HOPE THIS HELPS! My own impromptu review of the gun: I like the feel of the weapon. It sounds satisfying when firing it and the poison, though not as powerful anymore, can intimidate people with the green screen of panic and halts recovery for a few seconds (every second counts in a firefight). Thorn is pretty good if you use your surroundings, have good map knowledge, and pick your fights. If you get caught in 2v1 situations in 6v6 games, duck out of there once one of them is defeated or shoot them both if you get the drop on them or use abilities to distract them. Went 12-0 during a game of control with it. I actually recommend Aggressive Ballistics and Sent it, despite the clip to its range Bungie implemented. You just need to use it at Hand Cannons' optimal ranges (i.e. Eyasluna). The impact to headshots is brought up to 81 when in the optimal range in my experience with the weapon.
Word of Crota + Void Devil's Dawn got me through this. I tried Atheon's Epilogue, but Word of Crota was a lot easier to use. Hammer Forged really helps with that Archetypes range. Thanks for the guide Datto, but unfortunately I had already got this one done.
The exact number of void crucible kills needed is 125. If you go into an app that feeds from the API (easiest is the Destiny app), percentage quests are listed there as clear numbers, for some reason. It was that way with the Chaperone quest as well. In the case of Y3 Thorn, you can see exactly how many void kills you have out of 125 if you click on the quest in the app.
I'm so glad the last step is just opening a horde chest. In year 1 when lfg was still really new and I had no one to play with, I had to solo the strike to kill Xyor, the Unwed which made me cry every night when I kept failing it
That wasn't hard, that took a long time and was frustrating, thorn have their voids kill in crucible, at first not a big problem but if you or the one who was trying was bad at crucible it would take forever as deaths set you back. I have friends that only got their Thorn, even though they already had the bounty, by the green exotic engram at the start of year 2

No, they need their stupid f*cking accuracy cone removed. WE HAVE A RANGE STAT FOR A REASON. Why is this so hard to understand. I keep seeing people say "buff the range", when removing the accuracy cone nonsense is such a better buff. Why punish players for even being able to track people at range with this gun with missed bullets when the damage drop off is much more than enough to make people never attempt it?
If you're on the crucible part and mayhem is an available playlist, go in there with a void shotty and subclass. I got it done after about 4 games, totaling around 30 minutes.
Someone may have already commented and stated it, but I saw another video and basically it said, fill up all your bounties, to include the 4 from Shiro. Get as many of them done as you can and obviously the 4 from Shiro. Then spam turn in the bounties which I did saving the 4 for last. I haven't gotten the Thorn bounty till this week when I did this little method and it popped.
Maduxx Oney it's always been that way. In year 1 there were 3 or 4 exotic quests you had to bounties to maybe get a chance to start the quest. And even then you only got to choose 1 of the 3 quests
Yeah I got the Thorn quest yesterday on my Titan (I main Hunter). For the void kills in crucible I just used my Word of Crota, void shotgun, and Truth. It took me about 10+ control matches to get it done. I got about 14 kills on average per game and 14 kills for me got me at 11% done. The rest of the quest is easy.
Thorn was my first exotic in Year 1, and I'm really glad to have it back. Seriously, it needs a buff. It's usable for me because I got really good with it but I really can't say the same for other people.

