Jack was the original Jack in the Box mascot in the 1970s until they blew him up sometime in the early 80s. They went mascot-less in the 80s until they brought Jack back, having undergone plastic surgery. He blew up the people who blew him up in his debut and had an edge about him for the rest of the 90s/2000s. Truly one of the greatest mascots of all time.
There were ZERO Jack in the Boxes in Montana when I was a kid, and the only time I ever heard them mentioned was on the news when people were getting salmonella or some other serious sickness. 😂 I loved that place until I paid $30 for 2 meals.
I believe there was also a kangaroo meat scandal, and they were informally known as “Jack in the Pouch”. What on earth was $30 for two things? That’s highway robbery.

2006 Jack In The Box made me think, "Why would I ever go to Burger King or McDonalds again?" 2022 -"You've already dropped the 'We won't make it until you order it' slogan, you've already raised your prices, you've already shrunk the size of your food by 30%. Why wouldn't I just go to a real burger restaurant at this point?"
And most fast food isn't even making the food in an appreciably quicker time, either. Can't keep enough people employed because they refuse to pay their employees better, as their food prices rise year after year. Where's all that money going? You can just order a meal ahead for pick-up at a real resteraunt and do it all on one go. Fast food forgot that it's supposed to be a good price for good portions, in reasonable time frame. Plus, you know the money is going back to your community and the people who need it.
