Her duet, If This World Were Mine, with Luther Vandross was, and still is, a classic.
This is the comment right here! A forever classic
I don’t think they’ve done much Luther Vandross and this one is a must! Great suggestion! ❤
Some Luther Vandross would be amazing.
Oh man, when this dropped in the club back in the day, the dance floor got busy! Still got my 12 inch single and still play it. Classic.
AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH..
GOOSEBUMPS & HAIR ON THE NECK PRICKLING FIGHTING TO GET ON THAT DANCEFLOOR..
GR80'S #1 FLOOR FILLA EAAAASSSSSSIILLYYY.
Yes! A sister who can sing. Patti Austin is another forgotten voice.
Mine too. She's in my top 5.
In the 80’s, there were many. Stephanie, Phyllis, Evelyn, Anita, Regina, Vesta, Miki, Meli’sa, Shirley, Karyn, Angela Bofill & Winbush,Sharon Bryant, Alyson Williams, Joyce Kennedy... 🖤
Patti can sing the phone book to me. 🥰
@@misterdoe I've loved Patti since I was a little girl. Heard her sing for the first time on Bob James "Two" (1975) . She has been my #1 ever since . I have a deep appreciation for her music 🎶,
Absolute plethora of quality r and b and funk bands around in the late 70s and early 80s and all were superb, including this lady, with her voice and soul.
And I was dancin' my ass off!!! ❤❤❤
"Shake it Up, Tonight!" Is my favorite of hers. It's an ABSOLUTE banger!
Jay, you'll LOVE the bass line. It's funky & infectious.
An underrated classic! One of my favorite songs (musically/ arrangement) of all time, written by one of my favorite producers of all time (Jam & Lewis). Fire!
( new band ) S.O.S. BAND - " Tell Me You Still Care " and " Take Your Time Do It Right " two fantastic classic R&B Pop from the early 1980s with a beautiful female Vocalist
Mary Davis 🖤
This song has a very much like an SOS band song, awesome tune from back in the day
Toto...Cheryl Lynn provided the female backing vocal, singing an adaptation from the nursery rhyme "Georgie Porgie."[5] wiki.
Amber & Jay, the late 70's & early 80's was when the Funk-Disco was kicking butt. I am glad that I was born in 71 n got to listen to all lot of funk -disco songs., U can dance to that type of songs. Glad that U guys did Cheryl Lynn. Here R more video hits that U guys need to react from Cheryl Lynn. Georgy Porgy featuring Toto; Shake It Up Tonight; If This World Were Mine featuring Luther Vandross; Star Love; If You'll Be True To Me; Feel It; In The Night; If You Were Mine; All My Lovin. Thank U!!!
I was fortunate enough to meet Cheryl during a promotional tour for the Instant Love album. She is a sweetheart. "Shake It Up Tonight", "Believe In Me/If This World Were Mine", "Star Love" are just a few songs to listen to. She's wonderful.
The longer version is better. Shake it Up Tonight is another Cheryl Lynn banger!
Yup, I’m thinking, where is the rest of it…
Another one I love! Great to bop to, Jay!
Love Come Down/Shame were by Evelyn Champagne King.
Wow bought this on 12" in 1983..? Around that time. A great song.. Never saw the video at the time(thankfully lol)
New music:
1. "Angel" by Angela Winbush (pronounced Ahn-juh-luh)
2. "A Whole New World (Aladdin's Theme)"by Peabo Bryson (pronounced Pee-bo) and Regina Belle (animated Disney
movie "Aladdin"
3. "Secret Rendezvous" by Karyn White
Great suggestions ❤😊
Cheryl Lynn's 1981 Disco classic, Shake It Up Tonight, is definitely amazing. Also, Keep It Hot, and Instant Love are great tracks.
Check out the video of, "Shake It Up Tonight" It gives me the feel of being back in the clubs of that day, with all the magic and energy!!!
I've had that one on constant rotation for 15 years.
