Oh yeah, that's straight fire! I also think they would love "Runaway", it's a great song and the video is so fun to watch with amazing choreo and special effects!
Yes... and I've just put, the whole 1814 thing . I do not know how you'd get it now, but I'm in the UK and had the whole RN 1814 on VHS. The shop only bought 2 of them. Mine and an extra I think mines made landfill when folks moved ho s sadly.
This album is called "Control" because it's Janet taking Control of her life. The song Control was about her taking Control of her career from her dad. Nasty is about her taking back respect from those who would belittle her as a woman. This song is about taking control of her body and not letting a man decide things for her.
This is a legendary Janet ballad. She sung this on her recent tour and the crowds repeated every word. You guys need to watch “Miss You Much” Extended Version.
"Let's Wait A While" spoke to me as a teen in the middle to late 1980s. It's about not rushing into doing something you're not ready for. This was the decade when some of my schoolmates were dating each other.
@Jay - I know you were wanting a fast one, but this is one of the best Janet songs, I don't care who you are. This is the song you asked your girl to dance to at the dance. And if you wanted to be part of the 80's This is part of the 80's. All Janet is good. And to clarify, I listen to metal in the 80's and we all love it. Janet is the BOMB!!!
Fun fact: Janet had 5 top 5 singles from the "Control" album. They each peaked at different numbers, 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5. "Let's Wait Awhile" was the #2 hit.
An 80's R&B singer you guys haven't reacted to yet is Stacy Lattisaw. She had most of her success as a teenager in the early 80's. Her biggest hits were Love On A Two Way Street, Let Me Be Your Angel, and Miracles.
This has been one fabulous female Friday. The eighties had some fearsome females that broke barriers and attitudes all over. Thanks for the reviews. ✌️
All right my babies.... I must say this entire album is incredible from beginning to end. This woman kicked the saloon doors right off their hinges ‼️💯🔥😁👍🏼
I remember this song from spring 1987. I was in 7th grade at the time. It was a very big deal at the time after "Papa Don't Preach" and "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off". I believe it hit number two on the Billboard pop chart. For a more upbeat Janet, I highly recommend "If" from 1993. A GREAT dance song!!
and this song is a very young Janet. She was definitely marketed as the good girl especially compared with Madonna and other female signers at that time. And yes, my mom loved Janet
It was The only duet for them. Janet and Michael released way more music after that point. Janet had 6 or 7 albums after this, and Michael had Blood on the Dance Floor a few years later. So, not sure what you mean by that. I am asking for clarification, not being a bitch. For the record.
One of my favorite Janet ballads. I’ve literally never stopped listening to it since it was released in 1986. She had me wearing black turtlenecks and black jeans for the longest 😂❤
Great song! Actually this whole album is great. This concert was amazing. I was 8 months pregnant when I saw this concert. My husband & I had a blast!!
Love this reaction! Jay, you truly represented the male perspective here, so 💯! And Mama, you held it held for the ladies! Love that! Too cute. I'm all smiles 😃
This "Control" album is amazing. Every song on it was great! The title song was one of my favorites. Also, "When I Think of You" and "What Have You Done for Me Lately?"
Jeez Jay, not everything can be about popping and locking. That wasn't all the 80s were about. In fact, ballads were a big thing back then. You even had some of the hardest rockers of the day putting out slow, beautiful ballads.
He doesn't realize that in order to be relevant for 40 plus years an artist doesn't play or sing the same type songs. They're eclectic in their music. Smh
Janet songs in the 90's were all hits. "Go deep" is a good one to listen to. And the song "All for you". When you get a chance listen to one of them, I think Rob will enjoy it.
The boyfriend in the video is Taimak who played the lead role in the awesome 1985 movie “The Last Dragon” along with singer Denise Matthews aka Vanity who once dated and toured with Prince.
This has always been one of my favorite Janet Jackson songs. It's sung soft and sweet...just like Janet. And she is just stunningly beautiful...and the black and white video is so compelling. LOVE it.
This is such a beautiful, classic song. You don't hear songs like these anymore. Janet's voice is so sweet and she looked so cute. I love Janet Jackson!!!
It's okay J, not everyone has the same musical tastes. And your tastes are apt to change over time (I mean, look how much both of you have changed just since you started this channel!) As far as how much I liked the song back in the day, I loved it. It was one of those sit on the sofa and hold hands songs, which frankly was just fine by me. So not every guy was a horn dog way back when. LOL
For those of us that grew up in the 70s, it was quite a surprise to see the chubby little girl from "Good Times" sitcom (with the great Jimmy Walker) transition to the Janet Jackson 80s pop star young lady.
