At first I thought it was an odd question, cos I've never heard anyone ask 'what do I need from the crowd?', but it really gave me a fresh perspective, some new ideas and some inspiration. Thanks man, your videos are really helping me!
You made me want a moog...Their filters are soooo buttery and smooth.... I used to have the same thing happen as you on the pads from the mpc. Now I have a Digitone with scale locking and once again, I get way different things than using my keyboard. And I have a very good keybed that I would not trade for certain other elements that may require that kind of feel... I just get different relationships that I may not even think of on a regular keyboard because I'm locked in "my usual" way of looking at the notes. Studio players play synths, and live players play crowds. That was a very cool video and you have very well-developed sound design skills. That Moog too....... The final result would have me dancing away on a dance floor. Thank you, I enjoyed this.
Subscribed ! Wonderful tutorial, is there a video on how you organized set in the akai with presets of external synth and channels ? So talented you are!
you are so right about skipping straight to the 5th chapter. Me too sometimes I skip "on today s topic" to 3on the setup" chapter. Sorry man, promis not to again. You are a very good teacher and inspiring professional
Great Video! I do not want to disrespect, but I do think turning the high line into a park is a great idea. If you want to make public transit better in NY, turn the D Line into a loop back down to Brooklyn. And expand. No more bottleneck in Manhattan. Loop the whole MTA.
Turning the high line into a park and looping the whole MTA? Now that's some out-of-the-box thinking! Who knows, maybe New York City will be the first to have a theme park on top of its subway system!
Do you have a video somewhere that talks about how you've set up the MPC so that it records and plays midi to different devices in your live setup? Maybe its a super basic question but I've never used one before. I've got a handful of synths and I've mainly been using a keystep pro to program longer tracks, but its not really a performance device to me. I'm considering getting an MPC but its not clear to me how easy it is to get it to record midi sequences and automatically repeat them, mute them, switch and back forth between different sequences, etc. I guess this is really a question about your basic MPC workflow for a live performance.
I don't really use the mpc that way. Best is to copy the sequences over and delete the notes. On those 'blank' sequences, the right preset settings will still be active so you should be able to set yourself up and play
nice man! geef je toevallig ook lessen / coaching in live set up? ik heb 2 MPC's live, een bass station, microfreak, gitaar en looper, maar geen idee nog hoe ik dit goed opzet voor gigs.
Just a lil thing: I like your vid but the intro and outro music are WAY too loud compared to your soft voice. This always startles me when it bounces in :)
Wow, thank you so much for all the great advice!! You really help me organize all my scattered thoughts into the tunnels they needed to go into, to be able to perform in front of people at night bedroom DJ 🏔️🖤

What's the name of your intro song? I'd love to give it some extra listening time.
