Hi Janey, I just want to have a bit of a moan at you for not getting a dog from one of the many dog pounds/rescue centres etc in this country. I don't understand why anyone would choose to save a dog from abroad when there are so many dogs who need a loving home in this country. I equate it to importing migrants when we have so many homeless people living on the streets of the UK who need help. That being said, I am a dog person and I thing he is absolutely lovely. Such a beautiful looking dog and a lovely temperament. He looks so good with Johnny!! I hope he fits in with your cat and farm animals and you can keep him. It would be so good for you and even better for him!! :-)
Hey Paul, you’re not the first, and a few months ago I may have even agreed with you. However, I applied to a LOT of local shelters, and for each dog that would be suitable for us (older, cat friendly, non aggressive), in each case the shelters had 40+ applications for those dogs. And even though I work from home and live on a farm, I wasn’t even passed by many of them because I don’t have a 6 foot high secure garden (even though I’ve got a whole farm!) 🤷♀️
Would it have been better to wait months, or years for them to approve us for a UK dog? As I said in the video, I would much rather have taken on a local dog in need. But when I saw Sunny and started learning about the horrors these Romanian dogs go through, it was a no brainer to offer him our home 🥹 Ultimately, a dog in need is a dog in need.
Lots of rescues from this country wont let you rehome if you work or have children. Therefore only option is to either buy a puppy from a breeder which is buying into the breeding industry or rescuing one from abroad that could be killed.
Just what business is it of yours to tell other people what they should do? Unbelievable

What a handsome boy, and witha lovely sweet nature too! We also have a Romanian dog - a german shepherd/rottweiler cross and she's been the most perfect companion since we got her 7 years ago. I'd encourage anyone to thnk seriously about adopting a Romanian dog as a pet - they'll reward you with so much love. Sunny has a wonderful home with you and I look forward to following his adventures :)

Oh he is beautiful I can totally see why he’s going to fit in so well. I know how important it is to get a low prey drive, cat and livestock friendly dog, especially for where you live etc. Dogs are special ‘people’ no matter what country they find themselves, they all deserve love ❤❤❤❤

Aweee bless you he is beautifull i adopted a street dog from Spain last year it was a challenge as you had never lived in a house so we are now in a routine . Rescues are so loving they are so happy to be rescued.i love her so much she was found in a kill shelter and the lady from the rescue shelter took her and they got her an eye op as a big dog had attacked her. Good on you a great life for him nowxx

OMG he is just adorable. He holds his paw like my boy, a sign of a bit of pointer in him and definitely a hunting dog by the looks of it. His tail looks very german shepherd like. All beautiful dogs. I do know those vans have to stop every so many hours to walk the dogs. If this happens I don't know and can only speak of Spanish rescue dogs which is what my Toby was. I can't see much work getting done for a few weeks!!! Enjoy this time getting to know him and him you but I think Johnny has a shadow! Beautiful!

Sunny looks like a lovely dog. Poor boy was so scared at first.
Absolutely terrified 😔 But each day he gets a bit braver and feels a bit safer. Actually, Jonny’s started calling him Sunny the Brave 🥹
I spoke with a trainer yesterday and she said we won’t meet the ‘real’ Sunny for weeks yet.
Oh he seems very lovely, keeping fingers crossed that it works out well.

Sunny looks lovely Jane, looks like he’ll need a lot of time and love to adjust to his new home. Everything is to be scared of. He’ll come round. You’ll have to get a DNA test done like we did with Luna and see what’s inside there xx

I recently lost my Romanian rescue dog after 10 years, she was such a big personality my house feels empty even though I have another dog, right up to the end she was so playful and noisy I miss her so much. They are so cruel in those kill shelters beating the dogs to death with shovels or injecting them with paint, well done for rescuing Sunny I hope you have many years of joy with him.
Oh JH, I’m so sorry for your loss 😔 It’s one of the hardest things to go through, but doesn’t stop any of us diving in with a new animal to love. (PS I didn’t know about the paint 🤬)

I really think we have! Apparently we won’t see his true personality for several more weeks, or even months, as he decompresses from everything he’s been through. But underneath he’s a kind, intelligent soul so I think we’re going to be good 🤞☺️

Sunny has certainly landed on his paws ❤ we're adopting a Romanian dog too after spending ages trying to find a suitable uk rescue dog as a companion to our Jack Russell cross, dog savvy cat and 3 guinea pigs. (All rescue). I look forward to following Sunny's adventures ❤

We have a Rommie rescue from a local UK charity. Lana is most likely a CoJack (corgi jack russell cross) andhas helped us so much whilst my wife has wbeen recovring from cancer. Again we struggled to find a UK rescue and she was already here. P.S. just decovered you and orderred 4 cable tidies. I build custom PC/Mac keyboards and they will be perfect for their cables

@@hedgecomber we have had Zak 3 weeks now, he was scared of his own shadow when he arrived 😥 but walks are less difficult and he's been an angel in the house..we looked at a lot of english rescues far and wide, found them full of greyhounds and bullies or if we did find a fit for us it stated to be only dog (we have a little Jack russell)..I went down the rabbit hole of kill shelters, so whenever I get a negative comment regarding Zak I point them to the terrible things i saw online..and also I'm very crafty myself and love your stuff..linda..x

Oh BG, this is only the tip of the iceberg. It’s a heartbreaking situation over there that I had no idea idea about until very recently 😔

Ah my Floki arrived on the 28th, very fearful, growling every time we moved. Couldn't get near him to even remove the slip lead off him. Once he began to trust us he's come forward in leaps and bounds. Biggest snuggle bug ever now. He has one ear and a huge scar from one side of his head to the other. These dogs have been to hell and bk literally but the capacity for forgiveness and love they have is unbelievable. He is well worth the tears and anxiety he gave us 💜
Omg this little lad is so lucky to have found you. Watching this actually brought tears to my eyes because of his vulnerability when he arrived and being scared of many things was just like our little girl. I really hope we meet you sometime on the coastal path 🐾🐾🐾 🥾 when we are back travelling down your way. Xx
Oh that’d be so lovely Tracey! I really really hope we can get him to a place of feeling comfortable around other people and dogs and traffic and all the things. I am truly hopeful looking at how open and friendly he is, but don’t want to tempt fate!
