Not a couple. Herb was Herb Fame. There were seven different female singers who we're Peaches. Their hits "Reunited" and "Shake You're Groove Thing" were recorded with Linda Greene who was actually Peaches #3. They were a duo from 1976 to 1983.
First of all, I love this song, but... Wow, I had no idea! And ain't that just the way it goes! One Herb & 7 damn Peaches! Reunited!? Peaches #3?! All the other Peaches sayin' "Girl, you betta get on up outta there, you know he got #4 waitin' in the wings right this minute! Man, this some damn Pet Semetary shit goin' on!" 😂
There were many different Peaches over the years but only one Herb. To my knowledge he was never a couple with any of the girls that went by Peaches but they sure would make you believe they were. I remember as a kid seeing them perform on tv and when he started kissing her neck from behind I thought for sure they were married but they weren’t even a couple! Their voices were precise, smooth and so intoxicating. It’s a great song sang by great performers with great voices!❤ We were lucky to live in a time where artists were just that artists. It was a performance and they made you believe it. I still know this song by heart! It is an iconic song! I still have the sheet music for it from back in the 70’s when I was learning to play clarinet lol!❤
Their name sounds like a candle. Another great song played on the radio, wish I can go back in the day to watch those old school TV shows to hear all the classics.

Played regularly on Magic 108 in Saint Louis back in the day. As a youngster my folks set the radio dial to "easy listening"...until I found soul, R&B, and Hip Hop...changed my life. Respect
I was in kindergarten when this song dropped, and it was on the radio ALL the time. Hearing it always transports me back to 1978/79 with Bill Bixby’s Incredible Hulk and Christopher Reeve’s Superman.
Their original hits were in the 60's with a different Peaches named Marlene Mack they had to big hits "Let's Fall in Love" and "Close your Eyes". This is Linda Greene who had the huge hits in the 70's. "Shake your Groove thing", "Reunited" and 'Pledge my Love". This song Reunited was a sequel to "We'll be United" recorded by another great soul group called The Intruders. Both written by Freddie Perren and Dino Ferkaris. Freddie Perren has a huge string of hits in the 70's. I Will Survive, Boogie Fever, Jackson 5, Cooley High movie and so many more. A forgotten Legend.
Several women have filled the role of Peaches over the years. The woman in this track is Linda Greene who was the third woman to be Peaches (1976-1983). Herb is Herb Fame born Herbert Feemster.
SO excited for this. This was one of the earliest 45's that I bought when I was young. BUT, I ended up falling in love with the B Side of it. "Easy as Pie". OMG. GREAT SONG. I would LOVE if you guys reacted to it.
Some other duo's you would enjoy are "Baby, Come To Me" by Patti Austin & James Ingram, "Endless Love" by Diana Ross & Lionel Ritchie, "Unforgettable" by Natalie Cole and her father Nat "King" Cole (you reacted to Nat's original solo but the two of them together, What a treat), "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love" by Roberta Flack & Peabo Bryson and a lost Gem "I Couldn't Say No" by Robert Ellis Orrall & Carlene Carter ( Daughter of June Carter Cash). Others have already mentioned "Saturday Love" by Cherrelle & Alexander O'neal ,"If This World Were Mine" by Tammi Terrell & Marvin Gaye, "You and I" by Crystal Gayle & Eddie Rabbit and "Somewhere Out There by Linda Ronstadt & James Ingram. 👍👍 To those also. "Shake Your Groove Thing" by Peaches & Herb is a faster dance song you would enjoy. Don't know if you two are already familiar with "Wait in the Truck" by Hardy & Lainey Wilson, "Picture" by Kid Rock & Sheryl Crow, "Whiskey Lullaby" by Brad Paisley & Alison Krauss or "Take Me Back Home Girl" by Chris Lane & Tori Kelly, if not another Big Yes for these Country duo's.
This group started in the 1960s, but the Peaches was different from this one. The original one left the music business. The version of the group here (with Linda Greene as Peaches) is the most commercially successful one
Amber, the chorus of Reunited was in a commercial in the last few years (I can't remember what it was, but I think maybe fast food of some sort??). That is probably where you heard it. I remember this song was mega-huge when I was in middle school! Lots of slow dancing to this tune!!
