If I HAD to choose a con it would be that they can slip through every little nook. I’ve had to full blown build a Great Wall of China around one of my sofas and desk because one of my buns kept slipping through the TINIEST crack 😂
However - another pro would be their poop is so clean. I had a dog before and cause of my OCD I had to give her back to the rescue because the poo was too much to deal with. There’s a risk of disease and also worms. Bunnies poop is so clean and just condensed balls of hay it’s amazing! It’s the perfect thing for me having to deal with such tiny poops
Sorry I’ve just thought of ANOTHER PRO. This is very specific but basically I struggle with my mental health massively and have 3 disorders. I am also on an autism waiting list because my therapist thinks I have autism. He has allowed my bunnies to be my Emotional Support Pets due to the improvement they’ve given me with my mental health. They’re making me be so creative. I struggle with anger issues and I tend to react very badly to situations and lose my control. However my bunnies have changed me. I felt angry at my mum over the phone the other day and instead of letting it get worse my little Bunny Belle was just sat there giving me her beautiful cute face and I dashed over and she just gave me kisses and I felt so happy. The turn around was amazing and I haven’t been angry in ages because of it. I’ve tried alsorts but these little sweethearts are the true anger management. I’m finding I’m not arguing with people either and I’m being a lot friendlier to strangers. I can’t believe how much they’ve changed me I feel like they’re my babies and I love them so much ❤️
Hi Lorelei! I have a question. My brother has two bunnies that I see a lot. They are in a x pen right now. I want to free roam them in a room, but there are no doors and I’m not sure if we should get gates or no. What should I do? Thank you :)
Your bunny isn't a dog. The are prey, and at the bottom of the food chain. Which means you have to earn their love. You have to spend time with them, be patient, calm, sensitive, responsible, willing to take risks and educate yourself. After all that, and your bunny can feel comfortable and at peace around you. They'll be excited to see you, do as you say, and not run away from you At the of the day? Its worth it. You earned your bunny's love. It just takes patience.
I feel like one con is also that they can be super territorial! Also they're just very fragile... fragile GI system, very fragile skeletons, etc. Sadly one of our bunnies at the rescue fractured a couple of vertebrae recently; we still are not sure how exactly (suspect he was playing/binkying and something spooked him and he twisted a little harder than intended).
TY for mentioning, I've been wondering about that. My 5 mo old Holland lop knows when I'm about to put him open and he leaps and often gets away, only to land lopsided on the floor. I'll have to be conscious to lower him when nearing the destiny before he wiggles hops out of my hands. ... (Is gray bunny at 8:50 overweight? )
@@finallythere100 it could be overweight, but some bunnies develop that kinda "neck fat" (as I like to call it xD) despite not being overweight, sometimes after spaying/neutering as far as I know
Females grow delap for having babies. They pluck the hair to line their nests. Spayed at a young age stops the growth of it otherwise it grows after reaching sexual maturity. Bigger breed, bigger dewlap 😲 Having trouble putting your bunny to bed, ensure theres a reward in it for them. Give them a good reason to want to go 😉 🐇 Also, ensure you hold your bunny until they stop squirming before releasing them very clamly and slowly. They then learn they need to be calm to be let go. This saves a lot of accidents and injuries.
@@alisonmccain rabbit were bread for fur and meat mostly -- the bump is a holdout of that. Only very recently as they being bread specifically to be good "pets". Think domesticated silver foxes
my bunny Romeo actually LOVES to cuddle. he never wants to leave my side when i'm watching tv it's adorable. adopting him was the best decision i've ever made. my guardian angel. the cons are worth it.
pros: - you can talk to them and they actually understand you :) - they can flop right next to which is one of the best feelings - you can play together (me and my bunny love to run around the garden and he’ll bring some zoomies and binkies into it!)
Both of my rabbits smell SO good!! I don’t know why or how, they both smell super sweet and my father sometimes even asks if I did something or put perfume on them. ( No, I never would put perfume on them 😅🐰)
I can definitely attest to the loyalty part. When I was a kid, two of our rabbits, Louie and Willow, were effectively couple in our household. Their houses were right next to each other, their bowls were right next to each other, and they would always be laying down next to each other. When they passed, their ashes were mixed together and buried in front of a tree outside my bedroom.
