This is their best performance of this IMO. All the gorgeous guitars and simple vocals. Perfection! Eagles have been my go to group since the 80's. "Take it Easy" is one of their best and their cover of "7 Bridges Road" is gorgeous!
This is the music I grew up on. The Eagles were a great 70's band with so many hit songs. They were known for their great harmonies. "Take It Easy", "Witchy Woman", "Desperado", "Already Gone", "Best Of My Love", "Lyin' Eyes", "Take It To The Limit", "New Kid In Town", "Seven Bridges Road" etc. Before they went solo they were the back up band for Linda Ronstadt.
Did you mean to say they were a backup band for Linda Ronstadt "before" they went off to perform and record their own music as a band? Thanks

This was the "unplugged" version of Hotel California. I love it and it still conveys the essence of the original rocking 1977 concert version, in a more subtle way. The Eagles split up for a while, saying they'd only get back together if Hell froze over. When they did get back together it was called the "Hell Froze Over" tour. :) You should check out some of the music they each did as solo artists in the interim. Thanks for your reaction! This version is so minimalist. Lovely. But, I must admit, I love the big arena rocking version.
I was fortunate to see The Eagles in concert - It was as though you couldn't believe what you were hearing! The incredible harmonies, excellent musicians, unforgettable lyrics of Hotel California, The Last Resort, etc. My only complaint? I wanted the concert to last two hours longer. They were, without doubt, one of the greatest bands from the 1970's.
I was lucky enough to see them live in 2005. they were on my bucket list. I still wear the concert t-shirt and always get compliments on it!
There’s a live version when they were much younger…1976 live. I saw them a year prior in 1975 and was 15. What an introduction to concert going! ❤❤❤
On the earlier live version, the singer is also the drummer.
They had a falling out and said at one point he’ll would have to freeze over before they played as a group again. This is from their HELL FREEZES OVER tour ❤️❤️❤️

This is the acoustic version with Don Henley just singing at the mic. You should see the live version where he plays the drums and sings. The other guys play electric guitar (double-necked guitar-Don Felder) and Joe Walsh on electric guitar-each having solos and then dueling together. This version is cool but not the hot version.
This is the only version of Hotel California I will listen to as it demonstrates the greatest musicianship and mastery of their instruments. But perhaps that is because I dislike the Eagles in general.....this is the one instance where I have no choice but to acknowledge their skill.....
If you want "dueling guitars" listen to Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd or anything off of Clapton and King's Riding with the King.....

After you listen to this, if you haven't already done it, listen to this song from the "Hotel California" album. Same music, same vocal arrangement, but for the most part a very different arrangement. both are outstanding, but in my case being born in the 50's the original version will always be my favorite. Give it a listen!

"If theres another Eagles song"?? PICK ONE - ANY ONE. These guys, genius all as individuals. As a group, they transcended. Amazing stuff they put together. You should check out the studio versions of these songs BEFORE you listen to the live versions, you'll have a real appreciation of their ability to move things in different directions. This one is one of my favorite live versions of any song from any artist, though.

The studio version, or even any earlier live versions from BEFORE the "unplugged" era is epic, but I really would suggest you go back and hear their original version, which is Electric ROCK not, unplugged rock. Pick just about anything off their Hotel California, The Long Run or Greatest Hits albums and you can't go wrong.

That song was their masterpiece. No matter how you slice it you can't go wrong listening to the Eagles. The next song you should listen to is Desperado by the Eagles. I guarantee you're going to love that cut.

As I was telling you in your One Of These Nights reaction, listening to the studio is always recommended as a FIRST listen because you need to understand the band ... how they sound, did they alter the way the song is played or sung when they did it live, etc. Now, you were fortunate, because they ARE an excellent live band as well as in the studio, but that is not always the case. However, even here, they are doing an alternate version, and as this was a time when "unplugged" versions were becoming all the rage.
Now, fortunately again for you, this version kicks butt but, this group has had a number of lineup changes, and in many of the later ones, the original guitarists have left so, even when they are doing the older version, they don't sound identical live as in the studio, and in fact, they aren't quite as good, though only slightly so.
What this means is, you STILL NEED to go back and listen to the studio version to understand their arc. You also need to understand, always going for the live performance is like finishing having sex in 2 minutes. Sure, it feels great, but your woman is not going to be happy, and you'll get a LOT less sex. Here, if you always go for the live versions, then you have eliminated half of the great experiences you COULD have had, and missed out on a LOT of pleasure you skipped right over.
It's like the story of the 2 bulls ... an old bull and a young one are standing on top of a hill, looking down at the heifers down below them, and the young bull says, "Hey, let's run down and f*ck 1 of them heifers", and the old bull says, "Let's WALK down and F*CK 'em ALL !!!". You need to slow down and take your time. If you do that, you'll find a lot more gems on your journey and a lot more appreciation of the groups you're trying to experience.
I hope this makes sense to you, because music is awesome.

Although this is an amazing version… you should listen to them performing this song live at their induction to the rock and roll hall of fame cira 1997 I believe. Then listen to the studio version.. they are identical. Hard to do but just another day in the life if you’re the EAGLES.
This is a very cool version, but the guitar solos/dueling with electric guitars will hug your brain.

This song was about the drug use in the 60’s -70’s. Got to love them.
Felder was the best musician in the band. He not only came up with the original guitar parts but he came up with this acoustical version. He smokes Joe on guitar.
You really need to check out the original version ( live '68?) It's even better than this one!