The couple that dance throught the video are amazing!
One of the most underated singers EVER!!!!, with a 5 octave vocal range!
I love this channel. I've commented before on how radio in my day (yeah, I'm older) exposed you to everything. We got rock, soul, R&B, disco, country, rap (it was just starting). It was all there. The same is true of this channel. It's all here. If I didn't listen to this channel, I might not have ever heard this song--or many others that you've reacted to. I'm glad that I did. I don't like everything, but I like being exposed to everything. Thank you for that--and for being you.
Got Cheryl Lynn greatest hits CD in my car I'm not ashamed to say!
One of my favorite songs of all time.
Incredible, love her voice
This song is having a resurgence on tik tok and made the charts i think in the top 10.
Here in Baltimore they have a Encore Challenge to this song dancing the Park Heights Strut. So much fun. This song never gets old.
I played this song so much, had the 12 “ vinyl, listened to it on my Sony Walkman, and when it came on in the club, it was a wrap. I ran to the dance floor. please do “Got A Love For you” by Jomanda .
I'm assuming you want to hear Hurley's House Mix?
Had it on a homemade radio mix tape! 🤣♥️
I love Jomanda!
I remember watching Cheryl Lynn perform on the Gong Show in the '70s. It was obvious that she had incredible talent, and not long after, she was signed to Columbia Records, where she released her debut album. The Gong Show was more comedic than anything else, but every so often, someone extremely talented like Lynn would appear.
I love her voice! This is one of my absolute favorite songs. I always enjoy this song. Great song choice and reaction guys. I love it.
Oh yeah there were dance battles.. individual, duo and groups
Yes, Amber, there were dance battles back in my day. Those people were serious about those dance battles, too. It was awesome!
And don’t forget she had another hot disco hit after Got To Be Real called “ Star Love”, really upbeat disco vibe!
This is one of the earliest hits by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis!
This song was produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, who were in the funk band The Time (aka "Morris Day & The Time" or "The Original 7ven". Jam & Lewis wrote & produced a lot of hits for Janet Jackson, Human League, New Edition, Rod Stewart, Alexander O'Neal, Cherrelle, Peabo Bryson, Chanté Moore, Usher, SOS Band, etc. They even produced one of the early singles by rapper/actor Ice-T called "The Coldest Rap" plus another early 1980s hip hop song "Bad Times" by Captain Rapp & Kimberly Ball. The more popular version that was played on R&B radio was the Kimberly Ball only version without the Captain Rapp parts.
My favorite tune by her is called Feel It! Totally rockin. You have to check it out.
DA "#1 FLOOR FILLLLLLLAAAAAA"...🎶🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎵🎵😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎 GOOSEBUMP CITY!!!!!!!
THE VIDEO IS SHIIIIITTTTT. NO POINT, IT'S DISTRACTING... "THE BEST FLOOR FILLER OF THA GR80'S".. GOOSEBUMPS & HAIR ON YOUR NECK PRICKLING..🎶🎶🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎶🎶🎵🎶😎😎🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵😎🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵😎🎵❤❤ 12" VERSION IS BETTER TOO 8.09...
Other ladies with superb voices and talent from this era include evelyn king, melba moore, very much worth reacting to their collection of songs.
Shake it up tonight byCheryl was another banger as was Evelyn champagne kings shame. The dance floor would be packed when they played
If you want another high energy song by Miss Cheryl Lynn with a JAW-DROPPING vocal performance, then you will want to review her song, Star Love. Your jaws will be on the floor several times during her performance.
Great reaction! There's a lot more Cheryl Lyn to discover like: All My Lovin', Star Love, I've Got Faith In You, Feel It, Keep It Hot, I've Got Just What You Need, Love Bomb, Shake It Up Tonight, Show You How, In The Night, If You'll Be True To Me, Instant Love, Sleep Walkin', Look Before You Leap, Fix It, Fidelity, Fade To Black, It's Gonna Be Right, Let Me Love You, Loafin', New Dress, Upset, Every Time I Try To Say Goodbye, Whatever It Takes, Good Time.
