You are doing great. I have a suggestion when your able to maybe upgrade her wheel. I know hamsters are small animals and many think there's no reason why they need large spaces or lots of bedding or enrichment, but it's crucial for their well being and it keeps their little lives enriched. Many hamsters enjoy different types of sprays, so maybe that's an idea.

Please don’t use that hamster food because it doesn’t have enough fat and it is boring. I recommend Bunny Nature and Niteangel.

Hi! Hamster owner here, also semi-new. For your hamster, you want to have at least 800sqin of room. This cage is their entire world! Usually 40 gallon tanks have about 600 sqin of space, I’ve had one myself! While it’s not bad, I would reccomend a bin cage! These are often cheaper, and provide plenty of room if you find the right one. I also noticed you may have a few inches of bedding at most- Hamsters need roughly 7-10 inches of bedding, or half the cage’s height. Hamsters love to burrow! The wheel, as other people have said, also needs to be around 10 inches or more, otherwise their backs will curve and they can have issues later on. With the bendable bridge you have, moss needs to be placed and glued inside the cracks, otherwise their tiny body parts can get stuck inside! If I recall correctly, depending on the dwarf hamster you have, 1/3 of their cage needs to be a sand bath. Also, I strongly reccomend sprays (which can be found on esty), and please also ensure your hamster’s food is nutritional. A lot of hamster foods sold in stores do not meet their needs. I don’t know how many inches that wheel is you have for sweetie but for dwarf hamsters you should have a 8 inch to 9 inch wheel for them so they’re back is completely fat also you are doing an amazing job love how much bedding you put in the 40 gallon tank is awesome I have a short haired Syrian hamster and she’s in a 40 gallon tank and I love your sand bath😊😊😊 I also thought it was really funny that the topper that you have for your tank is the same top of that I use just I would suggest getting some clamps to put on the top that clamp onto the topper and hook around to the black part of the tank it just makes it safer for them or you could put a stack of books on top of the tank

You are doing wonderful! That cage is such a big cage for such a tiny dwarf hamster!! The bedding looks nice for digging tunnels and so many hides for safety. Well done! She sure is a cute one!!

Good Update. In the future, you should focus on more bedding, a lit to provide escaping, a bigger wheel and a multichamber hideout. :-)

Her new cage looks great. The only thing I would change is the wheel, the wheel you have for her is actually too small. The size she needs is a 9 or 10in wheel.
