#1 literally breaks my heart every time bc you know rewatching exactly who the deadliest man alive is, and you know exactly why he's been waiting. But he's so caught up in the torture that he doesn't see Curt's regret and it HURTS ME
i never noticed that before and i've been obessed with the overlap of the lines 'doesn't even matter if i killed my best friend' & 'to show you the horror of staying alive' for so long and that little detail now hurts me more than it already did-
I know this comment is somewhat old, but I actually have to disagree - it seems like Owen did in fact understand Curt’s regret. Through all of his lines like “I probably spent the last four years hating you more than you did,” it shows that Owen acknowledged that it was an accident and that Curt regrets it and has hated himself for what he did. But Owen had spent four years in heartbreak and anger, frustrated with Curt’s incompetence and irresponsibility that Owen had to constantly keep in check when they were together. Owen seemed to understand Curt’s pain, but he didn’t care because he wanted Curt to hurt. Probably partly because Owen had been hurting for so long, and partly because he gained satisfaction from the knowledge that Curt still loved him, which perhaps he’d doubted for some time after Curt left him for dead. Personally, I actually appreciate the fact that Owen seemed very much aware of Curt’s pain and regret. The whole idea of “betrayed person who doesn’t realize the betrayal was an accident/doesn’t realize the betrayer regrets it” has been done many times, so I find it interesting that they went for a betrayed person who simply refuses to forgive even after acknowledging those things. Because four years is a lot of time to sit there in your rage. Owen was long past forgiveness, even if some part of him still loved and missed Curt.
I totally agree; why is The Coldest Goodbye so low?? We get some fuckin Sick Vocals from Mary Kate, the awesome ambiguity of the lyrics, and the general aesthetic is just mmh. Good shit. Though, I do love the idea of having the audience do a ranking, too. It's cool! (Also, I'm pretty sure I was one of the people to submit a survey lol)
I just noticed in Nazis Aren't So Bad Brian is the only Nazi that's not blond, just as Adolf Hitler wasn't actually blond, had brown eyes, and wasn't even German.
i love that so many people seem to think torture tango is the best song because oh my god i thought i was the only one- there's just so much depth and emotion in a song that could very well be looked over by a lot of people, and that's not to mention the killer vocals from curt, mk, & joe. the lyrics are so clever and well-written the overlap of the lines 'doesn't even matter if i killed my best friend' & 'to show you the horror of staying alive' that have so much more meaning when you know the ending, and as @sarah j said somewhere below me, it's so interestingly heartwrenching that owen is too caught up in the torture to see owen's regret (that i ofc didn't realise fully till i saw sarah's comment aha)
I know that Eyes on the Prize puts people off with the contrast between Lauren's falsetto and the voice she chose to use, but isn't it sort of clever in a way? Not many women would have risen to such a prominent position of any capacity especially in the CIA, and if they did it would be because they took on masculine characteristics to gain the respect of their peers and subordinates. But by contrast it shows her feminity I guess? Just a thought
hearing torture tango again and hearing Curt do the line "doesn't even matter if I killed my best friend" and now knowing that he is right behind him hurts so much
The voting is confusing... The higher voted ones are the lower ones? How does that make sense?? XD not blaming you, it's probably just me being stupid lol
Nah you’re fine! It was a very convoluted system. Basically, everyone voted on which song would be placed in which spot. Some songs had a clear win margin, others not so much, and won by only a vote or two. In the middle spots there were also a LOT of ties that had to be worked out. So like take last place. Everyone who voted chose what song they wanted to be in last place, and then the song that got the most votes for last place was in last place. Hopefully that makes sense, I know I put something in the description too.
I’m sorry but I really don’t get what the votes along the side means. Like the bottom song has nine votes but then the one above has 4 or 5 (I can’t remember) what does it meannnn?
Leah Scarth So I asked everyone in the survey “What song would you put at 4th?” “What song would you put at 3rd?” etc. and the votes next to each song are for how many people who voted to place that song where it is

I know! Literally everything you listed is why I love that song, as well as the fact that sometimes you just have to acknowledge that a song slaps.
My favorite parts in one step ahead:
“Feeling a lot of deja vu again”
“THIS IS WHAT YOU MADE ME DO, THIS IS IT, WE’RE DONE WE’RE THROUGH”

Mary Kate's voice in Coldest Goodbye, Spies Are Forever, and Doing This is actually the most beautiful thing.
