This is the true gap of our Maids. The gap between how hard they rock, and how delecate and elegant they are. About Us is beyond special, it is a perfect love song.

However, one of the important things that support them is definitely you, a large number of overseas fans. I am always grateful for your help. Thank you for your warmth.
Here’s a super fan (t-shinji) translation of Saiki’s heartfelt monologue / speech before this song was performed that day: Saiki: We were supposed to meet you today. For the first time in a year, we thought we could meet you all, those of you who could come to see us, but we can’t meet you in the end. I’m sorry. Even though it’s not my fault. We have been having days of turmoil for about a year. In the beginning, we were very surprised because we hadn’t experienced it before, and we had no experience of not being able to meet others in person. We were sad, but we found we shouldn’t be sad in this situation. When I saw you masters and princesses on social media, you were more depressed than us, and we thought that’s terrible. We Band-Maid have been thinking about how to cheer up all of you in the last one year. We truly wanted to meet you at Nippon Budokan, but it’s impossible because of COVID, so let’s wait for the day when we can meet. And in the last one year… or in the COVID pandemic, we have become more eager to cheer you up, and we Band-Maid realized again it’s important to give our songs to you. That’s why we wrote this song for Budokan. We made the album also in the pandemic, so it might have a little similar feel, but this song is planned for Nippon Budokan, and we really want to give it to you masters and princesses now. Budokan is not our goal but just a stepping stone. We will perform at bigger venues, and we promise we will bring you there and give you even better songs, so let’s keep it up a little more. This is our present for you masters and princesses. Please listen to it.
And who said this is a simple song? Can you hear those heavenly and endearing bass lines by MISA? Can you hear Akane's humbling but precisingly intricate drum fills? Can you hear Kanami's emotional guitar licks throughout the song? Can you hear Miku's on-point and beloved harmonizing back-up vocals? Can you hear the sentimental and nostaglic melody of Saiki's eargasmic vocals? Thank you BAND-MAID. Just that, appreciating for your effforts in these unfortunate predicaments.
It all just meshes flawlessly together. You really get to appreciate their musicality and how well they all perform together to meld into beautiful sound.
Of course. Japanese bass way of thinking and its sound in the mix is one of the reason why I fell in love j-rock/j-pop After that western music nowadays seems totally boring mostly
The lyrics she wrote are really good. I know someone has translated their songs and their newer stuff has captions on it, but if only people would learn a little Japanese, maybe a day or two of anime episodes a year (just for fun and kill time) won't make you fluent in understanding this language but you can understand a few words or one/two sentences from its original language where there is a difference in meaning from the translation. That's why her lyrics are considered poetic by Japanese.
I do not understand. It is the user who chooses the music. The world chose Korean music over Japanese music. The world loves KPOP more than Japanese music. Isn't that the simple reason?
Thank you for writing this song for us, and thank you for helping us get through the tough times. Much love to all of you.
i remember some dud on one of the fanpages dismissing this track as pop trash... and I was like, bro, get your ears tuned up. The layers of music in this? Misa's bass line? Hopefully someday he'll mature enough to appreciate things besides "hard rock". Masterpiece song.
I just recently discovered Band-Maid and was instantly a fan. However, this song has taken me to another level. In January of 2022, I lost both of my parents to Covid. It has been a long and painful year, to say the least. I have listened to this song several times now and am moved to tears every time I hear it. It brings back wonderful memories of my parents and the love they had for us. This song reaches deep into my soul and touches me! I want to express my sincere gratitude to all five of these tremendously talented ladies. I hope I get a chance to at least see them play some day in person. Thank you.
This song is so beautiful. My dad passed away the day it was released and I listened to it all day. It not only helped me release my dad but also lifted me back up. Thank you band maid, you are all wonderful ladies. Keep doing what you love.
We have all suffered from something in this world. Some people have suffered more than others. My heart goes out to all the suffering people in this world. God Bless all of you
Right now the world is in big trouble due to the coronavirus, so I hope that we can return to normal life, even if it's only a day sooner.
One of many classy things about Band-Maid guitarist Kanami is the respect she pays her fellow musicians, alive or departed. When Mikio Fujioka, lead guitarist of Babymetal's Kami Band died, Kanami tweeted (on her Band-Maid account Jan 10, 2018, translating from the Japanese): "Kind-hearted, cute-smiling Mr. Fujioka, I was able to say a final good-bye to you. [Presumably Kanami attended Mikio's funeral.] I will never forget you. As poor a guitarist as I am, allow me to keep you in my mind while I am playing. Thank you for the greatest music. I pray for your soul." When Eddie van Halen died, Kanami retweeted Wolf van Halen's post about his dad and tweeted herself (Oct 7, 2020, translating): "Mr. Eddie van Halen, I learned about tapping from your solo 'Eruption', and I hoped that one day I could produce the same sort of heart-piercing phrases that you played. My guitar hero, may you rest in peace. I pray for your soul." When jazz-fusion pianist Chick Corea died, Kanami tweeted (Feb 12, 2021): "Today I am going to have some coffee and listen to Mr. Chick Corea. He soothes my soul. May he rest in peace." Thought you’d like to know more about Kanami the person.
I never knew about this.. thank you so much for this kind information.. for me, Kanami is one of my guitar hero.. her personality also are an example for me to follow.. 🥺🥺
"About Us" and "Memorable" are the most touching songs ever written by a band for their fans. Those two songs show just how much love and respect Band-Maid has for those of us who are devoted to them. No other band comes close.
