He is so wonderful, thank you for adopting him and giving him the life he deserves! As a Romanian, l am so touched and happy when l see people adopting abroad. Here we sadly have way too many strays and authorities do absolutely nothing to stop this issue. My parents have a shelter also (about 200 dogs) and all the dogs are adopted in Netherlands, Germany... very few here. If you have seen any of our other vlogs then you would know that he has his place on the sofa now and is given so much love and cuddles. We had moment with him where he would put a paw up, then his full body and then refuse to back down - which when you don’t know their background can be very intimidating. Therefore this was not something we wanted to encourage, Because we were quite strict to begin with it means now he is so much better with boundaries and instruction, and gets to enjoy all the love we can give. Now we know him so much better too we can tell when it’s just a paw for more tickles or wanted treats or it’s something else. Plus he knows us better too x

Thank you so much for making this video and part 12 which I have watched. I can absolutely see why you fell in love with Max because he is absolutely adorable. My rescue from Romania is coming soon leaving on the 8th of October. I found lots of things helpful in your video and was very moved by Max and his wariness of his new surroundings. I was so nervous for you when it was past midnight and his arrival was imminent. and my heart just sank when he tried so hard to stay awake for fear of what might happened to him if he stopped guarding himself. I hope Max has gone from strength to strength and I'm so pleased he has such great parents here in the UK. ❤️🐾🐾🐾❤️
Gillian Morrison mines arrives 4/5 th from Romania. Begins journey on the happy bus on the 2nd and I think this is how my one will be too so sad to see how scared he was but it’s really real this video
Awe this is so amazing to read, thank you . This is exactly why I wanted to document something of his journey. Although it did get very tough we have made so much progress with him in the last few months, as you will see in other vlogs - every hard moment was worth it. We still have a way to go with his seperation anxiety and he's still nervous in certain situations but you can't expect too much from them and he has come so far. It really is about giving them time... I hated every-time someone said that to us ' he just needs time' or ' give it time ' but they really do. Part 3 ( which is day 2-4 ) is coming soon...I honestly got to the point where we didn't think we could keep him or cope but looking back I am so glad we pushed through and kept going. If you ever need someone to talk to or have a question do not hesitate to get in touch. Chloe x
Thank you Chloe. I really do know how challenging it can be. I've indirect experience of another adoption. When trust is won, it's truly magic. Good on you for not giving up on max. Goodness, my dog Maisie had me in tears some days, I even had panic attacks when I thought I really got close to the I can't cope with her, and she was born in Fife! But she's awesome. Benji leaves Romania tomorrow. I can't wait for my boy ❤️ thank you for being open to questions. Best wishes to you, Nathan and of course, Max ❤️
He’s still not a snuggler now he just likes to give you his paw. As we had only had a few hours with him by this point we didn’t know this or what his behaviours were. As you’re told not to let them onto sofas / beds in the first instance due to guarding issues (which are hard to undo) we needed to make sure he knew his boundaries. This method worked for us and has since meant we know him now and is allowed on sofa / bed he even has his own chair in the living room now x
Awe that’s great. The process seems to take so long and then suddenly they are here. They asked me things like, what I would do in certain situations - like with any aggressive behaviour or if they showed signs of guarding. When I would feed them, how long would they be left for if I went to work, whether I had dogs before, who would look after him if we went away. If I didn’t know the answer to the situation ones I just said I would research the best course of action for that situation. They then just looked around the house via FaceTime. X
My little girl arrives on the 14th November and I'm trying to be as prepared as I can for her arrival, your video was so helpful. Which rescue did you use? And how is Max settling?
awwww that poor baby is a bit confused and scared. He dont really know what's going on just yet. He just knows things are different than he has ever seen. Im sure he's doing great by now though. Has he learned to speak English yet? 🙂