Suggestions: Nia Peebles "Trouble", Jodey Watley "Don't you want me", "for the girls" "most of all, "some kind of lover" "Real love", Karen White "I love the way you love me" "The way I feel about you" "Secret Rendezvous" "romantic"
You guys have to react to Expose (pronounced expose-a) and one of these hits, Seasons Change, Let Me Be the One or Point of No Return. They are one of my favourite all female groups of the 80s!!
As a teen I was into rock, alternative, and new wave in the 80's, but Janet hit us with her album Control and knocked us ALL on our asses with her fierce determination to break free from her dad's "control" and her sweet, essential, tenderness. I was still, and always will be, A rock, alternative, and new wave girl, but Janet is right in there with my fave singers and groups too!
This song got massive heavy heavy radio rotation y’all , it was looped over and over and is one of her most known songs - of corse her dance pop stuff is the first thing we think of but make no mistake, this jam was catchy and always coming out of someone’s speakers
Janet jackson is a very versatile artist. She is going to have ballads, sensual love songs (she is arguably one of the best artist at that style especially in the 90s) she is a quintessential pop artist/icon/ legend her bag is real deep it isnt just dance pop records even though she has arguable some of the best dance tracks. If you want to listen to her more sensual/slow songs: "Funny How time flies" (no video but classic track from '86 Control album). "Come back to me" (from her highly influential Rhythm Nation album '89). Also that entire album got some great tracks that werent released as singles such as; "Lonely" (which has a Spanish vibe) and "Someday is Tonight. Rhythm Nation is arguably what ushered in that 90s RNB sound with new jack swing which it is given credit to Ted Riley but Riley was inspired by the aesthetics of the Control album which is the precursor to that sound of RNB/dance etc "I get so Lonely" (Velvet rope '97) "AGAIN" (janet album '93) "Anytime Anyplace" (Janet '93) "24 play"(Design of the decade '95) "Someone to call my lover" (All for you 2001 which is a very unique track worth a check out) If you want her dance/pop/rock/RNB type songs: "IF" (Off Janet '93) "Miss you much" (RN 1989) "Love will Never do without you" (RN 1989) "The knowledge " (RN1989 this was her brother MJ favorite song of hers she has a music video of this song but its an edited version of her album version its still a great watch and a gem most people dont know about). "Together Again" (Velvet rope '97 probably one of the most overplayed song in the late 90s). "RUNAWAY" (Design of the decade '95 which is a very fun song) "SCREAM" ('95 song she did with her brother Mike) "FEEDBACK" (Discipline '09) "Son of a gun" featuring Missy Elliot ("All for you" 2001) "ALL FOR YOU" "ALRIGHT" (RN 1989 song Usher has did a performance to and that RNB singer Ciara and Teyena Tayloe have praised). CONTROL" (1986 control album/ interesting fact about the control album had the greatest impact on RNB group TLC which was the best selling group of the 90s and RNB superstar Aaliyah). Rhythm Nation and Janets fashion also impacted the likes of Mexican American singer Selena and most artists of that time frame. Good song. The intro sounds similar to “Daisy Jane” by America. Janet with later sample their song. “Ventura Highway” on “Someone To Call My Lover”. I wonder if Janet was influenced by America.
Janet has so many great songs! I think her voice is very underrated because it has such a sweet quality. Would love to see y'all's reaction to "When I Think Of You".
This was a big song on the R&B stations, especially during the "quiet storm" hours at night. EVERYBODY loved this album.. It was a big change from the "Young Love" Janet of the early 80's.
To this day JANET JACKSON is a unique talent .... this is a great hit. My favorite work of hers is "RHYTHM NATION" -- especially the extended version where she interacts with the little boy.
Come on Jay...you have to be versatile...in our generation you had to be especially if you wanted to be ladies man...its not always about fast upbeat music...got to find it in you
The guy in the video is Taimak, he is really known for the cult classic The Last Dragon. It’s a cheesy 80’s Kong fu movie that you should check out on your movie channel.
FYI... Janet's boyfriend in this video is played by Taimak. He played the lead role in The Last Dragon, a movie that you should definitely add to your reaction list. It was produced by Berry Gordy and Motown and is an urban cult classic.