This is one big love song to the world! A heart that's been broken and wounded by the destruction of everything is healed by kindness. Maybe these girls have the soul of a true maid.
It is. "the flowers will bloom again" The future in "this emerald world" and Saiki singing "I will light your world up with my voice" The band offers us their hand to walk through the haze of this covid enforced gloom towards a brighter day. It is a masterpiece of a song and they are a masterpiece of a band.
@@bartyslattfast Yes, that's right. The powerful and clear voice of Saiki and Miku will guide you. Until the day you overcome your difficulties, good luck!
@@人参椅子 thank you and may you pass through these hard times as well. If anything good comes out of covid I hope it is that we all start seeing others as humans.
"About Us" is really so much more better live just like pretty much every song by BAND-MAID. This song shows how much versatile the band really is. If you haven't explore BAND-MAID's whole discography you're missing out on a lot. The lyrics feels really authentic as well.
So true! The whole discography, all of the songs, from "Be OK" to "Black Hole" it's like eating a delicious cake and ask for seconds... can't get enough of them... then you ear them live and well... I just feel like looking straight at Miku's eyes, raise my thumb and say "What a great idea, putting this people together!"
Not to mention, their discography only spans about eight years, yet it's all excellent (genuinely no bad songs), and they have more content then the majority of bands have in their entire careers. Including only unique tracks, BAND-MAID has released over 90 songs! If we include tracks like the 89 seconds version of "Different," than I think that number is nearly 100. And again, this is all in the span of about 8 years!
@@andrewhoffman1087 I've been saying this for a while. Their output is just insanity. They have put out more music than a lot of bands put out in their entire career.
@@andrewhoffman1087 Actually, I got 107 songs so far... if we take the 6 different versions of Band-Maiko and just count "Gion-Cho" as an original, that makes it to 101 - without the 89 seconds version of Different. But like you say, there are no "fillers"... 100 awesome treasures! Oh, I'm not counting the acoustic versions either, just sticking to official CD & CD Singles releases BTW... 😅
Only 8,000 views left to get this video to a million views. We've got 56 days left in 2023. If we can get at least 143 views per day, we can finally hit a million by the end of the year. Lets do it!
from japan I thought about why band-made music is popular with listeners all over the world. (1) Maid clothes look strange at first glance, but they don't feel dirty or frightening like other hard rock and metal bands, so on the contrary, they feel conservative. (2) Everyone admits that the playing ability is wonderful, but the timing and ensemble are particularly excellent, so it feels good to listen to. Especially the rhythm section of Akane and Misa is transcendent. It gets better when Kanami gets involved there. (3) The variety of Kanami's riffs and the solos are not just about playing fast, but also about the melody, so it makes you feel more comfortable listening to them. (4) The individuality of the members is diverse, but when playing, they are mixed well and a sense of unity is felt. (5) Saiki's slightly crunchy singing voice, which has a different image from her beauty, fits well with her song. (6) There are almost no similar songs, and various rhythms and riffs appear one after another in one song, so never get tired of listening to it. On top of that, I feel that the most attractive thing is that the sincere attitude and feelings towards music and fans are conveyed straightforwardly.
You did a very good job of describing many of my feelings. They make me happy when I listen. I feel more hopeful and calm even when I listen to their harder songs and it is the "harmony" or sense of rightness that come from them; that they really are friends and want people to be made happy by their music.
I've discovered Band-Maid in January, just after being infected by this shitty virus. I'm totally addicted to their music now. The five rock goddesses have helped me to fight the desease, bringing me the psychological support I needed during this tough time. Band-Maid, your music is a blessing ! Thank you for being what you are, thank you for your commitment and the love you send to your fans, I hope to see all of you for a gig in France ! Stay safe !
Thanks Kevin ! The first symptoms have appeared on the 19th of December and I'm just starting to feel better now : 2 months of purgatory. I'm happy to say that I'm still there, and I feel lucky. This virus sucks, really ! Stay safe !
Not too dissimilar. Discovered them in Dec 2019, by total accident. Got Covid March 2020, and the lockdown. Had listend but casually before. After, while dealing with Long Covid, they became a refuge. Can't believe how serious some of their lyrics are when every song gives me such uplifting and positive vibes.
I could see the real emotion in her face from the start of this song; she truly seems to love performing live and misses the feedback from the crowd. At times watching this I just wanted to give them a hug and say "we will be O.K. & part of why we will is because of your music" This song made me think about the other people in my life I miss during this pandemic and reach out to virtually hug them; it is a beautiful gift from Band Maid.
Congratulations to Band-Maid with 1M views on "about us". "about us" is a wonderful lovesong to us, Masters and Princesses. I saw Band-Maid play "about us" live at Tokyo Garden Theater. This old rocker got tears in his eyes from the beauty of this song. Band-Maid love their fans, and we love them back just as much.
Only tears in you eyes? Not all the way down your face? They have only played this live 8 times. TGT and Yokohama were the only 2 times in 2023, out of 42 shows. They played it four shows in 2022, in Japan, before the USA tour. At these shows the fans were not allowed to cheer, only clap. But they were not prohibited from crying. The other two times it was performed were live with no audience, in 2021, this being the first performance. It is haunting, knowing the backstory, the words take on a a depth unimaginable when first conceived. This song is beyond special. It is a perfect love song. This is the true gap of our Maids. The gap between how hard they rock, and how delecate and elegant they are.