My bunny got really sick 6 days ago the vet told us she was probably going to die she’s doing so so well atm I’m so happy and thankful that she’s going to continue to live her life :)
Learn from this video! Especially watching your rabbits. I went out for one night and came back to my eldest rabbit who hadn’t eaten his dinner(which is quite unusual for him), I just thought he didn’t like it. This one moment of “he just didn’t like it” turned into an emergency. He was rushed into the er that following night barely breathing and bloated. He spent 4 nights in the ICU. His stomach then became so gassed up that he need emergency abdominal surgery. He had a 5% chance of survival rate. His stomach was approximately 30-45minutes away from bursting when they opened him up. He somehow pulled though this and now is doing extremely well, unlike my bank account. What ended up happening was while I was gone he had chewed the carpet and swallowed a piece which blocked the exit of his stomach. Please always watch them eg with a camera, or have someone watch them. If u can’t then please bunny proof!! 💓
We just recently got a rabbit. She is adorable. But the one thing I wish I had done was buy things like the playpen, the carrier, bedding, appropriate flooring for playpen etc first over a period of months. Having all that expense in one month blew our budget right out the window. So I would suggest that anyone who wants a rabbit gets all that in place before getting the rabbit and it's food. She is an emotional support animal for our adult son and the change in him has been amazing. So, for us, having to eat hay this month is totally worth it.
Wow, you are so right. When getting my first kitten as an adult, I bought everything at once and was immediately broke lol. I think everything was over $500 not including vaccines, checkup, grooming. I’m slightly thinking about a bunny. We’ll see.
I see more pros rather than cons. They definitely have kept me more happy and seeing their reaction when you enter the room and binky... Such a great feeling. Love my bunny.
I got lucky with the cuddling part, my rabbit Rin let me hold him for an hour straight a few days ago. He even fell into a deep sleep and he would twitch every so often, I think he was dreaming. He likes to either cuddle up as close as possible to my leg, on my lap or in my arms. He's been like this literally since the day I got him.
My bunny Lola too. Her favorite spot is in my arms being carried around or on my lap. If I'm not holding her she's right next to me sleeping or playing with my ankles
My bunny use to let me hold him as he slept, but since he's older, he's less affectionate. He hops onto my bed and I wish I could allow him to sleep there, but he'll still have accidents.
Thank you for the starting this channel I got my rabbit in 2014 and I didn’t like her but now I wish I did over the years because she loved me so much and I never knew but I found this channel and now I love my rabbit thank you
They are the smartest animals I’ve witnessed so far, both of my rabbits have memorized my schedule to the point where they know when food is coming/ bedtime/ playtime. They even recognize what the weekends are and know mommy sleeps in so breakfast will be late! The pros definitely outweigh the cons💞💞💞
Once you get a bunny, the cons are nothing!! Mopsy is so low maintenance for me at this point as she just lives her daily life as a free roam in my room and just loves her life!
Not mine! Mine is a love but is like Evil Knieval but he is 4 months! He is superneedy and I have to watch him about 7 or 8 hours a day. Still every morning when he jumps 8nto my arms, my ❤ melts!
I have had three house-trained rabbits and found them to be intelligent, affectionate - and funny. It is amazing how their character flourishes when they are comfortable, free to roam, and have no fear of being eaten!
You really didn't miss anything. They become such an integral, and wonderful part of your life that (con) your heart breaks when they die. My bun died on January 25 - and I miss her intensely, every day. Especially in the mornings - no more bunneh 'wake-up' calls, no more nose bumps while making coffee. After 11 and a half years I feel very much alone and adrift without her.
Here's a con from my late rabbit (RIP, buddy): They might keep taking off vent covers. My bunny would keep removing the vent covers to use the vents as a blow dryer. A true Angora diva
Another pro for me is that my bunnies are wonderful de-stressors. After sitting with my little warren for a few minutes, the stress of the day just melts away. Even if I'm cleaning up after them, I find this pretty mindless task helps to free up my mind and is very calming. 💖
I've seen people make mini me on their rabbits. It's so cute with their fur. Looks excatly like them. I've also seen another person use it as stuffing in pillows or bedding for rabbits.
i just wanted to say THANK YOU for all your educational videos. i got my first bunny a few weeks ago and your channel has been a total life saver. i knew nothing about rabbit care before, but i started watching you about a week before i got my bun and i feel like i was so much more prepared. i had no idea free roaming was even a thing. Scout is in a playpen for now until he’s neutered and litter box trained, but he’s never locked in a cage. also i had already made arrangements with a breeder before i realized i should’ve gone to a shelter, but i plan on doing so whenever i decide to get another bun. my boy is still pretty timid around me but i’m working on bonding with him in the ways you’ve explained. i hope he and i are like you and lennon someday
Another great teaching video! Lorelei, you’re always tasteful, classy and you are a true asset for so many new or younger bunny owners who have the need for this education. So happy to see your subscriber numbers continually increasing. Give Lennon a hug from me.
