So glad you upgraded your hammy cage!! I would recommend more bedding at least 8 inch, an 8 inch wheel so they don’t bend their back, more enrichment and more natural clutter! Also your stunning🤩🤩
Great start!! :) I’d suggest really scattering the seed mix all over the house, I sprinkle it all around, rather than make little piles, I don’t even have a food bowl in my enclosure anymore, I’ll put one in if I give a little baby food or something like that but otherwise no food bowls lol. The foraging for the food is super beneficial to them :) Also personally I’d ditch the water bottle for water bowl :) it’s more natural drinking position and easier to clean. I also wouldn’t do pellets personally I just do seed mix, I like to use bunny nature and then I add an extra 30 grams of meal worms for more protein and my guys nice and happy and healthy. He gets 1-2 meal worms daily. If he gets another protein source I’ll give him just 1 meal worms but normally 2 a day lol. And dwarfs are from dessert so def add more sand in the tank :) Cute baby hamster and cute cage set up!! Good luck have fun with your new pet! :) ❤
You are doing great. I have a suggestion when your able to maybe upgrade her wheel. I know hamsters are small animals and many think there's no reason why they need large spaces or lots of bedding or enrichment, but it's crucial for their well being and it keeps their little lives enriched. Many hamsters enjoy different types of sprays, so maybe that's an idea.
@owl.mp4 no some people can buy big cages but not everyone is able to by humongous cages is what I’m saying. But of course if u can’t buy the right sized cage then don’t get a hamster
Her new cage looks great. The only thing I would change is the wheel, the wheel you have for her is actually too small. The size she needs is a 9 or 10in wheel.
Yes! I would like to get her a new wheel, but her back isn’t bending at all and is completely straight! So it isn’t harming her in anyway, thankfully! Thanks for the suggestion! ❤❤
Actually with the dwarf hamster, and it appears yours is a small dwarf, her back does not seem to bend at all in that wheel. I think you are doing very well.
Yes! I have 6 inches of bedding in the video, which is the minimum, but since then I have added more! And her back isn’t bending while on the wheel, it is straight. So it’s not harming her! But I would like to get her a nicer wheel at some point! I actually do have a lid you just can’t really tell on the video. Thank you for commenting! ❤❤
You are doing wonderful! That cage is such a big cage for such a tiny dwarf hamster!! The bedding looks nice for digging tunnels and so many hides for safety. Well done! She sure is a cute one!!
Hi! Hamster owner here, also semi-new. For your hamster, you want to have at least 800sqin of room. This cage is their entire world! Usually 40 gallon tanks have about 600 sqin of space, I’ve had one myself! While it’s not bad, I would reccomend a bin cage! These are often cheaper, and provide plenty of room if you find the right one. I also noticed you may have a few inches of bedding at most- Hamsters need roughly 7-10 inches of bedding, or half the cage’s height. Hamsters love to burrow! The wheel, as other people have said, also needs to be around 10 inches or more, otherwise their backs will curve and they can have issues later on. With the bendable bridge you have, moss needs to be placed and glued inside the cracks, otherwise their tiny body parts can get stuck inside! If I recall correctly, depending on the dwarf hamster you have, 1/3 of their cage needs to be a sand bath. Also, I strongly reccomend sprays (which can be found on esty), and please also ensure your hamster’s food is nutritional. A lot of hamster foods sold in stores do not meet their needs. If you need any help, please feel free to contact me! I hope your hamster is doing well, and I’m so happy you upgraded their cage! If you need any of my contacts, let me know and I’ll send them in the comments! Best wishes
Also, edible huts are often not good for hamsters! Hay such as Timothy Hay is not needed in their diet, and often doesn’t provide any nutritional value! Sorry i keep adding more.
@@fitzguineavision not hating btw! but just lyk incase you end up buying a detolf it is not suitable for any hamster species apart from robos since the cage it’s not wide enough on the sides, but since robo hamsters are really smaller they don’t notice it. I recommend the ikea Plastsa diy cage 🤍 (also since the detolf isn’t very tall for bedding so you would need a raised lid for it which would make the Plastsa cheaper to afford)
I don’t know how many inches that wheel is you have for sweetie but for dwarf hamsters you should have a 8 inch to 9 inch wheel for them so they’re back is completely fat also you are doing an amazing job love how much bedding you put in the 40 gallon tank is awesome I have a short haired Syrian hamster and she’s in a 40 gallon tank and I love your sand bath😊😊😊 I also thought it was really funny that the topper that you have for your tank is the same top of that I use just I would suggest getting some clamps to put on the top that clamp onto the topper and hook around to the black part of the tank it just makes it safer for them or you could put a stack of books on top of the tank
That’s so cool we have the same setup! I am hoping to get a new wheel at some point, I am saving up for the nightangel one. I had those clamps for my last cage! Thanks for commenting! ❤️
So cute! My hamster loves mealworms in his food mix, its a good source of protein for them!
I like it! You’ve done a good jpn! :)

I really recommend Victoria Rachel she knows what she’s doing s lot and I think u could benefit from her videos!
Yayy! So nice seeing them happier, isn’t it! 😊 I had to upgrade the first cage I had as well as it was too small
Maybe add more sand in the sand bath to help her get in and out easier! It’s soo cute! I love her cage!
Thank you! Since this video I added more sand! Thanks for commenting! :)
@ of course!
People saying this is a “great start” that’s a great end! That’s the perfect cage for a hamster, heaven practically🤣🤣
Thank you!! That’s what I’ve been thinking! Honestly really needed to hear that! 😅🥰❤️
Ikr not everyone is able to buy a 5ft long cage with 20 inches of bedding in it 😂😅
@@NatalieChicken if you can't buy the cage don't buy the hamster. period.

I actually would change the wheel like bigger and a little more space❤
I like the wooden house windmill it's a nice big cage
Thank you! I thought the windmill was so cute! Thanks for the nice comment! ❤❤
You need more subscribers your videos are amazing you should be at 1M

I had a hamster as a kid. ❤️
Good Update. In the future, you should focus on more bedding, a lit to provide escaping, a bigger wheel and a multichamber hideout. :-)

Robo Dwarf!
Loll I have the same big hideee😂❤
Haha, that’s awesome! 😂❤

I know I’m quite late, but if you still have that wheel I would suggest buying a trixe wheel! There the most cheap wheel and quite big
Thank you for the suggestion & for commenting! I have an 11 inch wheel now! :)
@ That’s amazing!
YAYYY MORNING I WILL GET A HAMSTER!!! (i searched what is good for hamster and not)
That’s so exciting! ❤
You are doing wonderful! That cage is such a big cage for such a tiny dwarf hamster!! The bedding looks nice for digging tunnels and so many hides for safety. Well done! She sure is a cute one!!
It’s not a big cage, hamster size doesn’t matter

@@-flowerblossom-820 IKEA detolph are good solutions too. I've seen many use those

There’s many UA-cam videos aswell on tutorials on how to make the platsa cage
Lots of room for improvement
I would add more bedding if I were you.. but it’s youre decision
I’ve actually added more bedding since this video! Thanks for the tip! ❤️❤️

Yeah np I’m sooooo happy to hear that you are saving up for a Night Angel wheel!!😁😁
40 gallons isn’t huge…
I think it's a good start but I think u should buy more chew toys!
That hide isn’t safe because of the material (the house)
Thank you! I actually realized that before you wrote this, and took it out! :)
Please don’t use that hamster food because it doesn’t have enough fat and it is boring. I recommend Bunny Nature and Niteangel.
I think it’s fine
@@BreeLovesHorses they shouldn’t have pellets in their diet.
