Memories. So important in an old man's life. I'm remembering a week long fishing trip back in the 50s. My dad invited me along for his spring fishing trip to Lake Mead. I was in the 5th grade and mom was worried that I would miss having a perfect attendance in school. I would take a fishing trip with dad any day. Much talked about trip in my family because dad super salted everything he ate, and someone forgot to include salt when packing for the trip. Mom never heard the end of it. Thereafter all his fishing trips had double salt as they each packed salt for the trip.

So good to see this video, Joe. It felt different with the rough fire (which confused me at first, until I realised that you could let the fire cut the wood in half for you, by burning thru' the middle section, and then you could just put the 2 unburnt 3rds into the coals, without you having to expend energy bucking up every last piece. Very clever!
Good to hear you have the canoe trip season in mind again and very much looking forward to your trip with Kyle👍👍

Oddly enough I actually found your channel through Doug’s, I unsubscribed from Doug years ago, not due to any reason other than I wasn’t interested in the carving side… I check in on him from time to time but he has such a wonderful, relaxing and genuine personality.