During the time that we adopted Max the rescues in the UK were not allowing applicants but thank you for your comment. We have also adopted from many UK rescues over years too x
Thank you. He is doing really well 😊 he has come so far, so much quicker than we thought he would. The turning point was definitely getting him out for walks. He is still nervous of new men and new noises but thats totally understandable. He also doesn't like to be left on his own but lockdown hasn't helped with that. Thanks for your comment. Chloe x
We have actually had Max a year today and he’s over come so much, it’s taken a lot of hard work. If you watch our most recently video he’s just been on his first camping trip. It took us over a month to get him outside on a lead and then that was just walking to the end of the road with out him getting too overwhelmed by all the new noises and things, so I think we were a long way off a long walk back then. But he loves them now. Thank you for your comment. Xx
Greetings from Florida 🏄♀️ God Bless You‼️❤️‼️ Please try to give Max 🐕 raw foods/ organ meats/ raw eggs/ also pulverize the egg 🥚 shells and add it to his food
Did Max ever use or get used to his crate or did you just give up with it?? And how long was it before he stopped peeing indoors?? It must be difficult because you want to start potty training from day one, but if they’re too scared to even come near you at first, then you don’t have much say in the matter.
We gave up as he didn’t see it as his safe place. He just ended up using a comfy bed on the floor and has now been promoted to the bedroom on weekends but still sleeps downstairs absolutely fine during the week. It took a few weeks to get him outside but once he was out he has only had one accident inside since then and I think that was more our fault for not letting him out when he needed rather than him just peeing indoors. We are unsure why but he just took to knowing he should go outdoors straight away, despite going indoors for weeks. As you can imagine we were so pleased xx
He arrived with a very tight harness on. That he had obviously been in whilst in Romania. It was way too small for him. I didn’t record every moment unfortunately. We were only using my phone to capture what we could. We just kept feeding him treats through the collar and eventually he would let me pop it on and take off the old harness.
I think you’ll find that changed in 2011. He has a Pet Passport and all necessary vaccinations confirmed in his travel documents. They have to wait 21 days from certain vacations until they can travel to the UK.
@@adventureswiththepolleys Ahhh, I stand corrected, ok. :) He's a handsome boy and as I type this I'm watching another of your Max videos. He seems to have settled in aye ok. Nice one. :) He'll be happy in his new forever home, I'm sure. There's a lot of love there for him, that's clear. 👍
Chloe Pedlow I think it would be interesting to hear your review of the organization. There are so many rescue organizations out there that it sometimes feels very difficult to sort out the really good ones 🙈
Haha, don't worry he's made his way up there now. We were very cautious to begin with because they can start to guard areas like sofas and beds. He now has his end of the sofa he can come on during the day and two other beds in the house haha 😄 . Chloe x
We did not ‘order’ a dog we adopted one. If you read other comments that are similar to this then you would understand the reasoning behind not letting him on the sofa initially. When you receive a dog , where you know none of it it’s previous history or behaviour, you have no idea how it will react or whether it will guard areas (like beds, sofas etc) and become protective over its space. When we first got Max he would put his front feet on the sofa and raise up to our faces and you couldn’t push him back don’t without him resisting, when you don’t know the dog this can be quite intimidating. If you’ve seen more recent videos, you would know that he now is regularly on sofas and bed , and even has his own chair! Rescuing a dog , let alone a Romanian rescue is a long journey and no step should be rushed into. Please do not judge anyone before you have all the facts. It can be very upsetting to those that are actually trying to do good in this very cruel world. We are by no means perfect but who is? Thank you for your comment.
I have adopted also a small dog from romania. I have a golden retriever also. My golden is allowed on the couch. My rescue not. She hasnt earned that privilige yet. You have to set some boundaries in the beginning. Its not mean but better for the dog.

