When he was struggling, the only reason why I had a glimmer of hope for him is because it was mentioned multiple times he stole 70 bases in a season in the minors. First off, in order to do that, you need to get on base at a respectable clip to have those opportunities. Secondly, it just means he’s damn fast. I’m happy to see things are turning around for him.
Every time I see a video like this I get hopeful (optimistic?) that with a few recoveries the team will be really dangerous down the stretch. Pray for health everyone!
I'm shocked, Corbin! You and I are in 100% agreement on David Hamilton. I agree he is better at 2nd defensively. I didn't know he was right behind Duran in stolen bases. I here the front office is looking for a shortstop replacement as well as a starting pitcher. Also, on the wire today, the White Sox have returned Shane Doohan, who was selected in the Rule 5 draft.
Had been hoping you’d do a video on Hamilton! The turnaround speaks again to the improved coaching this year. Now if they could only improve his glove. Have you seen enough of Grissom to say you’d prefer Hamilton at 2B?
Went to a lot of UT games and never really thought he’d be a big league SS. Its really cool to see him make it and thrive at the plate for the best team in baseball! (15th-ish best record, but whatever)
As I mentioned on one of the last previous video's I think David would be a nice fit at second base. I am gushing about the way that guy is playing. If we could come up with a good defensive shortstop I agree David could be the solution at second base. He really has made some good plays at that position. The shorter distance he would have to throw would probably help quite a bit. I mean this guy is hitting for average,,,,homeruns and once on base he is a headache in the purist sense for the other teams. Duran and David drive them crazy. A very nice combination for the offense. If he can maintain a decent batting average he could be something pretty special. He is a lot of fun to watch right now. Seeing the sox stick it to the Phillies last night was priceless. Go Sox. Great video Corbin. Joe
Hey Corbin another guy who deserves some credit is Valdez. He's kicking the s*** out of the ball I just hope these guys could keep it up and be consistent like this you know. That's what it's going to take until they get somebody's other guys back
Love his bat and speed, but he and the Sox have got to get it together on defense. The errors are no joke. They lead to unearned runs. I sent the following stats to your Instagram: Sox have given up 44 unearned runs, the most in MLB. They are 3-20 when giving up an unearned run, and 31-14 when not giving up an unearned run. As big an impact losing Casas in the line up is, I would say losing Story’s defense has also been a huge impact on this season.
I remember when mookie betts would ride the bench in favor of JBJ…. Sometimes stars emerge, we can hope. We need consistently at SS. The long term stats eventually show the truth
I think IF David Hamilton can keep hitting well, you wait till Casas gets back, call up Mayer, stick Hamilton at 2nd and see what happens. This series vs the Yankees is huge for the season imo
I LOVE how hard Hamilton has worked to become a productive hitter, and a better defender at SS. His speed is a game changer! Yesterday's game, his speed AND power were key in our comeback win! We seriously do NOT need to trade for a SS like light hitting Paul DeJong or anyone else. Hamilton is entering into the Rookie of the year competition. Thank you for today's video Corbin! We definitely owe Hamilton an apology. I think we also owe Bloom an apology, as he was they guy who traded for Hamilton!
I hope you are wrong, but yeah defense isn't his strong suit. I do remember a young Nolan Arenado at 3B where the Rockies had questions about his defense and look how that turned out! Go Red Sox ❤
I apologize Mr. Hamilton…the speed is incredible. I just love the first move after crushing the ball he secures his helmet every time …Hamilton Cedanne and Duran is the fastest clump of players in the league.
At the most, he needs to get comfortable at SS. Sometimes it looks like he is rushing the ball, you know what I am saying. I believe he will be fine in due time.
Ill be honest when i heard "fast guy named hamilton" i thought it was billy initially😊. He was filling big shoes when he came up and is showing promise. Lets get philly again
The only thing about his game that surprises me is his batting average. I figured him to be more of a .240-.250 hitter with amazing speed and a little pop. His defense in the minors was average to above average.
His babip is .379 . 309 is league average. Luck is a huge part of short term fluctuations in baseball. That's why they play so many games and why baseball is magical. Good luck helps with self confidence and for some players it makes them better for a long time or until teams adjust defensively and the adjustments for the player in question don't happen. It's fun to watch the cat and mouse games with young players.
I apologize to him as well. I think it's definitely sustainable . Him and Duran on top of the order will give teams fits with the hitting and speed. That a great thing to have for sure. Really happy for him and wish him more success going forward. I think with playing time his defense will improve. "Thanks Corbin"!! " Let's Go Red Sox:!!!
Last year I said to you that Hamilton's speed could be a valuable addition. You ignored my brilliance as usual. In the minors, Hamilton was a .250 hitter+ had ahigh walk rate+average defense+a burner. My best biggest concern with him was his lefty bat. He could lost in the RS lefty flood. In your Nick Yorke interview, you didn't bring his high OBP. His best weapon!
He's doing well and much better than expectations. With the list of names you mentioned primarily Vaughn Grissom wouldn't you think the Red Sox take advantage of his success and try to trade him? I'd hate for him to go but Vaughn won't be traded and if he was it won't be for much. If they continue to be mediocre wouldn't they want to sell some players to rebuild faster? It really looks like the Grissom Sale trade was a negative for Boston. Hate to say that this early but how many players had injuries for someone else to seize the opportunity to advance as Hamilton has. But again maybe it's only temporary.