I have a very specific memory of roller skating at a rink with my crush to this song. It was such an iconic song that was played over and over for years on top ten radio stations. It’s def a great prom or other sort of romantic songs. My fav romantic duo is With You I’m Born Again with Billy Preston and Syreeta. Very sweet song that was a hit from a not so memorable scene in a basketball movie with comedian, in a serious role, Gabe Kaplan called Fast Break. The song was the only memorable part of the movie as long as you didn’t watch the movie cuz Gabe Kaplan was not really a romantic lead actor so the song didn’t fit. But the song g was so great that it became a hit all on its own layer down the road. Do check it out if you haven’t already
There were actually 7 "Peaches" but only one Herb LOL. This song and also "Shake Your Groove Thing" featured the third Peaches "Linda Greene Tavani" but Herb and the original Peaches - Francine Edna "Peaches" Baker had a hit in the 60's with a remake of "Love Is Strange" (originally done by Mickey & Sylvia).
Passively listening and watching them is one thing. This song was released during my late adolescent years. Many heart breaks and yes, reuniting. Words and tempo can bring back the raw memories of that age. Thanks for reacting.
Peaches & Herb was Herb Fame with seven different women filling the role of "Peaches" since the “duo” was first created in 1966. Linda Greene Tavani was the third "Peaches", who appeared on Reunited, which hit #1 in 1979 and their other biggest hit Shake Your Groove Thing earlier the same year. Not sure if these two were ever involved romantically, but they sure sizzle! Be sure to check out Shake Your Groove Thing for a completely different yet totally catchy song!
What a great song! This was such a groove and a HUUUUGE hit in the 70's. I remember getting this song on a compilation album that was called K-Tel and it was a mix of popular songs from that time. I was probably 10 when this song was released and this song was constantly played on the radio. You just couldn't escape it (as if you would want to). Check out - "Shake Your Groove Thing". The two were put together by the record company to look as if they were a couple but they were not a couple.
Fun Fact: The original Peaches and Herb started in the mid 60s. They actually decided to escape the music industry and Herb became a Washington D>C> police officer. He ended up being shot a few years later. He quit being a police officer and decided to start singing again. His wife encouraged him to do so but without her as she had 3 kids to take care of. The second Peaches was his cousin. She did not work put. Linda Green became the 3rd Peaches.
I had this album! I used to roller skate around the whole house listening to this. Yes, I said roller skate not roller blade. This was always one of the couples skates at the rinks. Mna, they were so great!
I was still a kid when this came out so I didn't know whether they were a couple or not. I am greatly disappointed that they weren't as they seem so great & loving together. Oh well, a bit of movie romance on the stage & an illusion.
There were several "Peaches" throughout the years. This one is Linda Green. The most significant other was Francine Barker (Let's Fall in Love). Edited, they were NOT a couple; but had great chemistry (like Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell) and it was all for show. He has been married to the same woman since 1959!! ❤. I think they were on Unsung (or some show) where his wife talks about her husband's career. Herb had great chemistry with Francine Batker too.
I saw Peaches and Herb in a club in Bermuda just before they released this song. It was the first time they sang it in public to see how the audience reacted to it. They were great in person
Lots of male-female duos for awhile, some of them were couples and some were just singing partners: Peaches & Herb, Ashford & Simpson, McCoo & Davis, Womack & Womack. In some the woman does most the lead singing like The Captain & Tennille, The Carpenters, and Ike & Tina Turner. I started to include the Eurythmics, but I don’t think Dave Stewart sang.
Gosh you're taking me back to high school in 1979. Big hit with 4 weeks at #1 . This was the follow up to their disco dance song Shake your groove thing earlier that year
I haven't thought about this song in 'forever' and I didn't admit I liked it when I was a teen, but hearing it now is like a fresh breeze blowing out of my memory. Now that I'm all grown up, this is wonderful to hear!
"I Will Survive" Song by Gloria Gaynor {The song's lyrics describe the narrator's discovery of personal strength following an initially devastating breakup. The song is also frequently recalled as a symbol of female empowerment, as well as a disco staple.} {Although Gaynor was convinced that "I Will Survive" would be a hit and tried to persuade the label to release it as the A side, the label refused to entertain the idea and it was released as the B-side to "Substitute". Gaynor's husband took the song to the Studio 54 DJ Richie Kaczor, who loved it. Gaynor gave Kaczor a stack of the records to give to his friends. Other DJs in discos and radio stations soon followed and played that side of the record instead. The popularity of "I Will Survive" led to the label releasing the song as an A side. To support the single, a video shot at Xenon Discotheque in New York was released.}
I heard this song in the car in Las Vegas today. It was number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks beginning May 5, 1979. You should react to their song Shake Your Groove Thing next.