Thank you for your comment. We adopted Max back in June while others chose to buy lockdown puppies. It may have been a different situation if we were looking at UK charities to adopt now, but as previously posted on other comments we did try UK charities and unfortunately it’s not always that simple and we made the decision on our own circumstances. We also continue to support lots of UK based charities and others abroad. We would have not made our decision on where to adopt from because of the cheaper cost either. Please do not judge us or others from watching one or a few You Tube videos. Chloe x

I am not sure I would even call it laughing, , a sympathetic chuckle at worst, as it made me jump a little too and I do say 'awe, bless him '. We clearly care a lot about Max and to pick this one thing from this video, really? I'm sorry you felt that I were 'laughing at him'.

But she immediately came to me and at home she decided that she wanted to sleep in my bed.The first days it was strange for her to walk on the leash and of course she made the pooh inside the house. But after some days all was perfect.
Love her so much.
Such a nice puppy .
@@marzipazi7498 awww all the best. Have a lovely happy love-filled life with your beautiful Romster angel ❤️🐾🐾🐾❤️

@@marzipazi7498 hope it's all going well. Let us know ❤️
Thank you for this. My Romanian pupp is coming today on the doggy bus. Xx
Oh exciting. Wishing you lots of love and happiness for the journey ahead x
He wants to get up and snuggle with you 😒 great video though, gives us newbies an insight as to what to expect
I've just got a dog from Turkish Rescue!
These videos have been so interesting! We’re on the final stage of adoption for our Romanian pup... the home check! What questions did they ask you?
Awe that’s great. The process seems to take so long and then suddenly they are here. They asked me things like, what I would do in certain situations - like with any aggressive behaviour or if they showed signs of guarding. When I would feed them, how long would they be left for if I went to work, whether I had dogs before, who would look after him if we went away. If I didn’t know the answer to the situation ones I just said I would research the best course of action for that situation. They then just looked around the house via FaceTime. X
Lucky dog! I bet you chaps spoil him rotten!
Absolutely! My mum is worse though haha! Always a treat at her house for him.
There are enough homegrown rescue dogs in the UK without those from other countries!
During the time that we adopted Max the rescues in the UK were not allowing applicants but thank you for your comment. We have also adopted from many UK rescues over years too x
He should of come with his blanket or toys or anything that he would find a comfort.
I don't think he would have had anything. He doesnt play with any toys even now. He does have his own blanket now though 🥰
❤
beautiful dog. I would import a few to Norway, a small gang would do, but Norway forbids it.
Lovely dog! How’s he getting on now?
Chloe x
Hi Chloe. Where did you adopt from, I mean what organization? I am also about to adopt a dog from Rumania :-) Very glad that I found your video!
Hello, we adopted from Pawprints 2 Freedom but we would necessarily recommend using them as we had a few issues along the way x
Take him outside for a long walk and he will bond with you. Also to see his neighborhood
Thank you for your comment. Chloe x
Which charity did you use?
Ok, when did the collar go on? The vid skipped that bit?
He arrived with a very tight harness on. That he had obviously been in whilst in Romania. It was way too small for him.
I didn’t record every moment unfortunately. We were only using my phone to capture what we could.
We just kept feeding him treats through the collar and eventually he would let me pop it on and take off the old harness.
Hows he doing now??
What organization did you adopt your dog from?
Hello, we went through Pawprints 2 Freedom although I would not necessarily recommend them as we had some issues along the way.
Hi, what Breed is Max.
Hi, he is a mixed breed so we arent really sure but we think he definitely has some lurcher in him. They are such a mix from Romania.
Again, collar off and that bit was skipped. Why?
I’m not sure I fully understand your question. Apologies. These were just clips of what we managed to capture of Max’s first few days.
So, let's get this straight, he came from Romania in a van directly and didn't go through mandatory UK 6 months animal quarantine?
I think you’ll find that changed in 2011. He has a Pet Passport and all necessary vaccinations confirmed in his travel documents. They have to wait 21 days from certain vacations until they can travel to the UK.
@@adventureswiththepolleys Ahhh, I stand corrected, ok. :) He's a handsome boy and as I type this I'm watching another of your Max videos. He seems to have settled in aye ok. Nice one. :) He'll be happy in his new forever home, I'm sure. There's a lot of love there for him, that's clear. 👍
Whats the name of the rescue you worked with?
Hello, it was pawprints 2 freedom but we did have a few issues with them x
Chloe Pedlow thanks for the info 😊
No problem. Any questions don't hesitate to ask.... I will do a follow up video at some point 🙈
Chloe Pedlow I think it would be interesting to hear your review of the organization. There are so many rescue organizations out there that it sometimes feels very difficult to sort out the really good ones 🙈
how old is Max?
He is 3 and a half x
Not allowed on the couch😩
Haha, don't worry he's made his way up there now. We were very cautious to begin with because they can start to guard areas like sofas and beds. He now has his end of the sofa he can come on during the day and two other beds in the house haha 😄 . Chloe x
I don’t get it…. U order a dog then seem so afraid of him and won’t let him on couch!!! Oh joy 🥲
Why not rescue a dog in Britain ?
Hello, yes this is a question we have been asked before. We certainly tried the UK charities first but unfortunately it isn't always that simple.
Below is a link to a good article to explain why...
wunderdogmagazine.com/news/my-response-to-the-guardians-article-they-look-cute-but-should-we-rescue-romanias-street-dogs/
Everyone can be in a different situation and have their own reasons for their choices.
Thanks for you comment.
@@adventureswiththepolleys yes it is they are desperate for owners and its less hassle than getting a dog from abroad
I don't understand . Dogs need homes in Britain too. Why don't you adopt in Britain and donate the travel costs to Romanian rescues. This would save 2 dogs .
Hello,
Yes this is a question we have been asked before. We certainly tried, at the time, and contacted UK charities first but unfortunately it isn't always that simple.
Below is a link to a good article to explain why...
wunderdogmagazine.com/news/my-response-to-the-guardians-article-they-look-cute-but-should-we-rescue-romanias-street-dogs/
Everyone can be in a different situation and have their own reasons for their choices. These videos only show a glimpse of our situation and I would never judge anyone based on a UA-cam video.
We do also support many animal charities, not just with dogs, in the UK and abroad too.
Thanks for your comment, Chloe x
What about the increasing number of animals being dumped due to lockdown in the U.K. ? Charity begins at home...cheaper too...
Chloe x
Why would you laugh at him when he got scared?
I clearly was not laughing at him to be mean, being mean to him is not really the point of this video. I am not sure I would even call it laughing, , a sympathetic chuckle at worst, as it made me jump a little too and I do say 'awe, bless him '. We clearly care a lot about Max and to pick this one thing from this video, really? I'm sorry you felt that I were 'laughing at him'.
you can clearly see she a kind loving patient person with him i farted the other and it scared my cat who fell off the bed - report me to the RSPCA