I want you to know that my bun used to live in a cage with a corner litter box and hay rack. After I saw your bunny I free roamed her and she has a cat litter box filled with hay
Hey Lorelei, I LOVED this video! I would love to see a bonding video from you and perhaps, Vickie. I think it’s important as putting 2 random bunnies together isn’t easy
Or a video on what to do when bonded bunnies fight. My two buns had a falling out a couple years ago and I was a wreck about it. Had to do some serious digging to find any helpful advice. It took about six months of faithful, consistent work, but I eventually got them rebonded and now they are best buds and so sweet to watch together.
I’m bunny-sittting a bunny at the moment (a first for me) and - he’s adorable!! 💕💜 intelligent, personality, funny, interactive- I had no idea 🥰 awesome little animal/pet
When talking about loyalty I remembered a fun story when my friend was giving me a really harsh (but satisfying) massage that had me whimpering from time to time - my bun jumped on the bed and suddenly bit at my friend until she got off. I found it extremely cute a bun can be such a lil feisty protective thing.
I have other pets, that I love, but my house bunny, Willow, is special. He makes me laugh with his antics and big personality. I believe he lowers my blood pressure!!!! Yes, there are plenty of cons, but a well cared for and free roaming bunny is pure joy. Thank you for all of your videos. We love you and Lennon.
Thank you for this update. And, yes, a bunny is not for JUST anyone. They are considered exotic "pets", veterinary costs are a wake up call when any ailment comes along, and is heartbreaking.
Having had my heart broken by three hamsters that were gone FAR too soon, I concur that longevity is a “pro” for a Bun. Plus, there’s nothing like when your Bun stalks you for treats! They stare. Their little nose twitches. They run around you. Plus, it is 100% true that a pet rabbit looks like an Easter decoration all year round. The one downside, especially in 2022, is that between litter, lettuce, kale, raddicio, and toys, a Bun costs close to a car payment every month. You’ll get more mileage out of a rabbit. And like an exotic foreign car needs a specialist for repairs, a rabbit requires an exotic veterinarian.
Very through my buns are so spoiled and my youngest is getting spayed next week it’s costing around 140 it’s not to bad but when I got my other neutered it was only like 80 so it was a big of a shock but even though there expensive there worth it
And even an exotic event isn't everything it can be my rabbit needs a $3,000 surgery to fix a genetic problem that the vet doesn't even think he'll survive but they're worth every penny once you earn their trust and love there's nothing like I've owned dogs and cats but it's different rabbits are scared flighty animals so when you are in their trust it's the most gratifying thing in the world
@@aliciakelly3159 My 2yr-old Bun’s veterinary bill came to @$3K after a 2-day stay at the hospital (for gastric stasis brought on by an e.cunniculi flare-up). My Bun was OK, but required a follow-up of Panicure for 28 days. Trying to involuntarily syringe-medicate a boy Bun is like trying to catch a fur-covered rocket. My wife and I somehow managed, and we think our Bun has since forgiven us. I was willing to pay anything to get my Bun back in good health. Our Vet told us up-front what the expenses would be. This is one big factor potential rabbit owners must account for - Vet visits are expensive. The one mistake I made was not bringing my Bun to a Vet right after we bought him. Establishing a rabbit as a patient with a Vet is more complicated if their first visit is a crisis instead of a routine baseline check-up.
