@@PrimeVsPrime and plus Grindor is definitely my favorite Decepticon to do an epic transformation for the epic forest battle even the 2007 movie that Sam meets Optimus Prime in person seeing Optimus Prime transform in front of Sam and Mikaela that scene brings the good old 2007 hype back to me
The movies were bombas to watch as a kid making noises

It’s odd to see Ravage packed in with Grindor. I think the paint could’ve been done better for Ravage, but it’s nice to see them continuing to flesh out the rosters for the films. Grindor isn’t too bad a figure, and he completes the lineup to recreate one of the greatest scenes I ever saw as a kid in the theater. Maybe there’ll be an upgrade kit or something where Prime can get his hooks and there could be an option to give Grindor a “splitting” headache, eh?

There actually is a upgrade kit for Prime's hooks, it comes with an axe and a ion blaster. I found it on eBay
The fact that Grindor’s description on the box is that fighting prime turned out to be a headache cuz prime split his head in half is golden
Like his one defining scene was his headsplitting so that’s what they put on the box

@@ivancardenas5694 I don't really recommend hanging Blackout in the air with some type of rope or string because those may snap overtime. Why not find something that can be used as a flight stand instead?
@@AfterthymeGaming I used a fishing line before to display the old movie blackout and Starscream. But you’re right. This time around I’d like to get one of those stands since I will be buying those cool IKEA glass displays…

I believe the "rust" detailing is actually meant to be dirt and earth on Grindor, as in the forest fight they were ripping out trees and kicking up dirt. And a fun fact, Grindor's vehicle mode, the CH-53 has 7 rotor blades but his CG model, and as a result the toy, only have 6 due to just being Blackout.
Or it could be bcz this IS blackout who've been affected by the shard and was reborn by using other scraps of the decepticons who died
And due to the fact he is reborn he went with a new name

As someone who unfortunately passed on Blackout, I definitely will get this guy! And it wasn’t adult PVP that made me want this figure, it was PVP being a kid.

Beautiful figure, beautiful engineering. I have no idea how the presenter can convert Grindor so quickly. With the instructions, it took me around 45 minutes or so, of course being careful not to break anything, although the construction is strong enough where you don’t really have to worry. I couldn’t have wasted more time trying to figure out where to rotate the legs on my own to close the tail section, that was probably the worst part. This is actually why I came looking for the video. Also the engine cover on the roof doesn’t exactly hold together as well as I had hoped.
I can’t wait to get Grindor. I missed out on Blackout so there’s no chance I’m missing out on Grindor. Can’t wait for the release! He looks so good!! 🤩

I had SS Blackout.. looked impressive in bot and helicopter mode.. until the rotor hub connections for the blades started getting bad stress marks after just two days and two transformations.. I had to return it for a replacement, bit had to settle for a refund as the other they had on shelf had sold
For those complaining about the height difference, if he hasnt offered this option in the video (only 6:29 mins in) compress both blackout and grindors legs fully. Then extend blackouts by 1 or 2 clicks, depending on preference, then extend grindors 3-4 clicks. When side by side, the height difference will be noticable
I believe the main difference between Blackout and Grindor is, that Grindor is supposed to be taller. But I guess if you extend Grindors legs more than Blackouts you could make that work.

I thought Grindor was meant to be slightly olive green?
Grindor's roughly twice as tall as Optimus (28 ft) so he's like 50 or so ft compared to Blackout's 33.
@@ltranc eh people say he's that tall but a side by side with Optimus he doesn't look as tall as you're claiming.
@@patrickb.5820 Probably because I'm considering the engine block and rotor backpack he has which sits higher than his head, but yeah without it he's like low 40s or high 30s feet tall, which is still considerably taller than Blackout. Also I'm rewatching the forest battle and it still looks like Prime still only comes up to about Grindor's waist/abdomen.
This looks better then blackout can’t wait to get it!

I missed out on Blackout so I'm definitely going in for this guy.
This is an awesome figure, I missed out on the original blackout release and now anytime I try to find him he’s like $184.37 and because grindor is new he’ll be the default leader class price(hopefully). So this will be my chance to get a version of him.

