Ben Orr, unlike many who achieved fame, never forgot his roots, and despite working on Cars and solo stuff, made time for a good cause. Care feeds children. Ben, in this video is not rock star, he is lending his abilities to do some good in the world. He also did some good in Cleveland with his involvement. Kind and generous, hometown kid, made it big and stepped up to the plate when asked. Ben was an incredibly gifted artist. His kind, generous soul inspires me to do some good. God bless Ben.
Many people in Cleveland, including many of his oldest friends, still refer to Benjamin as "Benny" because he was known as "Benny Eleven Letters" when he was young. I agree that it seemed somewhat inappropriate in this context however.
I have seen every interview, except the last interview he did with The Cars. I see the thumbnail for it all the time, but I just can't bring myself to watch it.
+dawn fillinger In regards to his cancer, in an interview, Benjamin said he wanted to play his music till he fell down and couldn't get back up, and that's pretty much what he did. I believe it took a lot of physical and mental strength to be a part of that last interview. He wanted to do it or else he wouldn't have been there. To exclude him would have been an insult, a slap in the face, so to speak. He was an integral part of that band and it was his well deserved place to be there. Cancer is not a pretty disease. It was heartbreaking to see his pain, but good to see he wasn't going down without a fight. And, he fought like a true warrior...
then don't watch it if it hurts too much. Just know, that lovely spirit has left its physical body and now continues on. A lovely soul such as Benjamin's deserved to exist in the divine; unencumbered by earthly suffering and limitations. His soul continues and shall never cease to be. He is greater perfection now than he ever was on Earth with us. So he must be absolutely effervescently Magnificent! I hope to meet soul to soul one day in eternity with this beautiful being. Sorry to sound so sappy but I think and read more about this since my only, beloved and most precious child died last year. There is so much more to living than our time on Earth, peeps. Peace to you all.
Unlike others, Ben's voice doesn't sound strained or forced. He was such a natural with a lovely tone. He's head and shoulders above all these others even though they swamped him.
His old friends and locals still called him Benny, because that's how they first knew him, Benny Orzechowski or Benny 11-Letters, because people had trouble pronouncing his last name.:) He was a local celebrity in Ohio as a teenager/young man - he was part of a local band called The Grasshoppers that was the house band for a tv show called Upbeat, which was recorded in Cleveland and syndicated nationally. They had a minor hit in 1965 called Mod Socks, it went to 104 on the Billboard charts.
Bill Pettijohn & Billy Sullivan from (Moonlight Drive) Paul Fayreweather, Tommy & Frank Amato from (Beau Coup) Steve Jochum from (Wild Horses) Skip & Kenny from (The Dazz Band) Wally Bryson from the (Raspberries) Alex Bevan, etc... & a few other Cleveland cat's I know their faces but can't remember their names. Sucks when you start getting older & part-timers disease begins to set in, ya dig? 🤔😉 Blah,ha,ha!!! 😂😁🤣 +Peace, Funk & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friends+ 🤘😜🤘
22+ years gone now. I'm still heartbroken. But aren't we all. See you on the other side ben

Bennie Orr? He doesn't look like a "Bennie" to me. Ben or Benjamin.
He doesn't like to be called Ben....... :)
Benjamin is best!

Good cause, bad song…
I like listening to bad 80's music and videos of starving kids with bugs coming out of their eyes and mouths.
What the hell is this crap?
It's a live-aid era charity song from Cleveland are performers.