My bunny act and lives like a dog. Ofcourse he is free roaming. Always rushes over to me when I give my 2 Chihuahua's a treat. He gets a healthy treat aswell. So funny to see their 3 begging cute faces together! Sleeping on the sofa with his dog friends. Love him so much. Just 6 months since I've found him as a baby outside. But he is so smart and learned very quickly. ❤🙏🏻
Our rabbit is a chewaholic. She always has been, and it has been a real headache. We once rabbit proofed our whole house but she still managed to get behind the freezer and chew through the cable - $750 later we needed a new freezer. She has gone through several washing baskets over the years, we have tried every kind of material there is. And yes, we have tried every suggestion you have made, abundance of toys, wood scraps, etc. She gets plenty of hey. I think it just seems to be in her nature to chew. So we had to free roam her to just one room to keep the damage at bay - and that room has an almost destroyed carpet now in every corner! She gets plenty of attention from my son who is her official owner though - and is greatly loved by all of us. Except for the chewing she is the most adorable rabbit out there! Loving, kind, enjoyed being held (not being picked up though, but if she comes to you you can scoop her into your arms and she loves a long pet on the head or neck). She is snuggly and cuddly - and the bonus is, she never digs at anything - so I guess that is a good thing. Goes to show, each rabbit has it’s own pros and cons. Thanks for sharing these Lorolai (sorry spelling) - I too think it was all worth it, even though we have spent thousands having to replace stuff over the years. 🤣🐰
I just adopted three beautiful sisters. They are bonded and spayed, Tai-Lee is very outgoing, Mei is hiding from me and Azula is staying in the bunny room. I love them already even though i got then yesterday
Something i learned recently, when you adopt take them to the vet straight away regardless if the volunteers and fosters didn't mention a health problem, i adopted a male bunny that had recently been neutered by the volunteers so he had been to vet yet, they didn't disclose that they had amputated the fingers in his back legs and his front legs were still infected, so, for a whole month the poor thing was walking around with an infection and i was completely oblivious, i don't blame anyone but myself because i didn't notice, and also it's not their fault when they have so many rabbits they transport to families and rescue and foster abd take to vets it's hard to keep track of everything, so it's not their fault, i should have taken him straight away, and that's what i learned no matter the circumstances, when you get a bunny first thing you do is schedule a vet appointment.
It is their fault when they are so over run the care for the animals go down the spca does not actually disclose any information that will take away a animals chance of being adopted away usually if the animal is red labeled they will be to sleep
@Lennon the bunny You have to do more bunny makeover videos for people, They were so interesting and knowledgeable how you helped people give their rabbits a better life!
Bunnies have become my favorite pets , I’ve had both cats and dogs. They are just too cute and I can tell my bun loves me and gets so excited when I come home from work❤️
when i first got my rabbit in July of 2021 I knew nothing since nov I've been learning A LOT about them and just this week he started running up to me when i walk in the room he still isn't potty trained (I'm trying to convince my mom to neuter him because I love him so much ) BUT i am so happy that he now trust me with almost everything :)
I don't think fixing them is a good idea. My bun goes potty everywhere too but she's getting better. I got my bunn in July 2021 too. But she doesn't chew any cords tho.
my rabbit is neutered and he still has issues pottying! Me and my mom think hes neutered because when he was rescued a couple months ago, i gendered him and it was a boy, but saw no balls on the butt! And hes also extremly sweet, even my deneutered rabbit snowball wasnt this sweet. If i decide to get him a buddy, maybe a girl? ill have to wait and see for a few more years if hes actually neutered! I believe hes neutered. And so does my mom! He has big issues potty training so i cant free roam him. Its almost impossible to potty train peter even though he is doing better at it.
I'd like to share that my rabbit, Nolan, who I have mentioned in the comments on past videos has passed away on February 1st. We think he either had a seizure or was trying to stand up and was paralyzed. I don't know what cased it exactly, but I do thank you Lorelei for giving me tips and tricks on how to raise him properly before getting him and even after getting him. If I could eventually bring myself to own another rabbit (which I don't think I could. He was my one and only) I would always remember what you taught me. But for now, I think I want a Guinea Pig, but I'll never stop watching you because you and Lennon are entertaining.
I just love your videos as your videos helps me in my daily life how to take care of a bunny. So much love to lennon and you ❤ My bunny loves me back... When I return home from somewhere she runs towards me and shows me how much she loves me... She likes head massage so much and love to be petted. And yes she is destructive too and that's why I bought some toys for her and some toys are made by me 🤍
My bunny is only 2 and will turn 3 in April 9th. I love Shadow so much and I couldn't imagine a world without him! He also loves cuddling and being held which I find adorable.
0:33 I used to have a beautiful American Sable Rabbit who used to circle my feet, he would slow down and thump the floor and go around my feet a bit faster. He did it exactly like that every time. Very loving rabbit. He was my little baby boy, and he knew it.
I think one con is that they have trouble with extreme temperatures so you may have to go out of your way more than for a dog or cat (pets who can sweat and pant) to keep them warm or cool.
