Her awards n former marriage 2 Mr Big Ron Isley was talk of our day! Only tha younger generation is catching on 2 her but TRUST tha woman is stellar 👌🏾 🎉❤
I had their first CD called a Street Car Name Desire" this is a classic! I also had this CD! Angela left Renee because he was jealous and abusive to her! She married Ronald Isley but he was still in his ho-e faze!

Angela winbush is a powerhouse vocalist.
Angela wrote the song "Your Smile" about her grandmother. So sung the song with so much feelings but that sounds song can be about anyone who's smile lift your spirits. With her songs "Angel" and "Your Smile " Angela captured my heart in the 80s. Angela uses her vocal ability in a song to touch your heart and make it an experience in as well as a song.
Angela's voice is up there with Areatha's, Patti LaBelle, Stephanie Mills, Jennifer Hudson, Jennifer Nettles ... It's top tier.
With all due respect,Jennifer Hudson should not be in the same sentence as the other singers.Jennifer hasn't got their range.

Angela Winbush has been in music most of her life, the group Rene & Angela, then her solo work, she even was married to Ronald Isley of the Isley Brothers for many years, a very talented accomplished woman that definitely deserves her flowers.

Angela is a songwriter . She is a gifted musician. She wrote songs for Stephanie Mills Ron Isley aka Mr. Big just to name few She from STL BIG SHOUTOUT TO HOMEGIRL
She wrote Baby Don't Cry for Lalah Hathaway also.
Vocal Range like this is why us old heads say that singers today have NOTHING on those that came before... Imagine the voice that were never Recorded: Those that did night after night in clubs but never had an opportunity to make a Record: Those that Stay singing in Church, never singing for money because of their Faith.... There were Voice that would make you have to stop walking and just stand there in Awh....

True talent NO one today comes close
I was watching Soul Train and the guest artist that day was Angela Winbush. She did two songs and the one I remember best was I've Learned to Respect The Power of Love. She performed this song live. I was in awe!! So much so that I went to the record and brought her album.
We had some of the greatest music growing up.
We called them slow jams or the quiet storm. ❤
We could fall asleep listening to this kind of music, on the radio.
I got in trouble many a night falling asleep with my radio on as a teen.
I absolutely remember The Quiet Storm. It came on after the Top 9 at 9 countdown of most popular songs. It was usually 10pm-2:00am. That was some of the best listening music. Good times. My pre-teen and teenage years.

Yeah, you have finally stepped into the realm of R&B female legends of the 70’s and 80’s, yeah these women cannot be touched in the history of vocal performance in my opinion. Angel Winbush, Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle, Phylis Hyman, Denise Williams, Angela Bofill, Stephanie Mills, Tina Marie, Whitney Houston, Regina Belle, Miki Howard and Janet Jackson. These women can all blow. The first four as mentioned are just like Luther Vandross and Ron Isley complete masters of their vocal instruments. Angela Winbush was part of the Duo of Rene & Angela (They were not a couple) with several R&B hits before going solo. Look for the songs “Your Smile”, “You had a good Girl”, “Hello Beloved “ (duet with former husband Ron Isley) some of my favorites, All showcase her incredible vocal talent. 100 R&B and pop hits between these 10 Diva’s.

"Your Smile" is another song that Angela really gives you her range. The only thing is that the arrangement of that song isn't very different from this one. I think that is why her solo career wasn't as great as it should have been, because the production on her albums lacked a certain creativity and range. No fault of her own, but sometimes labels have a hard time trying to produce perfect songs for artists with such huge talent as Angela Winbush. And so, they end up produce albums for these artists that do not chart well, and eventually the artists loses steam with the public. She only had three studio albums all of which did okay on the charts, but had she had better production on them could have easily charted higher with her talent, and perhaps afforded her the ability to make more albums. But regardless of her albums' lackluster sales, her voice is second to none! She's a Diva for sure. :)

I know you reacted to Rene & Angela a few months ago, and that's when a lot of us recommended you listen to this song so you could really experience Angela in all her vocal glory. I'm so glad y'all were finally able to see what we were talking about! This woman... words are gonna fail me here, but this woman has maybe the richest, earthiest, most beautiful voice... All these years later, I still get chills. She does not get the props she should... not even close. Her name should be mentioned along with all the best vocalists. She stays in constant rotation in my playlist. And yes, please react to "Your Smile"!

Even the young people that wasn't born back then hearing her voice for the first time agreed that it was amazing how she was able to elevate her high notes and her falsettos and go so low and big and sustained each one of them something was really wrong with the music industry if they did not appreciate that type of music back then in the seventies and eighties people wasn't doing any of that that was natural voices there was no Auto tone and none of that back then and this woman she amazes these young people these young people who were born that back then and y'all sit back and underwear her the music industry must have really hate it Angela for a reason somebody blackballed her that's the only reason I can see her being on the baby because the young people who were born back in them days are listening to her music now State how amazing unique how how she can hold notes and register in falsettos and go hired and then hold them notes and sustain them for certain periods of time blackballed is the only thing me as a person that listens to music could really just believe that that's what happened I'm sorry
Great singer from the 80s, right into the 90s (70s with Renee). She is an ex of Ronnie Isley’s. You have to hear their duets they did together. I think she could hang with the likes of Whitney, Mariah and Anita!