Actually Peaches and Herb was not a couple. Herb was married with children. Also, he was a former police officer. As a matter of fact, there were several Peaches down through the years, including Herb’s daughter.
omg I remember heading to the PX every week for MONTHS waiting for them to get this song in on 45. Finally got it.... it got warped in the heat of a moving truck years later!!!!!!!
Since the last half of the 1960s, there have been 7 Peaches comprising the duo but only one Herb. The one on this song is Linda Green. They also did Shake Your Groove Thing together. The first Peaches was Francine Hurd Barker (We're in this Thing Together). Between there was another Peaches who toured with Herb but cut no records. After that, he retired from show biz and became a police officer in D.C. He returned (sometime in the 1970s) to partner with Linda Green and hit with several songs including this one and Groove Thing. Linda retired to be a wife and mother; she died young.. Herb retired to work for the U.S. Marshall Services. In the 1990s he returned with a series of other Peacheses but I''m not sure they cut new songs, just some concert tours and charity gigs. I think the act is still touring but don't take my word for it.
You two will never understand how much music was not only on the radio but TV as well.

Saw them sing Reunited last year on UA-cam. After all these years, you can still see the love they have for each other
Peaches & Herb was Herb Fame with seven different women filling the role of "Peaches" since the “duo” was first created in 1966.
The quintessential premiere song that would begin the foray into the unique sound that was the 1980s SLOW JAM.
one of the greatest love songs ever made this take me back here like this one.
I forgot how Good this song is!! Haven't heard it for soooo long!
Ashford and Simpson Solid as a rock
they did that reaction not long ago , great reaction !!
@@tomnewman7682 Oh great thanks
Man, I absolutely wore my 8-track of P&H out!!!! Lol This brought back a lot of great memories! ❤
Peaches and Herb "Reunited" is most certainly a PERFECT 100 out of 100...
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND INCREDIBLE...a love song for all of human history!
Oh wow!!! Peaches and Herb!! I haven’t heard this song in years!!!
So good
Going back to my childhood
Back to my roller skating days on Saturday afternoons, when I was 10 years old. It was a couples' classic for years to come. Love this one!!
Such a beautiful classic from back in the day!!
I had this album! I used to roller skate around the whole house listening to this. Yes, I said roller skate not roller blade. This was always one of the couples skates at the rinks. Mna, they were so great!
They were not a couple but great musical chemistry
This was like the 7th Peach that Herb had but this was the most successful version. This cat loved some Peaches. 😂
After it's release this song spent the most weeks number one on charts. They had lots of other hits in the 60s with a different Peaches.
I remember when thus came out in the UK in 1979 I was 18 I loved this tune!
This was my song back in the day!! Jay's face got red at the end. Lol I love you both!! ❤️❤️
This was a hit when i was in elementary school and i had a crush on beautiful Sue. Ah memories.
Saw them in concert in DIsneyland , circa 1978 !!
Shake your groove thing!!! You HAVE to! Great disco song!! 🥰
Ugh..there was a time in the late 70s when you could not get away from this song. I still can't listen again to it to this day. LOL
"I Will Survive"
Song by Gloria Gaynor
{The song's lyrics describe the narrator's discovery of personal strength following an initially devastating breakup. The song is also frequently recalled as a symbol of female empowerment, as well as a disco staple.}
{Although Gaynor was convinced that "I Will Survive" would be a hit and tried to persuade the label to release it as the A side, the label refused to entertain the idea and it was released as the B-side to "Substitute". Gaynor's husband took the song to the Studio 54 DJ Richie Kaczor, who loved it. Gaynor gave Kaczor a stack of the records to give to his friends. Other DJs in discos and radio stations soon followed and played that side of the record instead. The popularity of "I Will Survive" led to the label releasing the song as an A side. To support the single, a video shot at Xenon Discotheque in New York was released.}
This was our go-to slow dance song in the disco era! Thanks guys for bringing back the memories.
This song is soooo smooth & such an Old School classic!!! Luv me some Jay & Amber! Keep up the great work guys!!!
Herb Fame + 7 different “Peaches”. This one was Linda Greene Tavani. She was also on their biggest hit “Shake Your Groove Thing”.
omg I remember heading to the PX every week for MONTHS waiting for them to get this song in on 45. Finally got it.... it got warped in the heat of a moving truck years later!!!!!!!
Great Song and it brings back so many great Memories.
This was Quin sensational slow dance song at the Discos along with ONJ"s "Hopelessly Devoted To You".