I have taken in, and am fostering two bonded rabbits because the alternative for their mom (a very close friend) was to surrender them to a shelter and neither of us could bear the thought of that. Though they are cute as hell and delightful, I'm a clean freak and I've discovered that the large room I'm housing them in (they are free range) is completely engulfed in fur which is so silky fine, it's like filament. It's almost airborne. AND, the room is crazy dusty. The dust is fine also, almost like talcum powder. I don't know whether it is from the timothy hay, the bedding/litter, or from the bunnies, themselves, but I have never seen such a quick buildup of dust. Within two weeks they chewed up my sewing desk, started on lamp cords, my baseboards, burrowed through the couch, chewed up the bottom and back of it, and started chewing on the window sill, even though I have provided apple sticks, maple tree branches from the woods, cardboard boxes, egg cartons, toys made from jute twine, etc. I did do my due diligence and educated myself (still am, as I'm going along) as to what was involved and expected with having pet rabbits, but was still shocked to learn just how destructive and industrious they can be. You really need to emphasize these "cons" and not down play them because rabbits are the most surrendered, neglected and mistreated among pets and people really need to know what to expect before they commit to a pet rabbit. This is why the shelters are overflowing with surrendered rabbits. It's heartbreaking. Yes, watching all these super cute rabbits on Instagram, UA-cam, etc., is emotionally gratifying but you really, really need to emphasize ALL aspects of rabbit ownership, and not whitewash the downsides.
I am on the fence if I will keep this bunny girl I rescued. She has been in my spare bedroom for about 3 months now. I have learned a lot about rabbits, and I appreciate your videos. The pros: She is pretty darn cute & has her own personality. I like she is a vegetarian, she encourages me to eat more salads. I like she is peaceful & not crazy or demanding. Because I have a cat, I tend to shut Zoomers in her own room so she doesn’t feel afraid, but then she is isolated from me & everyone. And I don’t have her bathroom situation dialed in, so that is an unfortunate mess. She is sweet. Thank you.
I love your videos you taught me how to take proper care of my bunnies if it wasn’t for you they would be living in a hutch outside they have a much better life now thank you 😊 and do you think rabbits can go outside if you have a deck that is very large and enclosed so they can free roam under supervision
Maybe a rug for traction would be better for them, but the fact that it’s enclosed and under supervision is good. Just don’t take them out if it’s hotter than 70 degrees fahrenheit or they can get sick
I love animals soo much but I do get scared by dogs and cats from time to time because they bite and scratch, bunnies are the only animals that I am not afraid to cuddle and hug and, my bunny Leo is always there for me, he shows me that whatever happens, the world won’t end, you have to keep living! When I’m touched by the love of my bunnies, it’s like my heart was rebuilt by their tiny paws!
The only cons for me is that they're quite delicate health wise and also looooove cords and remote buttons 😂but also no pet is perfect. I grew up with cats and dogs and they've got their flaws too. Love your channel so much!!!
My previous buns GI system was extremely sensitive and she got into GI stasis at least twice a year no matter the high quality diet she was on. It was stressful but I would do it all over again for the love this little bun gave me. I’ll always pick a bunny over any other pet.
I have 3 bunnies my male is 6 his girlfriend is 5 and there son is 5 months old. There are amazing, they have anything personalities. They are funny & so smart. There love and trust means the world to me ❤️
I wanted a emotional support animal and knew a dog wasn’t for me. I researched researched and researched multiple different animals and bunnies were for me. I will have had her for a year & March 🥰💙 I love my bunny 🐰
I got a young Flemish giant rabbit a few weeks ago. She just started coming up to me and sniffing me and wandering around the house more freely. Last night I watched her flop over onto her side in the middle of the living room and it’s awesome
Thank you for another great video Lorelei! I got home from a busy day of work and I was so happy to see you uploaded a video ^_^ I agree the pros outweigh the cons, despite the struggles that I had with my little guy ( territorial spraying, biting, scratching, chewing 4 of my chargers and shoes) I would do it all over again ❤
I had a few dogs when I was younger, but I can tell you none of them loved me the way my bunny does. It's true bunnies don't like to be cuddle for long periods of time and my bunny is no exception. But he loves some alone time with me, he follows me around the house, he comes to me whenever he hears my voice and he is always where I am. He is my cute little angel and I love him!
just so you know: what might seem cute could be a sign he is lonely in case you have only one rabbit. They crave attention and try to get it from humans if they can't get it from a proper partner. If you want, I can link you a source :)
If you are a true pro who’s ready for a rabbit and also ready to commit to them then you will love and adore your bunny either way wether that being pros or cons… you will be ready to take on that commitment and responsibilities
Whenever I watch bunny videos I get the feeling my bun bun is so weird ehehe… she doesn’t show love by grooming you, she shows love by allowing you to kiss her and pet her like the privilege that it is. And she actually likes to cuddle as long as it is in a way where she has a way out if she wants to. That way she won’t feel trapped. Besides that she is not quiet at all, whenever she is not sleeping she spends her day chewing the cardboard boxes she has. Basically I live with the most adorable diva ahahha
For me, a pro is that the poops can be used as fertilizer in the garden. A con is that multiple bunnies can be difficult to bond. Some of my bunnies are not bonded and therefore they all tend to pee on the floor...
