When the boss does the "fire up in the air" move, that summons the beetles, shoot him in the mouth with a ranged weapon. It stuns him, and removes all of his vulnerabilities. Otherwise, he will be vulnerable to nothing. Enjoy!
lol! i had used up all my pots and scrolls, dying over and over with worn weapons. after i read this comment i took him down on the first try :) thanks for the tip.
Literally did the same thing as I was doing other trophies and was watching netflix on another screen. Click, click, click ... now to upgrade my altar ... oh wait.
I did a "life leech / critical" build and it was pretty easy. Full disclosure, I did a lot of prep work for the fight, more than was necessary. I went to the far east of the map and started farming Legendary gear. Was level 16 when I did this boss, but had a lot of Legendary level 25 gear, including a sword that, if fully upgraded gives you +25% Critical Chance, so I had 30% Critical Chance, 2 Life Leech rings with 6% each and got health back every time I scored a hit. I could just stand under the Wyvern and hack away at it and pretty much ignore all her attacks, with the exception of the stunning one and even that just meant I had to wait a few seconds and then run under her again. I specifically chose that build because I suck. I'm old and I'm crap. My reflexes aren't what they used to be, so I don't want to do a lot of dodging and running and side-strafing and switching between melee and ranged weapons and whatnot. I call the build "The Flailing Death" (a reference to "The Wailing Death", for those who don't get it). I even wasted some skill points on experimental stuff like that one skill from the magical tree where you get a 20% chance to reflect 50% damage back on an enemy who hits you. I don't even know whether that did anything in the fight. Never saw any effect. However, that build makes it really easy. You just mash and spam the button and everything dies. I kind of accidentally killed my first "Monstrosity" like 20 minutes after defeating the Wyvern. I just cluelessly wandered into a Elixir Well, expecting the usual Fellbrute and suddenly there was this thing fighting me and I also just went through it by mindlessly hacking at it like a spaz. I'm level 18 now and I'm already farming those dragon birds in the endgame zone (desert) for their feathers.
@@Fortizar Thanks for the reply. It has its drawbacks to get endgame stuff early (Like that you rob yourself of excitement from getting any lower level gear for the rest of the playthrough, of course.), but as I said, I am just not cut out for this "Soulslike" type of gaming where you fight some boss 100 times before finally defeating it. I get that people get a sense of achievement out of that, but for me it isn't worth all the frustration and stress. I want some challenge in a game, but in general I play to relax and I have enough stress in my regular life. Thanks, it isn't actually that hard. All you need is just the glider, even the basic one, the grappling hook, a pickax and you need to take a construction hammer and some building material with you and then you can get pretty much everywhere, even when you have only upgraded your flame to level 2. You can just leapfrog 2 altars, build or dig stairs up the "Pillars of Creation" mountain and just run past all the high level enemies. Not sure if it is an oversight by the developers or by design that you can circumvent their "deadly shroud" system they set up to prevent people from doing that. I hope they will add additional content to the game and expand it in some way (beyond just that "hollow" arena stuff), but when I look at the videos on UA-cam, I am rather pessimistic. Almost all the content created about this game is 2 months old and so are almost all of the comments under the videos. It seems as if people got excited about this game 2 months ago but the hype train is over and everyone moved on already. To me that is a bummer, because the last two games I played a lot were Minecraft and Skyrim and those developed whole subcultures around them that kept people busy for a decade and more. I think a game like this, which kind of is like Minecraft and Skyrim mixed together, could have had more potential and not just be a flash in a pan. I suppose there is just too much competition nowadays.
I cheesed it. Beat him at level 15. Kitted out with legendary level 25 gear though. You can tunnel through the wall into the courtyard from the outside or the inside. I hollowed out a ledge in the wall about the height of the wyverns head when he starts inhaling. I made a ramp down to the courtyard that required a couple jumps to get up so the Ads couldn't reach me, so I could start the fight and get back up to the ledge. This made it much easier to read the attacks and dodge them. Then just waited for the inhale, stunned him with an arrow, hit him with some fireballs and poisoned copper arrows. Was so much easier. Maybe I'll have to do the fight again and show the set up and completion.
i had so much stocked into wizard and battlemage, that after using a prayer of the flame and a roasted azure russula, my wand was dealing a good 4-500 flame damage to any old part of him. just stacked pots to survive, since even with 233% stamina and the best shield i could get my hands on at the time, his jump attack ripped through all my block.
Couple of notes. you can place an alter outside to the right of the entrance for easy access. I was also spec in magic including the auto damage based on int. That made fairly easy work of the bugs. But wand was too slow, I killed him with melee.
A piece of the Guard of the North Armor Set is in the turret on the east side of the castle accessible by using the key and climbing upward. Its the head piece of the set that gives 13% crit chance to all dmg types, not trash loot.
The bowskill triple shot was LITERALLY made for this boss. The poison arrows do nothing tho so just stick with copper heads since that likely what you'll have at that point in the game.
NFI what happened in my game but i was exploring and came across him out of the blue, but something happened and he only spawned in with about a qtr of his full hp bar..at lvl 15 i really dont think i should have killed him yet :/
Killed this guy twice with basic HP pots (used 3), normal bandages and strawberries. Sword is the only thing I brought with me. This guy is quite easy to kill, just make sure you have enough stamina. You will mostly be going for two 3 hit combos before rolling and jumping out of the way. If you time you jump right, his pounce and tail swipe wont do any damage. When the adds spawn, just keep hitting his back legs / tail in the direction of the adds, so you swipe the adds at the same time. Used a basic sword found in the corpse in the village next to Pike's castle.
unfortunately not everyone can do stuff as easy as others that's why i make guides to help every skill base, but it's cool you done it with some crappy sword lol.

Craft full stack of bandages. When you get damaged, keep using the bandage. Yes it take a bit to beat it but its not dark souls difficult so you actually cheese it 😊
no, no, no 🙂 just strafe from left to right, moving out of the beam, just run out of the circles strafing, too and then, once he sucks in the air / spawns the crittes stun him by hitting him on the nose try to get the critters together with his nose when stunned. rinse & repeat I believe I did him at level 10 or so. @@Fortizar Nothing can honestly go wrong unless I simply just didn't attack him and let him kill me. To craft acid bite your altar has to be level 4 and you have to have the alchemy station. And for that you need the dragon's head. So this advice doesn't do much for lower levels.
@@juicys_gametime I found it in a chest. You can get it outside of the alchemist with some effort and luck. Guess the smoothness of your brain didn't even register that thought.