I still think he is what he is - someone who just sticks around. I think the pitchers will soon catch up to him and he’ll regress to the plyr we know him to be
Seeing him last year and his defensive struggles I wrote him off. I also apologize Mr. Hamilton. Now I want him to be like Duran and be our speedy 1, 2 punch.
Hamilton deserves some love and I hope he continues to get better. But I’m not apologizing. He didn’t have much to show for himself til recently. Let’s hope his D improves & he becomes that breakout player.
Like Duran before him, I never gave up on Hammy. Their minor league numbers were impressive. I even think Dalbec and Grissom will figure things out, though Dalbec might have to do it for another team.
look at Dalbec’s average over the last three years it’s gone down. He’s not gonna make it here. He has had 11:15 three years to try telling him to move on. he’s like a cat. He has nine lives with the Red Sox
with the bat he is doing very well, but with the glove? oh dear. hopefully they can find a way to improve on that and then we will have a very solid piece
My best guess is Hamilton is on a hot streak that will eventually end but they should ride the hot hand for as long as possible. His defense is definitely a big problem but right now let's keep it going as hard as it is to believe they desperately need his offense.🤔
Yeah I don’t think it’ll look like this forever but is that settling back to a well below league average or slightly above because that drastically changes the outcome on him
It's not that he isn't useful but he needs to at best be a 2B cause he just can't play SS. I almost feel like he'd be better to transition to a CF (obviously not overnight) and move Rafaela to SS.
Theres one glaring problem I have with Hamilton. Firstly let me say that you have to expect a few errors from this young man especially being forced to play short when his true position is 2nd base. That being said.. everytime this mothers son throws to first base I wince! Expecting the ball to run short and force whomever is at first to make an exceptional pick. Twice last night.. thank you Bobby Dalbec! Now, here is where Story could be helping this young player, is he? I don't know possibly he is. As a hitter I think Hamilton is finally catching up to the pace of playing in the major leagues. This kid is the future of 2nd base for the Sox.
The Red Sox have a nice problem with the unforeseen offensive emergence of David Hamilton ... You now have another legitimate talent competing to eventually take over second base unless he can improve his game defensively at shortstop ... The other interesting dilemma that Hamilton now presents to Craig Breslow is that he adds another productive left handed bat to the already high number of talented hitters from the left side that the Red Sox have at the MLB and minor league levels ...
Hamilton has had a great month of April. He’s even carried it over to June and still succeeding. The younger guys are definitely knocking on the door with all these injuries and Hamilton has stepped up.
This was a good take until you brought up Hamilton's 6 errors. Dude, players make errors. Especially shortstops. Go look at Ozzie Smith's stats. Greatest shortstop of all time. He committed 24 errors in his age 25 season. Most of Hamilton's defensive struggles came in the first month. Ask Cora. Hamilton's defense has come a long way. That's why he's comfortable with him at short enough to let Cedanne play CF. Hamilton is playable at short. He's not a disaster.
i think hamiltons is just trying to make up for the redsox horrible 2nd baseman problem, that doesnt explain all the errors but does have a factor in it
i love that the yankees are soo hot at beginning of year. cant wait for them to choke at end. Maybe even to the Sox, if we make playoffs i think we have a chance to win it all. i know a lot of pieces have to fall in place but i have faith....even without big papi lol
Hamilton has improved no doubt, it’s his attitude when he makes an error or strikes out that irks me, how he laughs about it as if it was a big joke, No man, you’re getting paid pretty well so take your job a little more serious.
David Hamilton has fewer errors at age 25 than Derek Jeter, Ozzie Smith and Carlton Fisk. The Boston Red Sox didn't lose 34 games because of Hamilton's 6 measly errors, they lost because of our best pitchers and hitters struggling to stay healthy. Trusting Romy Gonzalez, really? Why not Marcelo Mayer? MLB pipeline said he was supposed to be called up last year. Maybe his time is coming
yea he can hit But he is a nigh mare in the field. Most throws are off line or in the dirt. He's been saved by first basemen that can dig the ball out of the dirt. Rafaela can't throw either. Both these guy can't throw. Bring up Sogard or Mayer
So , Red Sox have about six second baseman and no SS? Connor Wong, Hamilton, Valdez, Joey, Grissom, Yorker, lol…. Hamilton stays at SS grows into position Sucks MLB taking your money , you deserve it not them
He’s just hot RN. nothing against David, he’s not a long term solution for us at the major league level. some h o w, he’s way better then that bum Kíke tho.
@@redseatradio We should just play him at 2B over Grissom then. Grissom has sucked defensively, and no juice on the bat yet. Need a SS asap. That would be really cool
Had been hoping you’d do a video on Hamilton! The turnaround speaks again to the improved coaching this year. Now if they could only improve his glove. Have you seen enough of Grissom to say you’d prefer Hamilton at 2B?

Hamilton should stick at SS, Grissom 2B and Ceddanne CF....Hamilton needs more reps to get confidence and better at SS