They are extremely good at hiding pain and illness and usually by the time you get to the vet it’s usually already too late. When they die it absolutely destroys you and you NEVER EVER get over it…you just get used to it.
Rabbits are definitely overlooked when it comes to the list of difficult pets. I have an angora so the shedding is just endless and both of mine love to destroy anything and everything in their paths. I wouldn’t change a thing though. One of mine is far more bonded to me than the other and he is literally my best friend. I can’t go anywhere without him being beneath my feet and wanting pets.
In addition, Bucks like to honk and nip when they find particular attraction. Doe's scratch, chew, and tare many fabrics to build phantom nests. Also, If you suffer allergies to plants or pollen dander, the rabbit and or horse may not be a suitable companion.... and not the slightest or least, there's a lot of poop droppings and requires significant training to build proper litter habits.
Each bun is different when it comes to training. Some require a lot of time, some only a bit. And the aggressive or mating behaviors generally greatly decrease if the bun is fixed.
Of course rabbits don't chew fabrics!! It's called training. Did you just say, Dogs bark all the time and pee all over the carpet, oh well! Wouldn't neutering stop the agressive behavior in the males?
yess thank u, i know to many people who this owning an bunny is this wonderfully easy thing thag theyre just little dumb creatures that cuddle u all the time, when in actuality it can be really difficult to own a bunny don’t get me wrong owning a bun is amazing there so intelligent and loving and adorable but it hard work to keep up with them u really gotta put in the work. and when people don’t know that they get bunnies and give them the wrong food and home and attention
You are right about the vet bills I have had 4 rabbits now & they have cost a fortune (but maybe not as much as Lennon) Now I have had Jefferson for years & he is old & incontinent also his back legs don't work well. So has to have his rear end washed & blow dried every couple of days. He still loves his treat piece of carrot though so he will be around till he losses interest in food.
I think you’re wonderful for sharing information to the public about these beautiful creatures. Rabbits are simply the best pet in the world ! You left out one on your list it would be Rabbits are really funny ! These guys are hilarious. Reader’s Digest said laughter is the best medicine and when it comes to Bunnies they really are 😊very funny ❤🐰
I'm going to miss watching your videos when my older sister moves out with our rabbits, my mum disagreed with getting me my own rabbit which means I won't have another rabbit till I buy my own house. Your videos are amazing though! I hope people understand rabbits a bit more after finding your channel.
One con to add, is that they can sometimes kick their soft poos, especially when they're older an less agile to eat direct from the bum, or they've accidentally stood in some. Poo splats on the wall and furniture are common, we've even had one on the ceiling such is the power of bunny feet! Worth adding that this stuff is often leaves marks on the carpet, so a solid floor, or lots of carpet cleaner is essential!
Biggest con is the destructive aspect for sure. I have lost so many chargers since adopting my bunny, but then he looks at me with that twitching nose or circles around my feet and all is forgotten 🥰
Bunnies might be good pets for you if you could imagine just sitting or lying down next to them, maybe doing something calm that doesn’t involve many big/sudden noises or movements, such as reading or knitting or sth, and watching them go about their business. It’s pretty calming. Eventually they will get curious and approach you, but it at first takes time for them to build that trust. Eventually they will come and start snuggling up to your leg when you’re standing somewhere and stuff. They don’t like to get picked up, are very shy and you have to engage with them on their terms. If you want to pick up and cuddle your bunny a lot, it might not be the right pet for you / be like what you imagined. Bunnies do love being pet without being picked up (especially forehead rubs. They love forehead rubs so much). Generally I’d say bunnies are a good pet for calm people, who have no problem with having to put in a lot of work regularly to clean up and stuff, perhaps people who have fun being a little creative and making their bunny new stuff to play with and destroy. People who like things to be quiet and relaxing and who are okay with giving their bunny space when they want it, for whom it is very enjoyable to watch the mischief they come up with (or just seeing them do less exciting stuff like eating or sleeping… cutely). People who want to cuddle (especially pick up) their pet all the time probably won’t be happy with bunnies, or people who want to have lots of noise and excitement (so things that startle the bunnies). A bun parent should respect their bunnies boundaries and be interested in slowly winning the trust of a very shy animal, a deep bond that takes time (but is ultimately imo extra rewarding because of this)
Other con is that they can easily scratch and bite you. It also can be messy dealing with poop and urine that can be anywhere. Their food and equipment cost a lot. Another pro is they can be in their play pen for as long as it's necessary without them complaining because they like having their privacy. I think the pros are that precious that I have loved bannys.
