- Me? Expressing opinions on UA-cam? It’s more likely than you think. Hi, it’s me with a 40 minute ranking video. I tried to cut it down as best I could, but the video ended out feeling choppy, and it didn’t flow very well if I did that. (Somebody’s Gotta Do It is probably the best example of what happened). Two quick things, 1: I know that certain numbers may look like bad rankings (13, 12, etc.) but I swear if it's in my top 14, I love that song, and even if it's not, I still really like the song. 2: I doubt anyone would want to see it, but I do have a list of rankings that's a bit more in depth than this video for most songs (such as We Love the Prince! and Spies are Forever). If you would like to see it though, feel free to ask! Anyways, I hope you enjoy this video despite the length, and please leave suggestions for new videos in the comments!

The first time I watched this musical, I wasn’t really paying attention. So I was really confused when everyone was saying “wow curt mega is a gay icon for representation”. Going back and rewatching it made me realize just how good the writers were

I don't know why Torture Tango is never #1 on these lists! It's amazing! Whether you know the motives behind it or not (and lets be real, knowing that it's actually Owen takes it to a whole other level) it is just exhilarating. Most of the time in musical theatre, Act 1 finale's are one of, if not the, best number in the show. This is a clear example. Not to mention, when Tatiana saves him and asks, "what's your damage, man?" it introduces you to a whole new side of Curt where he believes that he needs to do this alone since Owen is gone. He won't be replaced. It's also just a really great song.
Another reason why it’s so good: It directly mirrors the first song. Mary Kate Wiles singing in a platform, and Owen in disguise torturing Mega
I love their faces at 26:04 when saying “I’m a girl” “I’m a guy” like Tatiana looks like it’s obvious and Curt just look really confused

I love this show because of how serious it is with a few moments of comedy sprinkled throughout, it leads to some beautiful songs and ugh I just love this musical
Honestly, there are a lot of things I don’t agree with but holy shit, bless your soul for including Coldest Goodbye (Reprise), it is my F A V O U R I T E

Spies are forever would be so wonderful as a larger production. Like with a broadway budget. Imagine “we love the prince” with a huge ensemble or “one step ahead” with some like sick props or if they can pretend to be on jet packs with wires.

I agree about eyes on the prize 1, but I think it's just the contrast between her character/characters voice and flipping between that and her falsetto that messes it up. And she has one of my favorite falsettos EVER.

Her voice literally gives me chills.
In her first song, she sings like she’s in some sort of lounge or casino. Which, to me, is very reminiscent of those song in the opening of Bond films
Finally, someone who agrees with me about Lauren's rendition of Eyes on the Prize I! I love Lauren so much and she plays the character so well, but her voice is too light for the tone of the song. I feel this way with her about Taz too. Part played perfectly, tone of voice... not so much.
I agree with keep your eyes on the prize 1. Especially Suzan yelling in the middle of it always kind of bugged me.

i also think it's annoying, but only because it's done after EVERY LINE of the choruses. if susan only did it like once maybe twice at the end it would be actually effective and funny

during the second half of somebody's gotta do it, when the two are singing, joe and joey are just so. oblivious. like joey is just showing him the briefcase and chillin' and being criminals it's so fucking funny

spy again reprise is at last place for a reason but when curt says "even when we're buried 6 feet under the ground" the part from "doesn't even matter if i killed my best friend" plays and i tear up a little

I get SAF. I wanted to put it higher I really did! Looking at the list I feel like SAF, Somebody’s Gotta Do It, and We Love the Prince! could’ve all been switched around infinitely and I never would’ve been happy with their placements, lol

My favourite part of the whole musical is absolutely in Torture Tango, when Curt says “Owen?” and you can actually see the deadliest man reaching up to check his mask hadn’t come off 🖤

In spies are forever when curt and joey are dancing,curt’s movements are slightly ahead of joey’s. Am I the only one who thinks that it would be better if joey’s were ahead of curt’s due to one step ahead?
Ive always thought that’s supposed to symbolize Curt’s recklessness and the fact that he quickly jumps into things without thinking, and the fact the One Step Ahead things comes into play during One Step Ahead, as Owen always sings first in that song when they’re singing the same lines back at each other
i’m not sure why but to me we love the prince goes SO HARD it’s like number 2 on my list
Does anyone know if in the song One More Shot when Susan "doesn't remember what she was saying" if that was adlibbed and the actor forgot his line.

My only problem with spies are forever is how Owen could go from being with curt to hating him completely. I’d get never being able to forgive him but to spend so much time to ruin Curt’s life when his life is pretty much already ruined.

Spy again and a lot of curt's acting in general is too hammy imo. If spy again was slowed down and took a few beats it would be a masterpiece but it reads like a rushed monologue
Very true, but I think it works with the musical as a whole because Curt is someone we're not really supposed to take all that seriously
