this is one of the most interesting ways he reinvents this solo in my opinion. I try to watch all of them to understand his different styles of approach to this same E/C/A/F pattern.... I've got to say we all already give him props for the original, but this one and his solo at the Rex are my favorite. Keep killing Doc, I'm listenin.
This is the most personal solo I've heard so far from Henry Cory. I am a sucker for crowdpleaser solos, and having listened to some of Corys solos, this one is different in my humble opinion. He always brings something new to the table. Tweaking and exploring. The audience applause is normally energizing, but having your own inner artistic vision of what your own true aspiration is, might not always a crowdpleaser. Power to Cory and all musicians who express themselves and touches a core in us.
I feel like I've become a scholar on this song. As a jazz pianist looking for new ways to approach things, I have really enjoyed listening to and transcribing Cory's various approaches to this song. This particular solo is one of my favs. Thanks for posting it
wow! I follow this solo everywhere it appears, ever since Scala London 2014 and this is such a beautiful version! A nice approach to each root this time round
This version makes me cry, like I have discovered another universe of sound.
In this his era of Cory, Cory was one of the best piano players the world has ever seen, that's not an overstatement.

Those are great ones. The one in Denton Texas is my fave.
Yes. This solo was OUTRAGEOUS.

This is my favorite variant of Cory's Lingus solo
I love how creative Cory is with his solos. 5:40 - 6:00 is absolutely ridiculous
i can only feel his pain when he fucked up the little transition after his great solo haha ,but that happens to the best of em
My jaw literally dropped at 5:55
@@simonh1349 The transition sounded like a vignette from any Japanese tv show haha
This is my favorite version for sure. And side note 7:01-7:11 is one of the best licks I’ve ever heard in my life.
bebop is modern!!!!
Mad scientist Cory's experiment lab..
Endless reinvention, amazing every time
Cada vez mais incrível e insano! Cory Henry is amazing!
7:01 reminds me when you slide over a banana in mario kart
This is just... Woah.
2.36 sounds like when you first get to outer space in your ship and the sun comes into view ;]
3:47 he created his own song within the song
and 7:02 that lick is ridiculous
That's a good solo, a song into a song
the sound around 3:40 is so dope
4:23
4:39 - 6:07 Had me.
7:00
Fucking hell man
wow...
What is the chord at 0:53 ? I hear a D diminished 6th (if that's even an extension lol), but I'm not sure.
As a matter of fact, I also need to know what scale he's soloing over that chord with.
E7#9
AABatteries321 he's playing an E7 chord
E7 with E dominant-lydian scale
Disgusting. I love it.
