatizing at the time.
X2 is probably the ride at SFMM most worth marathoning for me, but I guess it helps that I'm relatively light, so nothing hurts. Idk about being exhausted after riding because I've not felt that yet.
Hello coster studios friends happy holidays to you guys. Wow dude that ride looks awesome but looks very very scary like what the heck. You guys are awesome stay safe and have fun and have a good day or night where ever you are.
X2 inside seat is in my top 5
X2 outside seat I'm more focused on not getting a concussion than I am on enjoying the ride
Originally this ride was named X and was renamed X2 in 2008 after new trains were built .The original was a bit worse in terms of intensity. The first time I rode this thing back in 04 I watched peoole exiting the ride. Many of them looked as though they had just ridden in a fighter jet during a dogfight . The "dead spot” is probably the only reason that most people dont actually get down and kiss the ground upon exiting the ride.