OMG that bass line is deep!!! I love everything Cheryl Lynn, but this one makes me feel a kinda way 🔥
Another 80s soul Diva to check out is Ms. Jocelyn Brown. Her hit song, "Somebody Else's Guy". Vocals are nasty!
see how much the 80s music was so divers . LOVE THE 80S music
If you want more soulful divas from the 80s, check out Ms. Evelyn "Champagne" King. Her hits, "Shame", "Love Come Down", "I'm In Love". All three of these songs are straight up dope!
Cheryl Lynn's other song. Played this song endlessly.
Thank you guys for doing her
To .me she was always never recognized. I saw her live at the ROXY with comedian Franklin Ajaye back in the day in LA. and she diid a Grand prefromance. 😊
Loleatta Holloway and Martha Wash never got the recognition either. Such a shame their voices could shake a building

Great singer, loved her voice!👍💜💜
All right my babies.... You already know when a banger is grooving, your chair dancing is moving. Come on, now‼️💯🔥💃🏼🕺🏼😁👍🏼
Many have heard Cheryl Lynn without them actually beeing aware of it! If you have heard Georgy Porgy with Toto you have heard Cheryl. She sings background vocals on it. The reason for this was keyboard player of Toto David Paich actually co-wrote Cheryl's first hit and probably most famous song Got to be real. Maybe it was like that she was in the same studio as Toto when they were working on Georgy Porgy. If you haven't checked out Got To Be Real you gotta do it!!
Another banger you have reacquainted me with! Thank you!
Here's a little bit of an odd choice, but it is Cheryl Lynn-related, check out Toto's "Georgy Porgy" (yeah, the title is the old nursery rhyme). Cheryl provides the vocals for what is essentially the chorus. (And her vocal assistance gave Toto its only Top 40 R&B hit.)
Roller Skating song!!! She's awesome. Try SHAKE IT UP TONIGHT.
I do believe Evelyn Champagne King is a bit funkier. Good song I wanna skate now.
~Red
i have for letters for Cheryl Lynn! L.O.V.E.! the club mixes and dud mixes were insane!
80's r&b classic. This song was #1
The song is popular again today because of many TikTok videos presenting dance challenges.
Yes! Another great house party song is SHAKE IT UP TO NIGHT. It's a great dancing song.
“You Saved My Day” by her was a big record in the underground clubs here in NY. Surprised no one has recommended “Love Sensation “ by Loleatta Holloway. The Tom Moulton mix was and still is a club anthem …
Yes this is one of those cookout songs or song me and mom used to dabce to when we clean up on Saturday mornings as a kid in the 80s.
Star Love
I can’t believe this is the first time you are hearing this song!
Before their stuff with the S.O.S Band, this was one of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis' earlier works while they were still with Morris Day and the Time. In my opinion, they are the greatest producing duo in music history.
Dance battles in the 80's were for sure a thing. Even street gangs sometimes settled beefs with breakdancing battles. No joke.
I'm telling you, UA-cam be cutting the mess out of these videos? No Club bangers is that short, especially not this one. Cheryl Lynn is a legend. Next you have to do "Shake It Up Tonight.🔥🔥👍🏽✌🏽
Guys thanks for this fun classic . Here's another dance floor classic by Cheryl lynn you should check out Shake It Up Tonight (1981) also Check Out
Stephanie Mills What'cha Gonna Do With My Lovin (1979)
Inner Life Caught Up In A One Night Love Affair (1979)
Evelyn Champaign King I'm In Love (1981)
Alicia Myers I Want To Thank You (1981)
Chaka Khan Clouds (1980)
Chaka Khan What'cha Gonna Do For Me(1981)
Thanks again Jay and Amber 😊
Cheryl did a good job; this song has a nice beat to it. The dance moves were great. I suggest "If This World Were Mine."
oletta adams 'get here'
I thought that this was going to be the longer version. This is the (commercial) radio version. The soul stations would play the extended version.
