You are getting very good at filming and putting together each vlog. Of course the star had a good look in today and started the show and ended it, thanks so much for my weekly escape!
The bread was actually really nice with a little jame and a cuppa but nothing compared to the yummy pub roast lunch we had. Thanks for watching Carol 😊
Liz, Paul and Captain Ernie, OMG what an adventure you have had this week. From postal vans using the toe path, to running out of food, to locals who can't tell you if there are any grocery shops, to Captain Ernie not being allowed into the pub. What is the world coming to? Imagine if you had broken down part way along. It could be months before anyone found you lol. At least Captain Ernie would share his rations; if of course you shared yours at the pub. Still can't get over that Captain Ernie was not able to sit inside the pub and share a pint or two with you. By the way does Captain Ernie enjoy beer?? Take care guys and hope the sun shines on you. Mark Alberta, Canada
Don't tempt fate with the break down part 🫣🤣 I never eat a meal without giving Ernie a little taster so he was well looked after at the pub despite not being allowed in 🫣 I've never given him beer, it's a slippery slope incase he gets the taste for it 🤣🤣 😊
Morning Liz thank you for the nice reply. Sunny but cold here around Darlington. We are going to Rustique for lunch at Richmond today it’s my day off. Take care both of you, but it does look nice and snug on the boat. See you next week Bob
Hi all, loving your vlogs as usual, can you imagine going over the ponty aqueduct with this storm Bert blowing😮 I'm on the great river ouse at the moment there are waves with white horses but we're moored up safely with 5 lines tied up to strong bollards. See you next week 😊
I can't imagine cruising anywhere in storm Bert let alone over that aqueduct 🤣🫣 I don't think I'd even walk it in this weather 🤭 Stay safe and warm David 😊
Beautiful drone footage of Llangollen. Our first time narrowboating this summer was there and back, and it really was just a lovely spot we wish we could have spent more time there. Looks like you had beautiful weather. And just how much faster it is going with the flow rather than against it on the way back! The Mongomery looks great, glad you found a pub for dindins and hope you found a shop, ha
Yes we managed to find a shop about 20min cycle away. Llangollen is beautiful, probably the nicest place we've been so far on the canals. We would love to go back and spend more time there another year. Thanks so much for watching 😊
Hi guys great vlog as usual 😊 . The Montgomery canal looked like a relaxing canal to cruise with great vegetation and wildlife. Your Sunday lunch at the Queens head looked delicious , till next week
It was lovely to see the Montgomery canal restored again. My Grandfather was lock keeper at Aston lower lock.Sadly the lock house is demolished but my grand dad's office still stands though very poor condition. When the canal was closed my grandparents moved to live at Queens Head. Though quite pretty with a nature reserve I preferred it how it used to be.Anyway thank you for showing the canal now it is navigable again.
Good night Ernie Liz and Paul i love watching your you tube videos on your you tube channel I hope every one is well and enjoying your adventures on your narrow boat please keep well and please keep up your good work on your you tube channel woof to Ernie cheers every one
Beautiful drone footage. 🤗 On the plus side, the Weather's warming up slightly next week. Might have been a bit to much Salt in the Bread mix Paul, it can kill the Yeasty beasties, about half a Teaspoon should be fine. All other ratios sound fine though. If you mix your dough in a mixing bowl, cover with a shower cap & leave overnight, (at least 8 hours,) shape in morning & Bake, you'll not have to knead it at all, & it tastes like sourdough bread.🍞 TFS, & take care you 3.👍🐶
Oooo don't think we've ever left overnight before so we shall give this method a go..the bread was actually quite nice and tasted perfect with a little butter and jam and a nice cuppa 😊
Great vlog again guys. Keep up good banter. The bread did look edible. I thought you had to put sugar in the mix to feed the yeast. I can't remember you mentioning it when you ran through your ingredients. Take care guys. Thanks. 😊
An “A*” for the intro 🤓 I suspect you are now out of the area, but if you come back and have the car as its too far to walk too, turn right out of the basin and you will get to the “Horseshoe Pass”. Then on top of there are the views of Eryri to the left and the Ponderosa Café and walks from there. Also, given Paul’s passed carpenter trade you would enjoy “Plas Newydd Historic House”. Which is passed you fudge shop up to the traffic lights, turn left and then first right. The café and grounds are not bad either.
Great drone footage at the beginning Liz 👍 Hope you enjoyed your roast dinner 👍 You didn't comment on the bread, was it that bad 🤣 Hope Paul can get food soon. Safe journey, see you next week 💕
Thanks Jan. No, the bread was actually nice with some butter, jam and a cuppa. We managed to cycle about 20mins to a morrisons in the end and live to tell the tale 🤣😊
I love listening to your banter! Constantly giggling, so thank you for that BUT we never discovered what the bread tasted like… or was it a cake, Paul? 😊
@ that is good to hear! I buy in black sourdough bread which is delicious but i have never tried baking it myself tbh. Fresh homemade bread on the boat must be such a treat! Keep warm!😜
We spent last winter on the Ashby. There are a few small villages and towns along the way but yes definitely worth a stock up before going on that canal or this one 😉😊
Glad you made it to the end Now if you find food you will survive to make another vlog hate to think you would just get swallowed up in the Welch hills with no milk and only little loaves of bread. Did Paul have dessert Liz or just you. My wife always has a dessert! I’m sat watching you and it’s the 20th November and minus 2 if not colder . All the best for now and see you next week. Hi Bob, yes we are a few weeks behind in the videos so we are now currently in minus 3 degrees and we had snow last night too. Paul doesn't really have a sweet tooth like me so he didn't have dessert. Just me 😉😊 We are spending Xmas with family for a few days and putting the boat in a marina 😊

We did the Montgomery as people said while on the llangollen it’s got to be done. Well… to be honest we thought it was a waste of diesel. A canal having nothing doesn’t make it nice and peaceful etc. mooring’s? View’s ( we went in the summer and reed’s 10ft high). We did it and if someone asked I’d say don’t bother in your boat but walk it. Good video though 😊😂
Yes I think I would agree with you on this one, nice quiet canal but not a lot to see and do. I think in next week's video I suggest if you're going to do it to do it before you go to Llangollen as to be quite honest after you been and seen the amazing views from Llangollen you are kind of spoilt and this doesn't quite come close. Our boat is more like 20tons so yes you're right with the fact that it would be the kayak that suffers. I think maybe you misunderstand how a narrowboat manoeuvres as the kayaks were in the same line as the narrow aqueduct it would be impossible to move the boat to avoid them until our back is off the tight aqueduct and with us being 68ft long and with the kayak instructor being closer and in our line we had no choice but to jump off and pull the front away from them as our back was still on the aqueduct. I hope that helps to explain why what the instructor did was a dangerous move. 😳