One Con that I find difficult is the trimming of the bunny nails! Especially since I live by myself and dont have anyone to help me! I usually have to take a 40 min trip to my exotic vet for help with nail trimming.
I can relate. My 4 monthwr dwarf has a spot (hopefully he stepped on poo) under his foot. Although he trusts me (I can tell by his sleeping position), when I tried to take it off his foot, he jerks his foot away. I may have to take him to get it taken off his hind paw. And yes it is worth having someone cut his nails 4 ya!
I have two house rabbits, just over five years old now, lucky in the Uk I have a really good vet and a pet plan so my girls get treated like princesses, they have more manicures than i do 😂😂 they are so loyal are are always pleased to see me, I am at the bottom of the food chain in our house because they are divas if the don’t get their breakfast first 😂😂😂 love it 💕💕💕
What are some PROS or CONS that we missed? Comment below!
Hmmmm… let me watch the video probably
And can be shocked at the appearance or sound of a dog
“Do as you say” idk mine loves staring at me while I try to call her. 🤣
hi dork

Bigger breed, bigger dewlap 😲
Having trouble putting your bunny to bed, ensure theres a reward in it for them. Give them a good reason to want to go 😉 🐇
Also, ensure you hold your bunny until they stop squirming before releasing them very clamly and slowly.
Do you know what kind of bunny he is? I am thinking about getting one
pros:
- you can talk to them and they actually understand you :)
- they can flop right next to which is one of the best feelings
- you can play together (me and my bunny love to run around the garden and he’ll bring some zoomies and binkies into it!)
I love the sound of the flops on the bed lol
I\my bun binki loves cuddles and good
Both of my rabbits smell SO good!! I don’t know why or how, they both smell super sweet and my father sometimes even asks if I did something or put perfume on them. ( No, I never would put perfume on them 😅🐰)
Lucky. My dad complains about their smell lol
That's true, my old rabbit also smells good.
@@PeacockFRaccoon then u feed him bad stuff according to Lorelei

@@difeichen They eat what rabbits are supposed to eat
Didn’t know that about the cuddles… mine will sit with me for hours 🥰
My old rabbit also do that
Rabbits all have different personalities. Some love to sit with you and have some cuddles, others, not so much.
God bless you both. ❤️
💓
Omg...that must have been so terrifying for you. I'm so glad he survived.
I had a big white rabbit who ate ALL the carpet (and foam backing) under my bed before we noticed. She was always perfectly fine. I was very lucky!
@@lazyhomebody1356 goshh yeah, bunnies eating all kinds of carpets is a big problem :/
🤣
Lucky you! Very few allow you to cuddle long periods of time and a few can get aggressive when cuddled.
Same with my Luna 🥰
@@jennyfelix9921one pro could be for it to make a nice nutritious meal
My bunny Lola too. Her favorite spot is in my arms being carried around or on my lap. If I'm not holding her she's right next to me sleeping or playing with my ankles
My bunny use to let me hold him as he slept, but since he's older, he's less affectionate. He hops onto my bed and I wish I could allow him to sleep there, but he'll still have accidents.
Thank you for the starting this channel I got my rabbit in 2014 and I didn’t like her but now I wish I did over the years because she loved me so much and I never knew but I found this channel and now I love my rabbit thank you

@@ReptilianTeaDrinker she or he meant the rabbit

Do you have to train a rabbit to use a litter box or are they like cats, they just kinda know or learn really fast?
You really didn't miss anything. They become such an integral, and wonderful part of your life that (con) your heart breaks when they die. My bun died on January 25 - and I miss her intensely, every day. Especially in the mornings - no more bunneh 'wake-up' calls, no more nose bumps while making coffee. After 11 and a half years I feel very much alone and adrift without her.