By the way, the young man playing Janet's boyfriend in the video is actor/martial artist, Taimak. He starred in one of the most iconic comedy movies of the 80s, "The Last Dragon" (1985), which is loads of fun. It also stars the former singer of Prince's all girl group, Vanity 6, Vanity (Denise Matthews, 1959 - 2016) who sung the classic jam, "Nasty Girl" (1982). Both a movie, and song worth reacting to on your respective channels.
Janet has so many hits to choose from its hard to just pick one and I say that cause of millions of fans and everyone likes this or that and myself I can ride with the slow and the fast cause I love her and her music so much she's my queen of pop 🥰🥰🥰
I saw this in a club when I was in my 20s. I am now in my 60s. For me it was the final line. " I promise I will be worth the wait" !!!!! She said it with such sincerity. I verbally said " Take as much time as you need" Unfortunately I never met a real life woman with that much sincerity or integrity.
The love interest in this video is Taimak, best known for his role as Leroy Green (Bruce Leroy) in the 1985 classic: Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon. You two should do a movie reaction to it.
The guy featured in the video is Taimak, a well-known model and a new movie star. His appearance in the video was a major highlight because, at the time, he was adored by girls and admired by guys as one of the coolest dudes around. Janet's decision to make him wait was a bold move that added to the video's intrigue. On your movie channel, you should react to his movie "The Last Dragon" from 1985. It is considered a classic in the black community, and even the Disney animated film references it. Also, it has a Motown soundtrack.
Born in Jan of '78, Janet was one of my first crushes, I was introduced to her as Penny in Good Times. Now, let me say, the early Janet was extremely beautiful and the music was fun and sweet BUT when her self titled album, Janet, released in '93, well, I'll say that changed some things for me! Nonetheless, Janet is both an amazing vocalist and dancer, everything was always top-notch with her music and videos and I absolutely love the Scream video with her and Michael.
"Thats the Way Love Goes" is silky smooth and funky as hell...
Probably my favorite Janet Jackson song.
My jam. 👌🏾
They need to do all the singles from that album. "If," "That's the Way Love Goes," " and "Anytime Anyplace."
THE BEST. AND THE VIDEO IS SO CHILL AND LAID BACK. My no 1 LOVE MAKING SONG
You have to do Janet Jackson "Miss you much" (long version). It's straight fire, and will have you jamming in your chairs!! 🤘😃
Oh yeah, that's straight fire! I also think they would love "Runaway", it's a great song and the video is so fun to watch with amazing choreo and special effects!
M..
I..
S...
S YOU MUCH! 😊❤
Yes, do "MISS YOU MUCH," also "I KNOW YOU WANT THIS."❤❤❤❤
Yes... and I've just put, the whole 1814 thing . I do not know how you'd get it now, but I'm in the UK and had the whole RN 1814 on VHS. The shop only bought 2 of them. Mine and an extra I think mines made landfill when folks moved ho s sadly.
YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!😝
Janet Jackson "LOVE WILL NEVER DO WITHOUT YOU" (original video). It's my favorite of all her songs and she looks incredible in this video. 🔥🔥🔥
My favorite by her!
Love Will Never Do Without You
She kicked, you know what on that cut! 💯
She sure looked A LOT different in that video than she had in her previous ones, to put it mildly.
U guys gotta do “Love Will Never Do” next! She looks soooo beautiful in the music video and it’s a fun song
That's my FAVORITE of all her songs. She looks stunning in that video 🔥🔥🔥
My favorite too!!
My fave! I've requested it before also
Great video directed by Herb Ritts and featuring Djimon Hounsou and Antonio Sabato Jr. 😎
This album is called "Control" because it's Janet taking Control of her life. The song Control was about her taking Control of her career from her dad. A good song and a great message. Janet is simply the best.
Much better role model then a lot of the female artists now days. And better music too.
I absolutely agree!
"Let's Wait A While" spoke to me as a teen in the middle to late 1980s. It's about not rushing into doing something you're not ready for. This was the decade when some of my schoolmates were dating each other.

Wasn't that the first album or maybe first female to have 5 on one album?
Another one by her you should check out called That's The Way Love Goes.
Jay & Amber, you'll love her songs "When I Think of You" and "Again" !! Talented singer and dancer!!
Yes, Again is one of my favs, it showcases her vocal talent, especially the very end of the song
An 80's R&B singer you guys haven't reacted to yet is Stacy Lattisaw. She had most of her success as a teenager in the early 80's. Her biggest hits were Love On A Two Way Street, Let Me Be Your Angel, and Miracles.
AGREED!!!! and her duets. "Teen years "Nail it to the wall".
