"Childish but it's fun" We all need a little more of that in our lives these days. The long fire under the tarp looks amazing. I have never done that but may give it a go one day. Cheers Rob.
Nice one, Rob. I did wonder what on earth you were up to when I saw you throw yourself at that tree. I had to play it twice! Made me laugh. Take care out there ☺️🇬🇧

Great camera work in beautiful conditions. I believe I could hear the silence of those woods, at least before the snowmobiles arrived. Must say I’m surprised that pad gave you enough ground cold protection. More snow coming!
Thanks Drew! Yeah the snow was so fluffy because of how cold its been that the woods were dead quiet! I was looking forward to a big helping of snow today and all we've had so far is rain!
Consider making a doublebag for winter. They used to be more common but still work if one bag is slightly larger than the other. I have slept in 30 below F in the Adirondacks quite comfortably with a lightweight summer bag inside a cold weather (not winter per se) bag. You avoid an expensive dedicated winter bag if you do not need one. Cheers.
I have done this before and I have a nice fleece bag from Dicks that was like $15 the problem is it is so much bulk bringing two bags with you, not to mention heavy!
just tested out my tigrus bungalow 2.0 i got for christmas. got down to 23 ( for florida, thats damn cold). but what i did to combat the cold, i used a queen sized 100% wool blanket and wrapped up with it IN my sleeping bag....stayed warm all night long!

There's nothing worse than a weak sleeping bag. I was on a fishing trip last Winter and was unexpectedly caught out overnight in sub-freezing weather. all I had in my truck was an old Coleman. I May have had 15 minutes of sleep that night. A good fire was all that saved me. Your sleeping bag would probably feel warm compared to that.
Totally agree mate! That's one of the reasons I don't love to head out in temps that I know are beyond my sleeping bags limits because we've all been there when you have the wrong gear and spend the whole night freezing cold and I've done different survival situations on the channel before and it's not fun at all