for the fallen part , what i would actually suggest is go do strikes so u can also get your skeleton key u need later , i did this and it worked really well
IMO i dont think it is, if somebody has the artifact that reduces DOT you're pretty screwed. I also noticed that there are ghost bullets occurring with the Y3 thorn.
Don't fucking use the Thorn thats it, it was good in Y1 but now its just not good its now decent, they only brought it back for the Y1 players not to have annoying statistics of a lot of usage of Thorn again
It's 125 kills in the Crucible, the in game quest step shows percentage, but the Destiny app shows the amount of kills you need. So you weren't wrong, but 125 is the specific number.
If you're like me and mediocre in the Crucible and struggle to get kills with your special, getting those Void kills doesn't need to be super painful. Use a Void sidearm. Unlike the other special weapons you'll respawn with a supply of ammo so no need to go chasing those ammo crates. It's still a big grind, but a few hours of Iron Banner and I got the step done thanks to the sidearm. If you don't have a Void sidearm, you can buy the Teacup Tempest from the Vanguard Quartermaster.
atheon was rough in the cruicble! i would even waste the mag down to 30 to get GHF. i ended up switching to word of crota and found that working better for me.
Im 385 light bud... I play Destiny. Do you even know how to count? He added together all the bounties on all characters. Each bounty turned in is another chance to get the thorn bounty. I'm sorry you were too stupid for me to have to explain everything. I'm not going to sit here arguing with another keyboard warrior.
You can tear through the fallen kills step if you farm out the first part of the raid. Costs no offerings, volt absorbers are worth 4 percent, and consistent spawning of ads
Thorn is actually still quite decent. I got mine last night and first game got a 4.2kd. Although the DoT damage is pretty much dead it is still very viable.
I keep seeing people say that thorn needs a buff because it's burn sucks; do you realize it still has the quickest time to kill? You can one headshot two bodyshot people waaaay faster than any hand cannon. It's fine where it's at.
I used The Messenger (Adept) year 1 flawless trials pulse rifle for the void kills and it 2 bursted people (did 34 and sometimes 36 damage to the head) I was pleasantly surprised. Thought they got rid of all 2 burst pulses in some patch a while back but it was awesome :D
I did not have Atheons Epilogue but did have Word of Crota and it felt very solid for the Void Kills. If I remember right you can 3 tap someone down with all headshots.
Hey, for the fallen kills quest step fallen majors are worth 5% of the bounty each. For the crucible portion, I wrecked people with Atheon's Epilogue, especially hand cannon users. I just figured their aim was thrown off too much by the heavy stream of bullets. Word of Crota was trash. Took me 7 or 8 games of supremacy as a voidwalker.
Took about 20 bounties before I got it. I was half way through the void kills on my Titan, started playing on my hunter a bit, and I got another one after a few more bounties
It is exactly 130 void kills in crucible. I ran a voidwalker warlock, Atheons Ep, telesto, and corrective measure. Everything was void, no way a kill couldnt be. Mayhem Rumble was on rotation the week I did it, so it was super easy. I kept track of all my kills post game, and when all was said and done, that part completed at the exactly 130 kills.
for the crucible part, it seems like teammate void kills count too. Since IB Sup didn't count in the book, i would do supremacy, to get those 10 wins if you haven't already.
I did my Thorn quest yesterday, and I think majors may be worth more for the kill Fallen part. It seemed like I went through it much faster than my friend doing it at the same time, as I was taking down majors as soon as I saw them.
I was struggling since all I had was a shotgun that wasn't very good with Void on it for Crucible. But thankfully I picked up a Matador 64 around the 85% that got me two awesome games and finished that off quickly for me. Recoil sucks but it was fantastic with a shield titan
datto what you think? Thorn fells worse than any legendary hand cannon and the exotic perk dont do anything anymore. What i think, a buff to range (this will make it stop the phantom bullets) and a little re-work on the exotic perk like it still doing the same damage but the efect takes like 6-8 seconds so se can have any use to this freaking perk.
i deleted my atheons epilogue. Used word of crota for a second. That was horrible. Thank god i had a void adept scholar from y1 trials. That helped a lot.
I suggest using Word of Crota some void shotgun and void machine gun, that's what I used and it took me around 5 matches to get the bounty done. I'm a 1 KD flat player.
Also anyone who doesn't get it from the chest, look on the ground, for sometimes it will drop on the ground as an exotic engram instead of going into your inventory :3
I had Six Dreg Pride II for this bounty. Palindrome archetype hand cannon with void damage and slightly less range? It was actually seriously pretty good, and I fared better than my brother using Word of Crota.
jeez, i spent the whole afternoon grinding the SIVA Crisis strikes trying to get the Abomination Heist, and when it comes out, my controller magically stopped responding. I had to reset it and turn off my ps4. Then i grinded even more and never saw it again. The main problem is that i was "tracking" the quest, but it was sending me to a different strike in the director, i think it was Taniks. And as i didn't see the Abomination Heist title anywhere, i thought it only came out in a Playlist. What a pain in the ass. Plus. i lost an exotic drop because i died right at the end and then found the postmaster was full before that so RIP.
thorn doesnt feel that bad at all was using it in sweats and it was rather consistent once i got back in the groove with it using word of crota on the void kill part was good as well since they are of the same rate of fire/impact class so it was a similer shooting experience
I had a pulse rifle from the original prison of elders that had void on it. same archetype as hawksaw I think so that made it a breeze with a quantoplasm and the bane of the taken heavy machine gun. also ran nothing manicles which really helped with max discipline. getting a skeleton key was by far the hardest part of it. as for the thorn? never even used it. probably won't lol
For my Hunter friends, I'm struggling in the crucible, because Void kills is a pain in the butt. I found that Clash Mayhem with Felwinter is a pretty nice way to spam Voidwall and Envenom because at this point all I have is a void shotgun. Need 32 more kills.
For the Void kills, I used a Void Messenger (please bring it back Bungie) and a Void shotty with a Defender Titan. It was a bit challenging to combat the fire rate of Hawksaw and GoM. In the end tho, Messenger is bae.
Hey Datto could you do me a fav and next video for those who are wondering how to get some skeleton keys that the 320 strikes will grant you more keys than the 350 strikes. I have tested this i got 3 skeleton keys in about 1 hour of playing the 320 strikes i think I got lucky cuz I only did 5 strikes. As for 350 strikes I got 1 and did 8 strikes which took about 2 and half to 3 hours. I think it would help a lot of people if they found out about this, thanks. I love the videos man keep and up the hard work.

