      I was thinking about getting this game. I hear some things about progression that I can miss out on stuff since it's not per person but like collective effort and I could miss out on stuff. What's that about? It looks like a great game though and I find it fun to watch.

    Not sure if anyone commented on this , but for planting seed, instead of planting them right on the grass outside your base , craft some Farm Soil / Rich Farm soil , and with the Construction Hammer, swap to terrain mode , and select the large horizontal flat square, it should cost you 1 soil for that entire chunk per placement, and the plant will grow faster on it and it can actually look pretty good if you build some sort of fake planters with a wood frame around the Farm Soil. Just upgrade to the Rich version as soon as you unlock it as it incredibly speed up the growth rate and since you will need a lot of Linen from Flax later on, its worth doing all of them.

    In terms of crafting things at vendors the game shows you an exclamation mark next to items that once crafted open another item, although I think that these exclamation marks can also indicate there is a related quest to complete too.

    • @Dark__Thoughts
      @Dark__Thoughts 11 місяців тому +2

      I think this is a bit buggy because I keep having those for weapons / equipment but without quest or already completed quests until I craft them, which is basically just extra / waste of resources. Had this with the blacksmith for the one handed weapons and with the alchemist for the staff. But maybe I'm just missing something here.

    • @demonfandango
      @demonfandango 11 місяців тому

      @Thoughts To be honest I think you might be right about it being a bit buggy - I noticed with the Alchemists staff that the first time I crafted it the exclamation mark didn't disappear but then later on in my game (a lot later), I crafted it again because I wanted to see if I'd done whatever it was waiting for and it cleared the exclamation mark but nothing else happened - no quest updated, nothing.
      So I think you are spot on when saying it's buggy.

      there is a golden chest at the third pylon of the broken bridge, you can place an altar on the floor at the far end of bridge an farm it, you will need to dig through rubble to get to it. there is also a salt mine to the left of your starting location, near the map border with 3 silver chests, called the saline mine, easy to walk in an out of shroud right behind it.

    1:58 They aren't unique and respawn. You can get multiple sparks from the same shrine.
    7:06 You already have the small 1m block and the big 4? meter square which are already completely flat (the latter might leave a gap beneath depending on the size of your hole if you just cover it). The "rock" type is meant for literal rocks, like boulders, for decorative purposes, not to make flat surfaces.
    8:17 Locked doors are destructible too, just use the felling axe on them. I had to do this once after it respawned me in the Necropolis, as it was my last respawn point I visited (died in the mines in the beginnig of this video while trying to make my way to the waypoint T_T).
    8:30 This goes for other recipes too. Like arrows. The regular wood arrows are hella expensive compared to let's say even scrap arrows, even though you need an additional material type you save a lot of sticks.
    15:58 Some of the buttons are out of range for wand projectiles and you can craft the wooden arrows fairly easily on a pinch. At least I have always sticks on me anyway.

    What I am having trouble with is getting loot that is my level when someone who is lower level is in the game. I am 13, and my wife is level 6, and I keep getting loot that is her level.

      You need to go to more difficult areas to get higher tiered items. For example, if you go to the far east in the desert, you can get things up to level 25 I believe.

      Yes as the other commenter here said, its depends on the area you are in. As you get to higher level areas you will get better and higher level drops.

    Leveling in this game is weird, kind of upside-down, in a way. I doubt the developers really intended that, but due to how the game works, gaining a new level takes a really long time in the beginning and then goes faster and faster towards the end.
    It felt like it took ages to even get from level 1 to 2 and then to 3, while the last 10 levels just rained down on me in no time.
    The reason is that the XP requirements don't go up drastically for each level, as they do in most other games, while the rate at which you get XP goes up pretty fast, due to the fact that you can mine materials much faster with better pickaxes, can travel better with better gliders and skills and can engage enemies easier.

      Also I would have been a big fan of a level suggestion on quests, so you get an idea of where you are supposed to be at your level. I had such a hard time in the revelwood, because I completely skipped the meadows. And then came to the meadows just one hitting everything.

    • @TrangleC
      @TrangleC 5 місяців тому

      @@97LauraLee I guess if you just follow the quests in the order you get them, it should be OK. I think the game does a OK job at sending you to get new NPCs and their tools step by step.
      Of course in open world games it is usually possible and likely that you run into enemies you are not strong enough for yet, but in that regard this game even goes out of its way to minimize the likelihood of that happening via the "Red Shroud" mechanic, which is supposed to limit where you can go as long as you don't have the right level.
      I actually prefer the old-fashioned kind of doing RPG worlds, where the monsters in certain areas have fixed levels and if you are not strong enough yet, you are getting in trouble when going there.
      The alternative is that the monsters level with the player character like they do in Skyrim and other Bethesda games.
      I like the first way of doing it better, because it gives you a nice feeling of growth, progression and accomplishment when you level up and suddenly are strong enough to fight your way into parts of the map that you previously had to avoid.

    • @97LauraLee

      @@TrangleC Yea I like the leveling system as well. But since you level so slowly at the beginning, it does make a big difference where you go first. I used to be fine with that in most cases. I remember hating it in gothic. A suggestion wouldn't change any of that, but just save some time and frustration. Ofc you can look at guides, etc, but they often include spoilers. As you said, the game does an OK job, but I would prefer a suggestion, since I can't remember in what order I got 15 quests after coming back to the game after a few days.

    • @TrangleC
      @TrangleC 5 місяців тому

      @@97LauraLee Yes. The Gothic games stand out in my memory too as examples for that. It is frustrating at first, but all the sweeter later when you finally are powerful enough to defeat enemies you had to run from before.
      In Enshrouded it becomes obvious how hard a quest will be once you realize the geography of the map, with the danger level increasing along an arc that goes from the staring area in the South-West of the map, first up North, then East and eventually down to the South-East again.
      Of course the game doesn't explicitly tell you that from the beginning, so problems from doing stuff out of order like in your case can happen, but as I said, the danger is minimized by the red shroud mechanic.
      I didn't have that issue myself because I was inpatient and spoiled much for myself by rushing through the map long before I was the right level.
      It wasn't just impatience.
      I was just afraid of fighting the Wyvern because I heard it is a very hard fight and I am not one of those "Git Gud" Souls-Like player guys who enjoys dying 40 times fighting some boss monster, so I decided to prepare as well as possible for that fight and get the best possible gear and weapons and so I followed a tutorial that enabled me to reach the endgame area in the South-East when I was only level 11 and most of the red shroud was still active.
      Of course I didn't fight any level 30 monsters, but just rushed to a golden chest in the last Sun Temple and kept farming that, avoiding all enemies and getting top tier gear I then used to eventually go back and fight the Wyvern.

      I'm max level, have found every shroud and every obelisk. most flame shrines, even though its pointless now to find all those. I've been hoarding resources trying to fill chests so that I can sit down and have a real long build. other than that, nothing to do. i have all the best gear, no reason to go look for chests or kill mobs anymore. Took me roughly 30 hours to do all that. which makes me kind of sad, I was ready to dump 100.

      @3Bud I had my main starting base that was pretty large. I'm making a huge base on top of the highest point in the current game right now. I did the quests as I got them. I didn't waste time crafting any gear because I always found better stuff just by playing. I only crafter the final set of gear, but only two pieces because i wanted the bonuses they provided. I didnt speed run at all, just kept doing the next thing as it offered it to me.