Now This Is My Favorite Song Of Janet Jackson,Love Her❤❤❤❤
My favorite by her too 🥰

THE PLEASURE PRINCIPLE- such a great dance video!!
This has been one fabulous female Friday. The eighties had some fearsome females that broke barriers and attitudes all over. Thanks for the reviews. ✌️
3/3 aint bad 🙂
Her leading man is from the movie The Last Dragon
Yeah!!!! My favorite Janet Jackson song . One of my favorite female artists.
All right my babies.... I must say this entire album is incredible from beginning to end. This woman kicked the saloon doors right off their hinges ‼️💯🔥😁👍🏼
"Funny How Time Flies" (from Control album) is 🔥. Basically the opposite message of this song. 😂
I remember this song from spring 1987. I was in 7th grade at the time. It was a very big deal at the time after "Papa Don't Preach" and "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off". Same, except I was a junior in college!!!
I was a junior in high school. Janet was everything at the time!
Have we done Janet and Michael together in “Scream”?!!
That was pretty much the last video we got from both of them, and it was FIRE.
It was The only duet for them. Janet and Michael released way more music after that point.
Janet had 6 or 7 albums after this, and Michael had Blood on the Dance Floor a few years later.
So, not sure what you mean by that. I am asking for clarification, not being a bitch. For the record.
Scream was Epic!
LOVED SCREAM!! One of my FAVS!! It WAS FIRE!
YEEESSSS…do Scream. You won’t regret it!
That was the only video they have together.
In addition to 2300 Jackson St. but, that was different
This is a great song. I love it when she says " I'll be worth the wait". Great reaction.
Janet Jackson takes me back to the Eighties. I loved her music growing up having my sister play the albums all the time.
Black Cat is a great one by Janet. She just kills it. ❤
They’ve done it 😊
Got to see her live in 1990 and loved it when she rocked-out on that song.
Her best, that doesn't get the play it should.
My fav Janet song too
Black Cat is one my very favorite of hers
No one more beautiful - Love Janet! 👍
Michael looked like her in the middle of his "transformation".
Janet Jackson’s Together Again - That’s the one you want to react to, it’s upbeat, catchy and has a beautiful melody to it.
One of my favorite Janet ballads. I’ve literally never stopped listening to it since it was released in 1986. She had me wearing black turtlenecks and black jeans for the longest 😂❤
Janet is just remarkable no matter what she does! Just pure talent and innocence in this song!
She is a fantastic performer in concert. Seen her in Boston.
Great song! Actually this whole album is great. This concert was amazing. I was 8 months pregnant when I saw this concert. My husband & I had a blast!!
Saw her in 1990 too :)
Love this reaction! Jay, you truly represented the male perspective here, so 💯! And Mama, you held it held for the ladies! Love that! Too cute. I'm all smiles 😃
There is a 'sequel' song from the Rhythm Nation album called 'Someday Is Tonight', and she DEFINITELY sounds ready lol.
This "Control" album is amazing. Every song on it was great! The title song was one of my favorites. Also, "When I Think of You" and "What Have You Done for Me Lately?"
This song was a hit back in the day. Every party has a period where the pace slows. Not every artist can do both great. Janet definitely CAN!
this song actually has a SEQUEL or ANSWER AND it,s called SOMEDAY IS TONIGHT and it is VERY VERY SENSUAL would love to see u react to it one day
Jeez Jay, not everything can be about popping and locking.
If you two want to hear a badass song by Janet Jackson I suggest you listen to "Black Cat". The video that goes with it is awesome!!
This a classic!
This has always been one of my favorite Janet Jackson songs. It's sung soft and sweet...just like Janet. And she is just stunningly beautiful...and the black and white video is so compelling. LOVE it.
Janet's 90s song That's The Way Love Goes is one of her best!! I do like this one a lot too.
This song is a classic. One of my favorites by Janet. I still remember every single word.
This is a TOP Slow Dance Jam! It sounds like a contradiction, but if you were on a dark dance floor, holding someone close, eyes closed, YES!!!
In 1986 I was 14 years old, this was as a song that would always end up playing at the end of a party. The memories it brings back, jeez!! Thanks guys
You would also love Janet's song, and video, "All For You" (2001). And Jay, it's one of her upbeat, dance songs, lol. :D
Well Amber, you knocked it out of the park again this week for "Female Friday" All 3 were just great great songs. ❤🎼
This is such a beautiful, classic song. You don't hear songs like these anymore. Janet's voice is so sweet and she looked so cute. I love Janet Jackson!!!
