I came to youtube thinking something was wrong about my Mijello burnt sienna but I guess it actually comes a bit different than the traditional one! I LOVE the Winsor and Newton one so so much. It almost radiates! Absolutely love it
So glad you included mission paint for in your burnt sienna comparison. I’m new to painting and water color and purchased a set of Mission Gold paint because it seemed the most affordable professional paint set. I watched another burnt sienna comparison, which was a great video, but I just couldn’t figure out why my burnt sienna was appreciably different than those paints in the video. Your video was very helpful and I appreciate greatly your discussion of various pigments. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks
So THATS why my mjello burnt sienna doesn’t work like most tutorials I’ve seen! 🤣 I’m looking at getting some Daniel smith or schminke set next, and this video and the Prussian blue one have DEFINITELY leaned me in one direction. Bring on more!!
Thanks for the video. I would be happy to send you a quarter pan of W&N Burnt Sienna if you like. I have their Permanent Alizarin Crimson as well, and Payne's Grey in Daniel Smith, Sennelier, and Qor. If you can think of more future videos you want to do, I might be able to send other paints too. Happy to share. ☺
Oh that is so sweet of you. I mean I've already compared Burnt Sienna and probably won't do follow ups until I get through the other colors, but I do plan to do the following colors next: Alizarin Crimson, Payne's Grey, Buff Titanium, French Ultramarine, Cerulean Blue, Cadmium Yellow so if you have any half or quarter pans or even dots you could send that would be awesome. I have no Qor at all, and only a handful of Sennelier. I do have some of these in Windsor and Newton, but not much. You can shoot me an email at colorfullyoptimistic@gmail.com and maybe we can work something out!
Daniel smith makes a burnt sienna light with pr101and po48.... but if you use pr101 venetian red and p0 48 or is it p049 you don't get a burnt sienna light...oh well...but I do prefer burnt sienna from da vinci or m.graham for mixing with prussian blue....and I forgot which orussian blue is the best for color stability..a term I use for prussiam blue.
What! You're not a millionaire? I think you made a great review and made the point very clear. Burnt Sienna is a great mixing color and I wish there was more consistency across brands.
I have never met a Burnt Sienna I don't like andI'd be happy with any of these. The one I'd most like to try is the Mijello just because it looks so different compared to the rest. Well to be fair, the M Graham almost looks more like a burnt umber than a burnt Sienna, but it's not as different and unexpected I guess.

Yeah it definitely off, which was surprising to me as well

This is s really good video. Comparison videos are some of my favorite watercolor videos.
Awe thank you! I will be making more here very soon :)
Love this series..your doing a great job describing etc.
Thank you!
I agree with you. I like Holbein PBr7 the best and Daler Rowney in the #2 spot. They both lean towards a reddish golden color.
Yeah I mean when I think of Burnt Sienna, I think of that rich reddish undertone.
I really appreciate these comparisons!
Comparisons are the spice of life! Glad you enjoyed them. Let me know if there's anything specific you'd like to see next.

LOL it definitely does have different pigments, and pigments make a difference :)

@@watercolorwanderingwithk I will see what I have in those and get back to you. ☺
WN is a red leaning shade. It is similar to a transparent red oxide.
M Graham and Mijello Mission are the 2 I would use. Thank you!
Good choice!