The next song of hers that you should check out is her duet with Luther Vandross, If this World Were Mine. An absolute delight.
Gday from Downunder guys, thank you for never failing to make me smile. Would love to see you do some more Aussie music, Bow River by Cold Chisel, Barbados by the Models and If you leave me by Mental as anything just to name a few. Thanks again, much love.
Shake it up. Got to be real. More Cheryl Lynn please❤
I saw Luther Vandross, and she was one of the guest that night… And they sang that That remarkably great song together… If this world were mine! If you can react to that you won’t regret it it’s a keeper❤
You want to hear insane vocals from her - check out Star Love in the Night you will be speechless... She is an amazing vocalist love her music. Enjoy
Some more r&b from the 70s is from Ann peebles - I can’t stand the rain, come to mama; Angela bofill - I try, this time I’ll be sweeter, what I wouldn’t do (for the love of you); Phyllis hyman - you know how to love me, somewhere in my lifetime;
Brenda Russell - way back when, so good, so right; Denice Williams - free; Minnie ripperton - inside my love; Marlena shaw - go away little boy; Dorothy moore - misty blue; Candi staton - young hearts run free; Gwen mccrae - rocking chair; Emotions - flowers, don’t ask my neighbors, I don’t wanna lose your love; Evelyn “champagne” king - shame, I don’t know if it’s right
Guys "Star Love" by Cheryl Lynn , you'll love this jam
This really is iconic for its time. Thanks for choosing this one! May I suggest Morris Day & The Time? 777-9311 or Jerk Out.
CHERYL LYNN - " Love Come Down " 1980s this is another super fantastic and fire 🔥 song you guys will definitely love this classic jam too.
Oh, that's Evelyn 'Champagne' King from 1982. She had so many amazing Disco and Electro Boogie classics.
I'm In Love , Shame, Back To Love, I Can't Take It, Stop That, Out There, Your Personal Touch, and Hold On To What You've Got.
@@makingmnz7564One of Evelyn’s many jams post-“Shame”. ✌🏽
Great voice , GOT TO BE REAL is my favorite
An early Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis production (Think Janet Jackson) 80s R&B hit factory!
I can just picture Cheryl Lynn as one of the understudies for the dancing "Weather Girls" women in the "It's Raining Men" video. The vocals are different but her dancing & attitude seems to fit right in.
As to the dance battles, I am sorry to disappoint you but they did NOT have them in my area in Canada at least in the 1980s or 1990s - which is a shame because I would have loved them myself. (The closest & only exception were TV show contests in the 1970s like "Tiny Talent Time" for the little, LITTLE set - about your youngest daughter's age & younger. It was singing as well as dancing acts & I LOVED watching it as a kid.
In fact, there is even a UA-cam video that I have seen circulating of a VERY young Ryan Gosling getting his start on another one of these shows nearby to me but it had a different name. You should try to find that video & he was certainly giving it his all [& WAS talented, even way back then].)
Just to clarify. When I am talking about the young Ryan Gosling, this is in his days even BEFORE he was on the Mickey Mouse Club.
Finally, get the long version.
The cookout don’t start until they play this…..
This isn't the whole song. The video versions usually aren't. This is a song that actually "ends" instead of fading out.
SOS Band - Take Your Time / Just Be Good To Me
Hi guys, I always see you two in Australia, cheersss,....
Great 80s r&b song
I've heard this song so many times but never saw the video lol
This is my jam!
SHAKE IT UP TONIGHT! all i can say.
Checkout her song WHATEVER IT TAKES and SHAKE IT UP TONIGHT

As some others have suggested Shake It Up Tonight is a good one!
Best by her Got to be Real

The ending of this song is brilliant, it got cut short….
Yes, we had a dance-off back in the day☺️
