as someone born and raised in chicago the melort shot is disgusting and those who partake in it visibly cringe. I've also witnessed this st patty's day in 2024 sober after going to vegas the prior weekend but I do agree with most of your points

😄The Melort fans are crazy! This year's st. patty was just as wild as the last. Hope you were safe out there and had a good time my friend

I visited last week starting on St Patty's weekend. We inadvertently stayed in Boystown right on Broadway without knowing how big the LGBT community was there. It was awesome! It was so interesting how the cold didn't stop anyone from going out and having a good time throughout the week (could have been the alcohol lol). After my trip, I definitely plan on moving there next year from the SW. Just gotta adjust to that cold weather, lol. I plan on coming back when it's warmer to check out some of the neighborhoods you mentioned that we didn't get a chance to see, like Pilsen & Wicker Park.

So glad you had a great time and planning to move here! Boystown/North Halsted is one of my favorite areas. The people are so nice and expressive. Lots to do. And you right the cold weather doesn't stop the city from turning up lol. Thanks for sharing

As a Chicagoan (though I don't live there anymore) and a bartender, I can attest that the Malort thing is stupid trend from the past decade or so. No one ever heard of Malort before then, and it certainly wasn't a "tradition." Only in this age could people be conviced to spend money on a horrid tasting drink and think they're being cool. Don't fall for the Malort BS. Tons of great bars in Chicago, great bartenders, and great cocktails to enjoy!

I was born in Chicago and have lived in Chicago for about half my life.
The people in Chicago are friendly but not as friendly as the people in Texas.
    Chicago is too crowded.
Never heard of the Chicago Handshake. Probably because I do not drink alcohol and do not frequent bars.
I do not like the snow and cold weather.
The air pollution, water pollution, and light pollution is more than I can take.
There is too much trash on the streets and sidewalks.
There are too many people begging and sleeping on the streets.
The cost of living and taxes are too high.
Chicago has a poor housing market.
    Chicago is not business friendly.
There are too many potholes in the streets.
Too much salt is used on the roads.
    Too many aggressive drivers.
Vehicle parking is too expensive and too difficult to find.
Too much gun control and too much crime.

@@chismprism This isn't known all around Chicago sis. It's definitely not a West Side or South Side thing or over East thing. There's a huge difference in what area of Chicago you frequent or live. It's still a segregated city and white people have their own accents and terms vs blacks and Non white non black Hispanics. Chicago is so diverse that we all don't relate to everything but in other ways we do, This ain't one of them.