Kanami、Misa、Akane

I just recently discovered Band-Maid and was instantly a fan. However, this song has taken me to another level. In January of 2022, I lost both of my parents to Covid. It has been a long and painful year, to say the least. I have listened to this song several times now and am moved to tears every time I hear it. It brings back wonderful memories of my parents and the love they had for us. This song reaches deep into my soul and touches me! I want to express my sincere gratitude to all five of these tremendously talented ladies. I hope I get a chance to at least see them play some day in person. Thank you.
Condolences and this song was meant to comfort and heal. I hope it continues to do so for you and others.
So sad to hear about your loss...
And good that you find comfort in their music.
Sorry to hear you lost your parents. My condolences. I lost my brother and mom back in 2022, I know how you feel.
I miss my family too. We are capable of making it through the loss, I promise. Stay strong!

This song is so beautiful. My dad passed away the day it was released and I listened to it all day. It not only helped me release my dad but also lifted me back up. Thank you band maid, you are all wonderful ladies. Keep doing what you love.

Right now the world is in big trouble due to the coronavirus, so I hope that we can return to normal life, even if it's only a day sooner.
misa going absolutely crazy on that bass
Thank you. They all seem to be genuine, thoughtful people.
They all look really humble. It matches the proverb "The heavier the head of rice, the deeper it bows.'

How come I can't give it more likes? One like is not enough!
@@mickyart RIGHT! BAND-MAIKO counts to. Thumbs up for calling out my brain lapse

Miku's backing vocals gives me chills (in a heavenly way) ;u ;
Miku is simply amazing...
from japan I thought about why band-made music is popular with listeners all over the world.
On top of that, I feel that the most attractive thing is that the sincere attitude and feelings towards music and fans are conveyed straightforwardly.
i am agreed
You did a very good job of describing many of my feelings. They make me happy when I listen. I feel more hopeful and calm even when I listen to their harder songs and it is the "harmony" or sense of rightness that come from them; that they really are friends and want people to be made happy by their music.
@@bartyslattfast thanks!! I totally agree with you.
If you scroll down the comments, I wrote them a song as a response back to About us, I'm no where near their talent but it was from my heart.
It's the music.
Stay safe !
Hope you are feeling better!!!....All the best
Thanks Kevin ! The first symptoms have appeared on the 19th of December and I'm just starting to feel better now : 2 months of purgatory. I'm happy to say that I'm still there, and I feel lucky. This virus sucks, really ! Stay safe !

Not too dissimilar. Discovered them in Dec 2019, by total accident. Got Covid March 2020, and the lockdown. Had listend but casually before. After, while dealing with Long Covid, they became a refuge. Can't believe how serious some of their lyrics are when every song gives me such uplifting and positive vibes.

When saiki started screaming "criiieeess ..." i started crying too
I could see the real emotion in her face from the start of this song; she truly seems to love performing live and misses the feedback from the crowd. At times watching this I just wanted to give them a hug and say "we will be O.K. & part of why we will is because of your music" This song made me think about the other people in my life I miss during this pandemic and reach out to virtually hug them; it is a beautiful gift from Band Maid.
agree, the pandemic changes everything. they have to postpone their first 'big dream' live at prestige venue Budokan (and who knows how long)
This Song should come with a " Raw Onions " warning on the label... Saiki's voice just gets more Beautiful..
@@TwinTailSteve I didn't cry, but tears were coming out, had to dry my eyes with my hand 🙂Endless story from Yokohama made me actually cry when I say it the first time, and teary every time since.
