Love the fact that you keep the "disasters" in your videos. Not everything goes exactly to plan in the wild and these are good reminders of that fact! Great job!
i always search for two healthy trees about fourteen feet apart. put a line between those trees for my tarp. then place ground cloth (new shower curtain). place my tent door toward one tree any attach a "yank me out" cord. then up the tent.
Down here in Texas, the trees are budding out and I'm planting tomatoes later today. I was hoping for a little more winter before mosquito/tick/water moccasin season began. Great job on the video.
That sounds pretty nice!! We’re still a little ways a way from that still, probably not until middle of May at least. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get some more snow
We have snow in Colorado today. Supposed to have more Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. We've had snow days where we had to close school last two Thursdays.
Sorry to see your sleeping bag got burned. I guess we can all expect gear damage. I appreciate your resolve to show your adversity as well; certainly lots to be learned by watching you cope with the rough bits as well. Enjoyed your video very much!
Nice video Rob! How are you? A very windy day to camp, isn’t it? But your face says that you are enjoying as a champion! That is great my friend. Good solution with the chimney, sure I would have done the same as you. A very big hug my friend. I’ll see you in the next. Take care my friend
Great video! I love my KUIU 7200 Icon Pro! And my Winnerwell stove! You have good taste in gear. You should try a tipi, you’ll never look back. A couple good budget options are the Luxe Octopeak and One Tigris Rock Fortress. I find myself using the One Tigris the most even though it’s twice the weight of the Octopeak. It’s so nice to be able to stand up and I’m 6’4”. So much floor space too, especially if you hang it from a tree or ridge line instead of using the pole, saves weight too.
Hey Robert !, cool to see you over came the problems often plagued with winter camping, It's always "Murphy's Law" lol.. Your camp site was great, what a view.. Looking foreword to your next winter adventure as long as the season holds out for ya, All the Best and Happy Trails !!
Thanks Scott! lots of different challenges on this one but you just have to roll with the punches some times, Mother Nature likes to constantly challenge us! I’m looking forward to getting out again as soon as possibke
That's why my hot tent stove is stainless steel; I'd get way too frustrated with that flimsy stovepipe. But I also always use a sled, so I don't need to count ounces. Glad you got thru it so well. Fun as always.
Hello like your video with so much duration you got the fire start and cook you some food look delicious you are so brave that winds is blowing .Take care and still warm and safe.🤟🙏🙏😱😊😊❤️
Loved this one! You turned the disasters round, and managed to keep from screaming and packing up to go home. You certainly have patience (Yorkshire stubbornness) when it comes to the stove pipe. One thing though…. HP! It’s a shame that most American breadcakes are so sweet, bagels are a bit too chewy but that bacon…yummy REAL bacon ☺️
Haha yeah the bacon is awesome! So lucky I was able to find a place that sells real British cut bacon! Shame I can't find too many places that sell HP though
Lookin good brother. You have that problem too I see. Whenever I pull out a tarp or something that needs to be strapped down the wind picks up lol. Gonna have to change your name to Brooks and Biceps if you keep up all that working out lol
Bacon sandwiches, not just for Breakfast, you have one whenever you like Rob, we do, all the way from Leicester, England, keep up the vids mate, we love em 👍
As my Mum would say to me coming from a weekend in the woods all fingers cut. "Your a wee bit of a Dafty" and sometimes I wonder if we're related lol. Get yourself a old school non electric crank hand drill and pre drilling the holes first before at 4" then hammer 🔨 the pegs in the ground. God I hope you don't have relatives in Glasgow Scotland lol
Haha I am a quarter Scottish actually! Still have family that live up in Isle of Whithorn over by Dumfries and Galloway! I guess I’m a wee bit of a dafty too lol
That bacon and egg muffin looked great lad (I know it was a bagel but I'm from the north of England so it's a muffin lol) ✌️ Great channel you have built up so far your videos are brilliant watch.
I was looking at that tent thinking "thats kinda small, I would totally melt my sleeping bag". Next scene, melted sleeping bag. For what its worth Ive melted holes in a few things in a much larger tent. One of my videos shows one thing Ive done to help; drive stakes in around the stove as a physical barrier. The other thing that is absolutely key for me is that the zipper side goes toward the stove no matter what. Otherwise, Ill flop the bag open and inevitably it would brush the stove. Fortunately they've been small holes so far.
@@BrooksandBirches, I live in the lower Hudson Valley (Warwick) and I probably only get there once a year, but when I do, I come out of the store with several hundred dollars worth of stuff. I love their cheese curds.

Hey Rob - "How's it goin?" See you had your dancing shoes on again. That must have been a real challenge setting up the tent in all that wind. I would imagine the wind chill factor was pretty severe also. Harvested my lemons yesterday and all the Citrus trees are in bloom here. 87 degrees today. Have you ever thought about camping in Arizona in the Winter time? We have some beautiful mountains and some pretty remote locations here in Southern Arizona. No Rattlesnake dangers from November to February. Still getting a little snow up in Northern Arizona around Flagstaff, you want to do cold weather camping. Stay safe out there. Thank you for sharing this adventure with us. Randy in Arizona
Great work, my friend. That was a well-earned meal, man. Enjoy that! Damn sleeping bag melt, way to roll w/the punches, mate. Great content, man - showing the real is the best in my opinion. Duct tape never hurt anyone, esp MacGyver! Cheers, bud!
Thanks buddy!! Yeah some times things go a little sideways and you just have to figure it out on the fly! A bit of duct tape seems to fix most things in the woods I’ve found, duct tape and a little help from some super glue works great!
Hey, Rob! Cleo here. I love breakfast for dinner. Don't let the bastards get you down. Most people lose so many calories just being outdoors that you absolutely *should* treat yourself when you go out. Once you throw in hiking, chopping wood, the body shock of falling, setting up your tent, burning it down and practicing karate moves on trees, one can indeed overdo it if they're dieting. Where's Blue? Is she doing alright? And what the hell was that yellow double-egg-looking-thingy on your plate? Thanks again for another great video. It really helps to distract the mind during this era of madness.
Any intro with something about a "disaster" is sure to be interesting. Duct tape for the win. I'm enjoying your late winter series. It was -7 F a couple of weeks ago in Wyoming, now the highs are around 60 and the lows are above freezing. I may have to explore the Bighorn Mountains soon.
Thats awesome!! I would love to spend some more time out in Wyoming, I'll be passing through twice this year but I would love to spend some actually time exploring
I've been wanting to go on a camp North but I don't want to drag a large canvas tent behind me for a stove set up. This tent is awesome. That egg and bacon sandwich in a snowy forest was AWESOME! Brave or ???? Until next time. Respect from Florida, where the only ice is in the drinks!
I always like bacon and eggs at suppertime, that's when we had them when I was young, we'd have boiled potatoes then we'd put a fried egg on top that's how all of children liked it best I think he eggs were cheaper than the meat back then too, we had a vegetable with it but we always had different ones;

Thanks Jay!! I like this tent a lot but I wouldn’t really recommend it for the summer because it doesn’t have a floor so the bugs would get straight in! It’s a little weird that it has door screens but no floor