Yeah, but in year 1 you could do 10 bounties a day to get a chance to get the weapon. Now you only have about 4 opportunities per day.

FYI for the crucible part you need to kill 192 guardians using void weapons/abilities

Mr BWat Uncharged melees don't have an element so most likely one of those kills didn't count, unless you only used your Merle when it was charged :/

I just used quantiplasm with sun singer for the crucible part, and got it done really quickly, considering I always got top in the matches I played.

I did a random sheers bounty for fun and got it. This was the only Sheero bounty I've actually done

I did this during Iron Banner with a void Saladin's Vigil. First game I got 8 kills with the 8 ammo I started with. It was glorious.

Got this in week 3 on my hunter. Telesto was my friend in crucible. This was much easier than year 1 though.

jeez, i spent the whole afternoon grinding the SIVA Crisis strikes trying to get the Abomination Heist, and when it comes out, my controller magically stopped responding. I had to reset it and turn off my ps4. Then i grinded even more and never saw it again. The main problem is that i was "tracking" the quest, but it was sending me to a different strike in the director, i think it was Taniks. And as i didn't see the Abomination Heist title anywhere, i thought it only came out in a Playlist. What a pain in the ass. Plus. i lost an exotic drop because i died right at the end and then found the postmaster was full before that so RIP.
This quest is why I kept Atheon's Epilogue through year two.
Atheons Epilogue melted for me lol I had a lot of fun pairing it with a fusion and Truth. Only took me like 5-6 games to get it
i did this in my video a couple days ago. its much easier than year 1. Xyor was a PAIN! Killing the ogre was much better.
125 Void kills in crucible (said it on the companion app). I used the word of Crota and a Void side arm
thorn doesnt feel that bad at all was using it in sweats and it was rather consistent once i got back in the groove with it using word of crota on the void kill part was good as well since they are of the same rate of fire/impact class so it was a similer shooting experience
I had a pulse rifle from the original prison of elders that had void on it. same archetype as hawksaw I think so that made it a breeze with a quantoplasm and the bane of the taken heavy machine gun. also ran nothing manicles which really helped with max discipline.
getting a skeleton key was by far the hardest part of it. as for the thorn? never even used it. probably won't lol
It is 125 kills bc if you track the quest then on the app if you pull up the quest it will show your progress out of 125
For my Hunter friends, I'm struggling in the crucible, because Void kills is a pain in the butt. I found that Clash Mayhem with Felwinter is a pretty nice way to spam Voidwall and Envenom because at this point all I have is a void shotgun. Need 32 more kills.

I did this with word of crota and it is actually Very viable in crucible right now.
For the Void kills, I used a Void Messenger (please bring it back Bungie) and a Void shotty with a Defender Titan. It was a bit challenging to combat the fire rate of Hawksaw and GoM. In the end tho, Messenger is bae.
Hey Datto could you do me a fav and next video for those who are wondering how to get some skeleton keys that the 320 strikes will grant you more keys than the 350 strikes. I have tested this i got 3 skeleton keys in about 1 hour of playing the 320 strikes i think I got lucky cuz I only did 5 strikes. As for 350 strikes I got 1 and did 8 strikes which took about 2 and half to 3 hours. I think it would help a lot of people if they found out about this, thanks. I love the videos man keep and up the hard work.
I used the void jewel of Osiris (adept) and it definitely the best void primary to use.
year 1 thorn was a nightmare to get. the only reason i got it was when year 2 rolled around and all active bounties auto completed
