I've felt that the guts, pride and hard work this team put in to maintain a 500 won lost record as they waited for injured team members to return would pay off now with players coming back its bolstered this offense and they are cooking and still have Casas and Grissom yet to come back. Congrats to the coaches change to hitting on a more one to one basis. Sure pump us Red Sox fans up with pride at the way this team has played. I am amazed at how they have taken all the injuries, put in so many different players in so many different positions, and kept the team around or above 0.500. Now they are in the Wild Card hunt. Can’t wait to get Abreu back, and hopefully Casas before too long (Grissom has been a bust all year, so I am not expecting anything from him this year). If they can keep on pitching the way they have all year, watch out!

Their success should continue against these sub-500 teams, so their numbers should improve. Abreu is tearing the cover off the ball in AAA, and we will see him back in the lineup soon. That should result in O'Neil and Rufschnider getting so regular rest.

I think it depends on why they weren't doing as well before. If it's just because they had so many injuries, their success depends on not having so many health problems the rest of the season. If it's because they were young and are now learning, they should only get better and better. My guess is it's some of both. But then the future looks bright because the young guys will keep on learning. And there may be more injuries, but there are still some key starters about to come back as well, so that could counterbalance the new injuries.
This team has definitely impressed me. I thought this season would be a total wash, but even with a nearly insurmountable number of injuries they are hanging tough. Sure, they were in similar positions in recent seasons this far in but not every year is the same. Now the Rays and Jays are much worse and the Central contenders are no better than the Sox really. These next 7 series before the all star break are going to be HUGE in determining what this team is exactly. Buyers? Firm Sellers? Bit of Both? They have 4 series coming up vs below .500 teams and 3 of those are last place teams(Jays, Reds, Marlins). After that they get the Yankees, A's(another last place team) and Royals. With all those divisional games and last place teams coming up, the Sox could put a BIG dent in the division or take hold of a WC position. Gotta take advantage here, especially with Wilyer and Casas getting healthy.

If you are in the hunt why not have Jansen and Hendricks? Don’t trade off O’Neill or Pivetta. Yeah we will forgo some prospects, but if we can get a deep playoff run it will rejuvenate the fan base.