It's okay J, not everyone has the same musical tastes. And your tastes are apt to change over time (I mean, look how much both of you have changed just since you started this channel!)
As far as how much I liked the song back in the day, I loved it. It was one of those sit on the sofa and hold hands songs, which frankly was just fine by me. So not every guy was a horn dog way back when. LOL

He has terrible taste in music
For those of us that grew up in the 70s, it was quite a surprise to see the chubby little girl from "Good Times" sitcom (with the great Jimmy Walker) transition to the Janet Jackson 80s pop star young lady.
You must've missed seeing her in Diff'rent Strokes or Fame. She was my teen crush for many years. I even had her album Dream Street!
Or the little girl from The Grinch become the singer for The Pretty Reckless.
Suggestions: Nia Peebles "Trouble", Jodey Watley "Don't you want me", "for the girls" "most of all, "some kind of lover" "Real love", Karen White "I love the way you love me" "The way I feel about you" "Secret Rendezvous" "romantic"
Great suggestions ❤😊
All 3 talented to women take me back to high sch. 🤓
“Give me something to get groovy to” more of a “dim the lights, turn on the disco ball” type of slow jam lol
This is definitely a slow dance song or a "couples only skate" song.
Thanks for taking me back in time!
I had both the teen dance and skating rink experiences. 👌🏾
You guys have to react to Expose (pronounced expose-a) and one of these hits, Seasons Change, Let Me Be the One or Point of No Return. They are one of my favourite all female groups of the 80s!!
Innocent Janet will always hold a special place in my heart. She’s so pretty!
What I wouldn't give to go back for just a little bit and live in this time with this music and this romance again.
I am sure J would love “Alright”. That is an upbeat, fun video featuring Cab Calloway.
You've got to check out her song "Come Back To Me" Gorgeous song! ❤️🎤
so beautiful...... from their epic & iconic album "control"
That family is (and was) so talented. I'm so happy for Janet coming out with her own albums and showing her talent - just beautiful.
This song got massive heavy heavy radio rotation y’all , it was looped over and over and is one of her most known songs - of corse her dance pop stuff is the first thing we think of but make no mistake, this jam was catchy and always coming out of someone’s speakers
Where's Jody Whatley? She had huge hits in the late 80's along with Janet and Paula!

Good song. The intro sounds similar to “Daisy Jane” by America. Janet with later sample their song. “Ventura Highway” on “Someone To Call My Lover”. I wonder if Janet was influenced by America.
Allegedly, America sued and were compensated. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis actually thought no one would notice the musical theft. 🤦🏽♂️
Video is exquisite… love Janet Jackson ballads. ❤
To this day JANET JACKSON is a unique talent .... this is a great hit. My favorite work of hers is "RHYTHM NATION" -- especially the extended version where she interacts with the little boy.
More rocking ladies!!!!!!!!!! You are missing SO much!!
Please, please, please do Runaway! It's one of my favorite songs by her!
"You want this" is awesome!
This entire album was DOPE

Michael and Janet in Scream was incredible!!
This one is so pretty and sweet
Janet was so beautiful
She’s coming to Honolulu in March and yes I will be watching her from the front row. So happy let’s go Janet.
Another beautiful song for your female Friday, the artist is Another Level and the song From the Heart.
This song was HUGE when it came out! Everyone loved it!
All I can say is WOW!!!! Brought me right back to West Springfield High School...mid 1980's
My favourite song by Janet
Having daughters you should appreciate this song.
I saw this in a club when I was in my 20s. I am now in my 60s.
For me it was the final line. " I promise I will be worth the wait" !!!!!
She said it with such sincerity. I verbally said " Take as much time as you need"
Unfortunately I never met a real life woman with that much sincerity or integrity.
I was in 8th grade when this song came out
One of my favorite Janet slow jams. ❤
the love interest is Taimak - the star of the 80's movie, "The Last Dragon". You totally NEED to watch this movie on your other channel!💝
Control is such a great album!
The love interest in this video is Taimak, best known for his role as Leroy Green (Bruce Leroy) in the 1985 classic: Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon. You two should do a movie reaction to it.
How cute was Janet? Big crush.
This is my favourite JJ song. ❤🎼
Definitely, a sweet love song and will stand the test of time.
Janet Jackson with the TV shows good times and different strokes if you want to look her up on that
Born in Jan of '78, Janet was one of my first crushes, I was introduced to her as Penny in Good Times.
Beautiful girl. Beautiful song.