You obviously need a bunny in your life! Give it some more time. Someday you can give another rabbit a great life
Here's a con from my late rabbit (RIP, buddy): They might keep taking off vent covers.
Id love to see a video about what their fur is used for, that's a new one for me
I've seen people make mini me on their rabbits. It's so cute with their fur. Looks excatly like them. I've also seen another person use it as stuffing in pillows or bedding for rabbits.
I once knew a lady who spun her Angora's fur into yarn and made cute trinkets!
@@littlekitsune1 I've seen this!! I sww a video of a lady lightly pulling the old fur out and spinning it on a spindle
You can compost it or throw it in your yard. Birds and other animals use it to line their nest :)
Can you please do a video on how to train your rabbit to do/ not do certain things? It would be so helpful!
i just wanted to say THANK YOU for all your educational videos. i got my first bunny a few weeks ago and your channel has been a total life saver. i knew nothing about rabbit care before, but i started watching you about a week before i got my bun and i feel like i was so much more prepared. i had no idea free roaming was even a thing.

Its really hard

My bunny gets so excited to see me, it makes me glad that I've done something right. I have made some mistakes but I've learnt from them.
@@AgentM79 How is it easier if they have a baseline checkup?
Dam I got lucky that my exotic vet isn’t that expensive my buns haven’t had gi yet luckily but I’m prepared for when they do I think
My bunny is the best pet ever! She gives so much love to us, always looking for pets and giving kisses. So glad we have her.
I got a two bunnies. I was going good at first. Know it’s pretty hard. But it’s just special. Their love is just irreplaceable

Outstanding video! This should be viewed by all people who are contemplating getting a pet rabbit!

I don't think fixing them is a good idea. My bun goes potty everywhere too but she's getting better. I got my bunn in July 2021 too. But she doesn't chew any cords tho.
I got my rabbits in July 2019 too!
my rabbit is neutered and he still has issues pottying!

Is that an Angora?
It's the fur is why I ask.
And they shouldn't nibble the treated wood of course
If you can provide a 100% safe area, letting them outside is absolutely great for them! It tickles their natural instincts and is healthy :)
The wood is untreated and the deck 100% fully enclosed so i think they can go outside : )

Now that I have a bunny I will always have one they are such amazing animals and I wouldn’t trade the bond me and my bun have for the world♥️
If you are a true pro who’s ready for a rabbit and also ready to commit to them then you will love and adore your bunny either way wether that being pros or cons… you will be ready to take on that commitment and responsibilities
Pros: they serve as your alarm clock that jump to your bed and wake you up so you won't oversleep in the morning.
😍updated! love it!
For me, a pro is that the poops can be used as fertilizer in the garden. A con is that multiple bunnies can be difficult to bond. Some of my bunnies are not bonded and therefore they all tend to pee on the floor...
Absolutely true👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻My mum grows nice bell peppers and roses on our bunny’s poops)). We love it))👍🏻👍🏻😁😁
@@snezhanafedenko8584 I've heard it is one of the best fertilizers.
@@mariskavandasselaarofficial Correct👍🏻👍🏻And free))
Cannot let be without rabbit 🐇 ❤️ there are no cons
I hope you and Lennon are doing well. You guys rock. ❤
The Pros ABSOLUTELY outweigh the Cons. I wouldn't give up my bunnies for the "finest" man. 😊
Ha ha I hear you girl! I've kicked my husband out of the bedroom in favour of my bunny boy Artemis who doesn't snore and is super cute 🥰
I totally agree! The love from a rabbit is very special and rules all!
Not really.
You left out one of the cutest things is their feisty tantrum by stomped their foot. Lol So cute.
Aww my Bunny is everything to me thank you for this Chanel so I know more about bunny’s
I can’t find boarding for my bun cuz I know he’ll destroy my friend’s house 😂 and I can’t replace that (carpet, baseboards, furniture)
My hubby is allergic to alot of fur. Especially cats. But he is a cat lover.. so we have a cat. But he isn't allergic to bunny fur... so weird..
Bro, I just found this channel and I've had my bunny for 2 years now and his name is lenny😂 what a good name for a bunny!
Your content is amazing! When I get a bunny I will know exactly how to take care of it.
You could cut down on the lettuce. They are getting too much water!
I have two bunnies. And it's worth all the cons. I love them more than myself. ❤️
I love your videos it helped so much my rabbits!
What about in a garage?
