Some great debate about this list - as much as this belt is for the true wrestlers it seems to me this list is much more for deeper rather than more casual fans - no aspersions cast on either as age has made me more of the latter. I always saw the IC as a way for guys to propel themselves to good rivalries and a way to showcase their work at PPVs. In that way, they are working towards getting into the mix for the big belt where there is nowhere to hide in terms of your ability to put on good matches and to draw business. I loved Perfect and Razor as IC champs - they had some great matches and rivalries, maybe especially when losing - but neither used the higher profile to catapult themselves to the top of the business (though injuries and moves to WCW perhaps contribute). By contrast, the likes of Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin and Edge all successfully raised their profiles whilst IC champ and showed they could do the business at the top of the organisation. I think the best of these types of IC champion is Bret Hart. The Hitman transformed himself from the tag scene into singles royalty with rivalries and great matches contesting the IC belt. The first ladder match against Michaels, putting over the Bulldog at Wembley, beating Hennig at Summerslam and Piper at Wrestlemania - all very different but brilliantly planned and executed matches that elevated both him and the belt, turning it into the crucial stepping stone for credibility that it was for Michaels, Stone Cold, HHH, The Rock and more.

3. Bret Hart (Hardest Working for it in his days)
4. Razor Ramon ( The look of a champion)
5. The Miz ( Really cares about the Championship history and took his latest reigns as champion with prestige better than most previous champions)
Thats my top 5
I'm genuinely insulted that The Miz is only 6.
The Miz deserves better.
It really is, especially with all the work Mizdow, Usos, and The Rhodes boys did to rebuild the Tag division right before his massive IC run.
He ranked way too high
@@Betared2003 that has nothing to do with the ic title
No he does not.
@Sheldon Passley Hell no
Since, I am probably not the only one here, who is mainly a WWE watcher. I´d like a Top 10 Must See Womens Wrestling Matches outside of WWE.
would be cool, thanks guys
Women's matches are when I go take a piss.
Always will be my favourite title. Loved it the most as a kid. Still love it today. Such a shame it's treated so badly.
I don't know much about your work but doing a video so long, and talk during this video that's a lot of work so thanks a lot!
“Basic fundamentals, far too many rest holds, I don’t want to shake his hand ooooooh nooooo...nanananannanana Randal Randal Keith, Randal Keith, Randal Randal Keith!” Absolute Gold Mr. Pacitti! 👏🏻
I was mid yawn and nearly collapsed a lung to hit that "Neoooowwww!" 50:20
Y2J is the best Intercontinental Champion of all time
Antonio Figueroa okay but Jericho has more title reigns than The Miz. I’ll give him credit for making the title prestigious back in 2016 but w/o Jericho, it wouldn’t be where it is now
Antonio Figueroa some of Miz’s title reigns were not good as well
Fight Me
@@BigEvil6686 Yeah mate i agree it's all about how good the actual title reigns were if Jericho won it 9 times that's fine but they were also very short Miz had longer reigns and FUCKING DEFINED WHAT A GREAT INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION IS.
For me it's The Rock or RVD
"Perhaps 2020 will be the year Strowman gets his Wrestlemania moment." Understatement of the year. Even if it was kind of a backdoor moment.
Wrestling fan from the future...
WALTER/GUNTHER is the new #1
I love these videos. When he mentions Randy Orton he goes nuts. It’s like saying the secret word in Pee Wee’s playhouse.
YOWIE WOWIE IM GOING TO RAW LATER AND I’LL DEFINITELY LISTEN TO THIS ON THE WAY TO PASS THE TIME!!!!
Tito Santana may not have held another singles belt after the Intercontinental title, he did have another WWE title after his run with the Intercontinental title ended as he won the WWE Tag Team title with Rick Martel as "Strike Force" .
Not gonna lie when Zack Ryder pushed Miz from the ladder and grabbed the belt I got up from my chair and started dancing
This was a great video, I want the new one named: "every WWE United States champion ranked from worst to best".
I remember watching the countdown wondering and waiting to see who it was gonna be. Then the countdown finally hit zero, the music drops, the lights hit and BAM Y2J comes out like a supernova. Had me hooked.
Can we just give Shinsauke credit I mean he pinned Roman and with Vince's brain that is almost impossible especially in a title match.
Out of all these wrestlers Gold Dust was the one i loved to see. On the mic or in the ring he was a blast to watch.
Love this kind of video and I'm sure someone else already mentioned this but Shinsuke is the second Asian IC champ, as Steamboat is technically the first. Shinsuke would be the second Japanese IC champ as well since Steamboat is 1/2 Japanese. 🤗
Anybody else notice how Mick Foley's left-hand has something written on it around 15:24-15:29?...
My top 6 favorite IC Champions
1 : Gunther
2 : Randy Savage
3 : Chris Jericho
4 : Shawn Michaels
5 : Ricochet
6 : Shelton Benjamin
May we have a every ROH world champion ranked
I think they did it before in Whatculture with Jay Lethal in #1
Na na na na na na na na na na na dilo dilo brown dilo brown dilo dilo brown
No one cares enough for that 😂
Some great debate about this list - as much as this belt is for the true wrestlers it seems to me this list is much more for deeper rather than more casual fans - no aspersions cast on either as age has made me more of the latter.
Gunther number one now
ive just sat through that start to finish...i came for the list but stayed for the Randall Keith song...Totally agree with your number 1
Those randal keith bits 😂😭😂😭. Even while pissed off I got a big laugh from that on repeat.
Curtis and mr perfect aren’t the only father and son to hold the same belt. Kurt angle and Jason jordan😂
Jason never won it 🤔
A for effort
Not only did he say specifically IC title. Unless Kurt was an NXT or RAW tag champ I think you still missed.
@@drhouse6165 Kurt was raw tag champ, but still doesn’t make a difference since he said intercontinental
“Wrestling like he’d rather be Anywhere Else in the World.” AEW.. very clever!
@@sq1996 uhhh no its not.
Yall gay. Stop being gay. People can have their own opinions and preferences
D85610 While I agree with the sentiment, I’m not so sure about the homophobic slur....
@@2rare2die100 Is gay a homophobic slur? It's just a synonym of homosexual. Is homosexual a homophobic slur?
@@Graveyard151 Context is important, and in this instance “stop being gay” would imply that actually being gay was a negative thing. If you disagree then I’d be willing to hear a counter argument.
Watching in 2023, PUT MY BOY GUNTHER AT THE MF TOP

58:27 I love that version of the intercontinental championship. The purple strap with the block logo looked badass
Growing up wanting to be a wrestler it was always my dream to be IC champion.....it always just felt like the best wrestlers held it
42:08 "I'm Fooked" - Davey Boy Smith, 1992
Greatest Summerslam match ever, and probably top 5 all-time.
Me watching in 2023 and as the time goes your new best intercontinental champion is Gunther 😎

"If Dean Douglas isn't ranked last..." - me, waking up this morning seeing this video has been uploaded
I grew up watching late 80s and early 90s so when I think of Intercontinental championship I think Rick Rude, Curt Hennig, Warrior, Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramone
Man, how can you watch wrestling in the 80s and not immediately associate the IC Champion with the Honky Tonk Man?
Finally someone give the magnificent muraco some props. One of the best of all time IMO.
2020 Adam: this is going to be a long video
Me in November 2022: have you seen the weekly podcast run time??
No shame, I love the long form videos between cultaholic and triple jump 😁