I like Grindor more because I liked playing as him and Long Haul and Sideways in ROTF when it comes to the Decepticons
Kind of disappointed he isn’t bigger. In the movie he is so it really messes with their accurate robot scale philosophy.
I think it’s because they didn’t want to add in commander class into SS
Scavenger already broke that philosophy too, hell the Constructicons are pretty wonky when scaling with each other. Long Haul’s meant to be the tallest non-Scavenger constructicon, 7 feet taller than Rampage, but SS Long Haul is shorter than SS Rampage.
@@ltranc, I don’t mind with the constructions. Hasbro couldn’t afford to make most of them leaders nor could they make the scale work for devastator a limbs.
They broke that rule only seven figures in with Grimlock.

This guy is perfect, Grindor was always my favorite decepticon and they didn’t just make a figure of him they improved upon the blackout design to make Grindor even better and now the forest battle can be complete.
My only complaint is the clunky weapon with the tail propeller I think they could’ve made that better,
Also I think it’s funny how his box description is just how he died
“We never got a good look at the character”. Well we did get a close up on his face right before Prime split it in two. Lol
And I guess the body shot of his corpse counts too.

I no longer have my Blackout, so this will be a welcome replacement. The hands really elevate the whole mold, your high praises of which I wholeheartedly agree with.
Now if only I can find a place in this country which carries more Transformers beyond the handful of shelf-warming Cyberverse and Kingdom figures that they always have…
I will definitely be picking this up, I missed out on a lot of figures when the studio series line first started so I'm glad to get another chance at picking this figure up

Grindor’s vehicle mode is supposed to be the CH-53E Stallion instead of BlackOut’s MH-53 Pavelow. Still a cool helicopter and figure tho.

Considering what you said about them possibly reissuing Blackout later down the line with the upgraded hands reminded me that Takara has been doing some rereleases of Figures with a “Premium Finish” basically just meaning any details that were unpainted are now painted, and such other things like that. Which hopefully means they could do one of Blackout in the near future with the new hands and an improved paint job. It’d be great since I do want to get Blackout, but having the muppet hands is keeping me from it as the DNA hands are stuck bundled with Bumblebee’s and Sentinel’s attachments as well as the whole pack being 40$ plus 8$ shipping.
Buying for the hands. Have the other guy both are great. Happy with the new paint

A fellow Bayformers lover! Absolutely love the designs from TF 1-3 and wished they stuck with it. For sure very nostalgic.
I know this might be a year later but I made a custom ravage where I got two grindors that were on sale for only $30 dollars for both so I got one of the ravages cut his head off, I then drilled a hole and make a custom spinal cord with a little metal wire to use as the whip that bumblebee used to hit ravage and got one of the grindors and made a custom head being torn apart for either stop motion or diorama and it look pretty good. I made it where it could click together so I can take it apart and connect it together with ease. You should try what I did if you would like for a cool display with the rotf premium finish optimus prime.
I've got Blackout but the paint and new hands on Grindor definitely make him the better version.

I noticed the last waves of Studio Series 86 and the Bay figures, we got 3 Bay figures and a full wave of 86 figs.
Now we are getting 3 86 figs and a full wave of bay figures.
I hope Hasbro Pulse does a Transformers Fan First Friday this week to reveal the Bay Wave.

You know what bugs me the most right now?
I've had Blackout for a year and I more or less nailed the transformation, but I just now got Grindor and I'm having trouble with top part behind his head and bugging me a lot.

I really like this Grindor. But I would of wish this was a bigger figure like the KO upscale one, & I would of wished this used the nice light grey the rotf Grindor but with better applied rust. Since Blackout was in the Atlantic ocean as the AllSpark shard healed him & added mass to his body due to Scrapmetal's parts. Plus metal rusts in water.

I just got this incredible figure from wal-mart and i must say being a big fan of blackout i also happen to like grindor and i also like the rotating wrists and possible thumbs as well as the jointed fingers so all in all he is a badass helicopter and a nightmarish robot...

There's an upgrade kit for Optimus that gives him another ion blaster in chrome paint, another axe with some extra details, and his hooks.

Holy crapppp I didn't even see this being announced anywhere until I saw this video!!! I am very happy with this release because I don't have blackout anymore and it sells for a higher price in the aftermarket 💀☠

I was hoping for some quality of life stuff because on my blackout, going to vehicle mode is such a pain and nothing wants to stay clipped together

I wish they added some more paint on the JAGUAR (feline not canine) cause ravage just looks plain. Like I wish they added a few more silver highlights and prehaps a tiny bit of dry brushing, but as an accessory it’s quite a good sculpt
