  • After 8 weeks in NY it was time for us to head back out on the road and see what kind of beauty and adventure we can find. Of course it was near 90 degrees across the route we planned to take so the new A/C was a life saver!!
My name is David and with my dog Lefty we live full time in our converted ambulance RV. I made this change to my 'standard' life and you can too! Subscribe and comment - Lefty would appreciate it - he wants the adventures to keep coming!

The Campulance is a 2002 Ford E450 Marque Commando 164 Class III ambulance powered by the Ford 7.3l Powerstroke diesel engine and a 4 speed + overdrive transmission. Lefty is a 65lb Staffordshire Terrier (best I can tell) that came from the Verona Street Animal Shelter in March 2014 at the age of 9 months. We have been living full time in the campulance since July 2019.

Are you able to open that cabinet when it's raining and hot? Lucky looks very comfortable, that's for sure.

Thats a great idea. My interior led lights use a very low amount of power so I'm ok with using them a few hours a day :)

Ventline V2111-11 Exterior Wall Vent for RV Range Hood
Ventline Louvered Exterior Sidewall Range Hood Vent
You could get this^(google ) and install on that exterior door so you dont have to open it up to use the a/c
Plus with this vent, no rain inside area and no one will hit that door

Not sure where you're at now but the best plan would be to get off the toll road at I-75 or I-69 and head down to Indianapolis and take I-70 across Indiana and Illinois.to avoid Chicago like the plague. I lived in Indy for 40 years until 2013.

BTW... We stole your idea to put an A/C in that driver side rear cabinet. Our cabinet is taller than yours and we had doors to the inside. We used one of our shelves to set the unit on and closed in around it with some 3/4" plywood pieces. Eventually we will cover the inside with the luan we have been using in other areas.

Well, I stole the idea from Bob. He had a cabinet with inside access like yours. He ended up putting in his back window because his door blew shut and choked the AC so be sure you've got a good door system. So far its working great for us!

Good info - that's all behind us now and we didn't get near Chicago. The trip was good up until Colorado and climbing the mountains!

Way was your battary consumption at 10:30 pm when you shut off the AC?

I'm sorry David I can't recall the specifics from that trip. Generally, the A/C uses 440w when the compressor is running.
